They really do need to do a better job of keeping the website up-to-date and to do more to publicise new routes. Still no mention of the new easyJet routes under winter destinations.
And the official line is :-
our homepage content changes in line with our wider marketing plan - target marketing activity has been planned for this route and will follow in due course.

Good to see an Onur Air A300 airbus at Bournemoth last night operating the first series of flights to Dalaman , havent had one of those in for a few years since Monarch operated a few charters to Havana with them , lets hope the loads stay good for the summer and a return for next year
The web site is being upgraded as of September hopefully so it will in corporate all the new developments that have been happening recently with new routes , airlines and a new terminal to go with it finally !!
Ryanair seem a little slow in releasing some of there winter flights with MAD NTE MRS and MAD not showing still , hope its good news for these routes after a slow start they seem to be picking up
Other good news for Bournemouth is new routes with Thomson holidays for next summer to Naples and Heraklion and the re introduction of Tenerife which looked earlier like it was being dropped but back on again

The new arrivals, departures and catering/retail facillities will be completed by the end of February 2008. These will be in a totally new built extention to the existing terminal. Work is planned to start end of august.
Still no news on the Ryanair rumours yet. All of the 3 X weekly routes are not bookable after the end of the summer schedule. Maybe we will find out in the next few weeks. I would be very surprised if Pisa and Madrid were dropped for the winter.
Great news on the TOM charter expansion for 2008.

Will be interesting to see how the Wizzair Katowice route performes once the Easyjet Krakow route opens, as the 2 airports are only about an hour apart.

Ryanair announced today that they will start a 3 X weekly service from their new Alicante base, operating every tue, thur & sat from December.

Still no news on the 4 remaining routes not released for sale. Can anyone confirm that these routes, Madrid, Pisa, Marseille & Nantes are cancelled?

Madrid is being watached carefully, if it picks up it may be kept on.
Otherwise routes that will be dropped will be replaced with others.

hourly shuttle bus to airport

Airport bus cleared for take off
Bournemouth Airport has today announced a new bus service partnership with Discover Dorset.

The new service, launching in November, will provide a direct bus link from the Airport into Bournemouth 7 days a week with journey times taking just 15 minutes.

The Airport Shuttle service will run hourly from 7am-7pm and will be operated with a brand new wheel-chair and buggy friendly Optare bus.

Airport bosses have invested over £152,000 into the partnership, with a similar level of funding to be invested each year over a five-year period.

Welcoming the partnership, Bournemouth Airport, Managing Director Peter Duffy said: “The bus partnership with Discover Dorset is a welcome addition to our development plans for the Airport. This enhanced service will help deliver our promise of ease for the passenger and create better commuter links between the terminal and Bournemouth town centre.”

The service will initially operate on the hour from the Bournemouth Travel Interchange to Bournemouth International Airport and back, with a town loop at the end serving Lansdowne, East Cliff, West Cliff and The Square.

Commenting on the new route, Discover Dorset Managing Director, Tim Sanders said “We are delighted to be working with Bournemouth Airport as we have mutual aims to promote a high quality bus link for inbound tourism as well as residents of the region.”

Discover Dorset operate within the Dorset region with a number of high quality tours to local attractions including the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, Stonehenge, Salisbury, the New Forest National Park and Bath.

The Airport’s objective is to gradually improve the service with the introduction of a link to the Industrial park, improved frequency and hours of operation over the five-year period.

The new bus development is part of the Master Plan which was published earlier this year after extensive public consultation. It sets out how the Airport will develop in a sustainable manner over the next twenty-three years.

FR to Alicante

Great news about Alicante with Ryanair although I am sure Thomsonfly and Palmair will be annoyed! So this would effectively replace Shannon SNN for the winter. What about the others - what will they be replaced with?

stupid mistake

who the hell is in charge of marketing at Bournemouth?

Putting the mobile number of our Head of Sales and Marketing Caroline Baldwin on the press release is not a smart move.

So many issues with their marketing team - surprises me

That said, a Ryanair direct line is like gold dust - you can certainly never find one when you have a complaint! She'd better hope the pax don't get hold of it...

Ryanair have increased the rotations on the DUB flight to 9 per week starting at the end of October. Extra flights are on Friday and Sunday arriving BOH 07,55 and departing 08,20.
Still no news on the MAD, PSA, MRS routes, plus FR applied for slots at Prague for a BOH service this winter so fingers crossed.

As it stands the FR winter schedule is 1 rotation down on last winter if we loose the 4 routes launched since last October. Marseille and Nantes started in May and June respectively.

A Madrid based aircraft currently operates:

MAD - BOH - NTE - BOH - MAD

If Madrid is axed, then so will Nantes in all likelihood.

Amsterdam

TOM 's service to AMS has been cancelled for the Winter from all three of the UK departure airports (as well as CVT-ORY).

Try to book a flight for after 01 November to see for yourselves.

July record Pax

Bournemouth airport handled 113,711 pax in July 07 - up 20% on 06 (1,035,120 rolling 12 month total up 10%).
Bournemouth now has 42% market share compared with Southampton at 58% - closing the gap...
Load factors for following routes achieved:
Madrid 79% Ryanair
Paderborn 86% Air Berlin
Shannon 70% Ryanair
Katowice 92% Wizzair
Pretty impressive numbers.

Madrid 79% Ryanair
Shannon 70% Ryanair
Pretty impressive numbers.
Hasn't saved them from being axed from October. Although no official announcement yet Nantes, Marseille and Pisa look to be going the same way.

May only be removed for the winter season. Two reasons - lower pax load (obviously) and also Ryanair have a habit of working their flight crews to the annual limit too quickly and cancelled lots of flight in Jan/Feb/March this year because not enough pilots with flying hours left were available.

Maybe this year they have planned ahead by reducing the winter flying programme to stop this happening. Just a thought.

Madrid axed

Official announcement of Madrid axing on Spanish Ryanair Site. No mention of Nantes but since this was operated by a Madrid based aircraft it is also presumably axed.

With those sort of load actors, why axe a route even for the Winter months? Ohh and what muppet at RYR decides on the schedules? Arriving at BOH at 0725L is crazy, a major business city or town yes, but not a holiday resort?

Bring back HHN and introduce CIA, VST and BGY at sensible timings!!

Timings

Quite agree ezyBoh, timings at BOH need to be carefully considered in order to gain the maximum number of passengers because it's a largely affluent and leisure based market.

Loads on Wizzair look phenomenol - 92%!?! They will probably introduce Warsaw then after experiencing that level of success - little wonder easyJet have announced Krakow which is only 1 hour from Katowice.

Plus - when will Air Berlin do more? I mean Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt etc.
