Beware of official spokespeople and semantics:-

Beware of official spokespeople and semantics:-
He said staff had reviewed CCTV footage and it showed some passengers had still not entered security 35 minutes before their flight was due for departure [emphasis added].
Some passengers is not all passengers. We simply don't know how many 'some' passengers is and how long the rest of them took to get through. This kind of selective reporting of the facts doesn't fill me with confidence but it does fill me with cynicism. Why doesn't the airport spokesman tell us when the first lot of passengers joined the queue if he has access to the CCTV footage?

i agree. but that makes 40 minute check in deadlines nonsense if its not possible to get from the desk to the gate in that time.
Totally agree. Check in might open two hours before departure but if these passengers checked in 40 minutes before departure then they have acted completely legitimately and in accordance with easyJets terms and conditions- they have done nothing wrong.

If you turn up at check-in 40 minutes before you flight you deserve to miss it.

I turned up 32 minutes before my BA flight a couple of weeks ago because of a delayed inbound flight. Does that mean I should have missed it? Best ring BA and apologise...

I havent seen this mentioned anywhere else, but KLM seems to have gone back down to 3 daily from the summer timetable.

Tried various dates in July, August and November, all comming up 3 a day.

Not sure how long ago this was decided but sometimes negative news travels slow on this thread.

It looks like it goes back to 3 after Easter.

The 0920 departure is now 1040, and the 1335 is binned as far as I can see

Anyone know the reason for this?

Ok then the good news 129,000 people used KLM through Liverpool 2010 instead of Manchester, best month Oct 14,700 load factor 74%, 14700 in Oct that did not use Manchester.

Ah! but it could have been 23/24 million, and been third largest airport instead of fourth behind Stansted, but for that little airport down the road.

Anybody have any clues as to where is has been discussed or what the discussion concluded? This is for the benefit of myself and the rest of the readers who are not interested in this "willy-waving" but ARE interested in the dynamics of the aviation and airport business.

I could be wrong but dont KLM do this quite often during the summer months, something to do with less business travel during this time? I know HUY has fluctuated between 3 and 4 daily for years on the F70.

As an aside, I dont see the point in the MAN v LPL stuff (ignoring the city rivalries), just look at your fellow northerners at the other side of the Pennines and think yourself lucky you've got a hugely successful major airport and one of the busiest regional airports in the country within 40 miles of each other...

If reducing in the summer is the norm, why is MAN going from 5 daily to 6 daily? Perhaps the LPL route is still not quite generating profits as KL themselves said not so long ago.

Please can we not descend to the level of LPL v MAN again it's old news, it's boring and there is space for both to be succesful whch is good for the region as a whole.
