hourly shuttle bus to airport

Airport bus cleared for take off
Bournemouth Airport has today announced a new bus service partnership with Discover Dorset.

The new service, launching in November, will provide a direct bus link from the Airport into Bournemouth 7 days a week with journey times taking just 15 minutes.

The Airport Shuttle service will run hourly from 7am-7pm and will be operated with a brand new wheel-chair and buggy friendly Optare bus.

Airport bosses have invested over £152,000 into the partnership, with a similar level of funding to be invested each year over a five-year period.

Welcoming the partnership, Bournemouth Airport, Managing Director Peter Duffy said: “The bus partnership with Discover Dorset is a welcome addition to our development plans for the Airport. This enhanced service will help deliver our promise of ease for the passenger and create better commuter links between the terminal and Bournemouth town centre.”

The service will initially operate on the hour from the Bournemouth Travel Interchange to Bournemouth International Airport and back, with a town loop at the end serving Lansdowne, East Cliff, West Cliff and The Square.

Commenting on the new route, Discover Dorset Managing Director, Tim Sanders said “We are delighted to be working with Bournemouth Airport as we have mutual aims to promote a high quality bus link for inbound tourism as well as residents of the region.”

Discover Dorset operate within the Dorset region with a number of high quality tours to local attractions including the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, Stonehenge, Salisbury, the New Forest National Park and Bath.

The Airport’s objective is to gradually improve the service with the introduction of a link to the Industrial park, improved frequency and hours of operation over the five-year period.

The new bus development is part of the Master Plan which was published earlier this year after extensive public consultation. It sets out how the Airport will develop in a sustainable manner over the next twenty-three years.
