whats the frequency, and how come its not on the bournemouth airport homepage?

bodes well for the future for easy at BOH I guess, could this mean possibly more routes to follow?

will thomsonfly drop their weekly Grenoble...

seems very weird to have two airlines on that route as well as two airlines on Pisa. Good for you Bournemouth!!

BOH to GNB:

Tuesday:
GNB - BOH flight 6294 dep. 10:40, arr. 11:20
BOH - GNB flight 6293 dep. 11:50, arr. 14:25
Thursday:
GNB - BOH flight 6294 dep. 10:40, arr. 11:20
BOH - GNB flight 6293 dep. 11:50, arr. 14:25
Saturday:
GNB - BOH flight 6292 dep. 15:40, arr. 16:20
BOH - GNB flight 6291 dep. 16:50, arr. 19:25

I guess it boils down to demand with regards to airlines doubling up on routes, last Saturday for example there was 4 different flights to Palma!

Cannot see Thomsonfly dropping their Saturday Grenoble service: Crystal Holidays take a significant portion of this flight and package it to offer ski holidays for Winter

Ceefax flight details

OK, totally off the wall question but in the past week or two, BBC Ceefax page 450 has started to show numerous flight arrivals that aren't on the main Bournemouth web site. This morning for example, BBC is showing arrivals from Shoreham, Waddington, Blackbush, Oxford, Wolverhampton, Biggin Hill and Villafranca.

Is this private jet \ light aircraft traffic and if so, anyone know why BBC is now showing these as well as the usual daily flights? Change of data source maybe?

Just curious....

Bournemouth breaks records

Bournemouth handled 102,841 passengers in June 2007 - up 11.6% on previous year. This compares with Southampton at 184,426 which was DOWN by 1.2%. Bournemouth's annual total year to date stood at 1,016,072. The gap is now closing between BOH and SOU as predicted by some.
The airport has done little if any promotion in achieving this milestone (1m pax) which is ashame; it was a long time coming to get to this number and airport staff have worked hard to achieve it.
Top route was Palma at 11,814 passengers. Followed by Barcelona Gerona, Dublin and Glasgow Prestwick.
Other well performing routes were Madrid, Prague, PIsa, Malaga, Alicante, Faro and Amsterdam.
'OK' performing routes (load factor wise) were Paderborn, Shannon, Tenerife and Valencia.
Ones that are causefor concern (bearing in mind only recently launched) are Marseille & Nantes.

Excellent news! Let's hope the airport put something on their website to publicise these new routes soon. It's now a week since the easyJet Grenoble flight was announced and there's still no mention of it!

Last week I complained to the management at BOH via e-mail about the online flight info pages which regularly display flights which do not operate daily, regularly duplicate flights but with differing departure times and regularly show fictitious 'live' arrival times.
They did respond quickly - "This is being caused due to problems with the interface between flight programming computers and Flight Information Display computers."
"Our technical department are working hard to rectify the problem as soon as possible"
The whole system is amateur and smacks of unprofessionalism. The same can be said of the website and their inability to update it with news of significant relevance to the general public. It has always been this way and I see no changes on the horizon.

EDIT : The following has now been posted on the BOH website under the News/Announcements section though it is not prominantly displayed on the website. Surely this should be 'Home' page headline news ?

Cracking Krakow from Airport with easyJet
easyJet, Europe’s leading low-fares airline has today announced yet another new destination direct from Bournemouth Airport. Krakow is the newest addition to be made to the easyJet family from the Airport, taking the total number of destinations from the operator to three.

Set in beautiful Poland, Krakow is famed for its medieval architecture, numerous world-class monuments, charming vistas and some of the world’s most inviting restaurants. Relaxing walks and shopping are on the menu in Krakow, with its Grand Central Square and beautiful never-ending plaza, ideal for people watching from the cafes or partying in the buzzing cellar bars until the early hours.

The service to Krakow, with fares from £21.99 single (including taxes, fees and charges) will commence on 30 October 2007 for the winter season, with seats going on sale later today.

The new route, flying three times a week from Bournemouth Airport is part of easyJet’s vision to offer travellers easy access to their unique brand of low-fares with convenience.

Peter Duffy, Managing Director of Bournemouth Airport said:
“We are delighted that easyJet continues to grow at Bournemouth Airport. The three routes provide excellent routes to Europe and allow our customer to travel further from their local Airport.”

easyJet expects to carry over 45,000 passengers on the Krakow route in the first 12 months from Bournemouth.

Seats to Krawkow go on sale on 18th July 2007 at www.easyJet.com

QWERTY9 - Your email to BOH airport seems to have worked as they have now updated their news section with the press releases for the two new Easyjet routes.

Does anyone know why Ryanair haven't released for sale the Madrid, Pisa, Marseille and Nantes routes? Are they all being dropped or is there the chance that FR are waiting to announce a base and operate these flights from based aircraft?

Great news on the Easy front.

MARKETING issues at BOH

is it THAT difficult to do a press release, speak to the media, do something fun on the homepage and relish the announcement that everyone has been waiting for for ages - that easyJet are expanding at BOH!?! This is major news and should be the envy of Southampton. The news hasn't even appeared in the daily echo or on any print material for local people to find out about... Still not appeared on flight information page either.

Planning Decision Heralds New Future For Bournemouth Airport
Bournemouth Airport is celebrating today after receiving confirmation from Government Office South West that the £32million redevelopment scheme approved by Christchurch Borough Council can go ahead.

Welcoming the Council’s decision, Bournemouth Airport, Managing Director Peter Duffy said:
“This is an important milestone in the history of the airport. Now we can begin to deliver the vision we set out in our Master Plan and deliver an airport of which the region can be proud.”

“It’s estimated that we will be handling three million passengers within ten years, so it’s important that we start work as soon as possible. By phasing construction over a four to five year period we will be able to build in a logical, cost-effective manner, delivering capacity only when required. This concept embraces the principles of sustainable development.”

The first phase of the terminal redevelopment will focus on the construction of a new international arrivals hall, together with new departure lounges with improved catering and retail facilities for departing passengers. Local business is set to benefit from the development as the project team is keen to source locally wherever possible.

As part of the planning permission, the Airport has committed to funding improved public transport links, establish an annual Community Fund of £10,000 (rising to £30,000 linked to passenger growth) to support local projects, and introduce a Green Travel Plan. Environmental mitigation will be a central feature of the project with the Airport committed to its operations becoming carbon neutral by 2015, enhanced noise and air quality monitoring and the introduction of ‘WebTrak’ - a web-based facility allowing the public to view the height and track of aircraft online.

These developments are an integral part of the Master Plan which was published earlier this year after extensive public consultation. It sets out how the Airport will develop in a sustainable manner over the next twenty-three years.

Work to start on the new arrivals, exented departures including more restaurants and shops in august. BOH is also talking about new trans atlantic routes within the next few years. You can watch the BBC local news report from the BBC website which gives more detail.

They really do need to do a better job of keeping the website up-to-date and to do more to publicise new routes. Still no mention of the new easyJet routes under winter destinations. News of the routes is still hidden away under announcements. There should be something prominent on the home page.
The home page still shows Ryanair as operating 7 routes despite the 8th route (to Nantes) starting over a month ago! Perhaps they're not bothering to change it, knowing that Shannon is being dropped.
It is great to see these new routes but they need to market them or they will pulled as quickly as they started.

On the route map it shows 8 routes out of BOH. And I see EZY have got a new route out off Hurn.
