That's very interesting Skipness! Was it anything to do with anti-airport activity?
Let me correct that, I am mistaken and misremebering, it was his colleague who had been done for Breach of the Peace and he did not travel. My apologies to Mr Stewart (and pprune!)

First big test of the new arrivals information this evening, with most inbounds diverted or cancelled due to the fog, and of course a knock-on to the outbounds.

Alas, just as bad as it used to be. Look up to see what has happened, everything just airbrushed off once it gets past STA.

Hmm, so we will be down to six/seven airlines (depending how you count Sun Air BA). Let's hope that Skywork and BLue Islands have a robust operation - if they would disappear, it would be just British Airways, Cityjet, Lufthansa, Luxair and Swiss.

That's still many more than at many other airports. Fortunately, the viability of LCY will not be affected! Regretably, there are many airports which really are struggling.

The Milan flight is shown on the LCY webisde with a VE (Volare) code.

This seems to have appeared with no advance publicity. Or have I been asleep at the wheel?

It's a normal Alitalia flight which happens to be codeshared with a VE code. The reason is that in order to hold on to as many slots as they do in LIN, Alitalia keeps some of them under the codes of the companies they've taken over rather than AZ. (I don't remember the exact rule in LIN - it's something like "on a given city pair (other than Rome) each company is only allowed 3 slot pairs per day.")

This isn't a new route - until now it was operated by CityJet as a wet lease on behalf of AZ. Now AZ have taken it back themselves.

It came from Air One who leased a couple if RJ70s to fly LCY-LIN and FCO. Then was flown on their behalf by Cityjet using a Volare callsign.

This was only announced on March 27th along with the news we are getting a new E190.
This new E190 brings our fleet to 14 Embraers.
Also announced: New daily (ex Sat) route to Venice, additional FRA & GLA flights, plus that we are now LCY biggest airline.

It seems BA will suspend LCYCPH from 26 May.

Yeah sad to see the MUC get cancelled. I tried to fly it a couple of times to visit the in-laws at Xmas but each time LH would cancel late in the day and we'd be shifted to LHR, usually with disastrous consequences! My wife did once get to fly on a D328 though, receiving a free upgrade and super-friendly service.
BACF taking it on would be great but don't know if they'd get enough customers with Monarch now joining the fray, unless BA cull some frequencies at LHR...

Interesting how in the five years I have been a local, British Airways have tightened their grip on LCY. The move from a group of independent and partner airlines offering props to European cities has passed through a phase of Euro flag carriers moving in, and back out again.

For the record, Lufthansa have tried and failed on LCY-HAM / DUS / STR / MUC / TXL leaving only LCY-FRA. Thought MUC would have stayed with the four daily ERJ-190 offering a good product.

Many will be disappointed at the loss of this. The ease of access to LCY and speed of connections at MUC worked very well for those that made us of it.
