Always remember - Mr Lake has said on several occasions that he is only here to make money.....
what a bizarre approach to life! Surely he should be like the rest of us, and go to work for the fun of it?

Thanks for joining in the discussion. Doc Holliday I’veconsidered what you have written but to be honest fail to see the logic in yourargument. Eastern has existed for around 15 years now. From the two Owners inhas meant a huge input in investment and risk. Of course they want to see areturn on their money. However year on year the company is making a goodprofit. The Owners cut themselves a nice cheque ever year and then use therecession as an excuse for not even providing staff with a cost of livingincrease.

By my own calculations I’m making 12% less than I was 5years ago yet I have to endure the owner of the company doing laps around Humberside in his new Spitfire, before driving home in one of his Austin Martins. I mean seriously putting up Thunder 3 outside the Sim building, is he just taking thePiss.

The status quo is not acceptable. The Staff have no Unionrepresentation and if anybody should dare to stir things up then indirect threats are implied.

Finally Doc Holliday I’m expressing my opinion to anyone whowill listen and care to have some input. As individuals we are blown off but ifwe stand together we do have the power to effect a positive change.

Question Job interview

Having read the latest re Eastern air, I'm now not sure I should be asking?
Possibly got an interview (1st ever) so would appreciate any help.
Interview questions:- what's likely to be on the agenda?
If successful, I assume you get a sim check? Anyone done one recently with them? What did it consist off?
Thanks for any help and advice. It's all knew to me.

at last....

It would appear that the CP has been asked to step down fromhis current position to make way for some new blood. One or two others alsoseem to be on the way out. This would appear to be a positive step forward forthe Company and has been greeted with great delight by all Crew that I’vespoken to. Hopefully some good times are ahead and we can start to burn those bloodystupid Hats!

Has he really been asked to step down, or is it a case of stepping up to Director of Flight Ops? At least someone will be getting a payrise then...

BH seems to be one of the main driving forces behind the hats and uniform fetish.

It actually worries me as to what kind of person would be egotistical and stupid enough to take on the job of Chief Pilot, having (unlike SJ) had a chance to see it for the job it is these days, rather than (perhaps) the job SJ took on a few years ago.

It must be difficult being the meat in two sociopaths' shared sandwich.

SJ has'nt been asked to step down.

BUDLEE: A BH/RL sandwich....Thats just wrong.

Not the hat thing again: If we were the only airline NOT wearing them, the argument would be FOR them. They keep your head warm in winter, dry in rain and look smart. Its company policy to wear them so lets fight against stuff thats important.

And before anyone pipes back. I regularly hear 'I'm not wearing fu@king hat out of principle'. then backtrack when JNX asks them where it is. WOWZA!

Now. Lets do soemthing more fun/important and guess what the payrise % is going to be. I'm with about 5%. Who knows whats planned for Bristol. Whats this i hear that RL is buying an EMB 170/190 and some helicopters.

What do people think of hats. Sorry, we've done that one.

new CP

Whether or not SJ has been asked to step down; the mainissue is that he’s leaving. It’s a Post Holder position and therefore the CAA willbe involved. I’m under no illusion ‘Rosterchangeagain’ that RL or BH may want asimilar type. However what I’m hoping is that they appoint someone who iseffective.

Many self-made men are autocratic and egotistical by theirvery nature. It’s just a fact. This is where the CP role at Eastern iscritical. He or she needs to stand up and be counted when it is necessary. Itis unacceptable to simple say ‘I’m just doing what I told’. RL & BH onlyhave the exact amount of power that the Staff at Eastern are prepared to givethem. This starts at the CPs Door.

Operation, Crewing, and Ground Services also need to be recognised.Everybody knows it, but under the current CP’s reign things have gone from badto worse. I’m hoping the new guy is a far better communicator, has soundorganisational abilities, and above all else injects some moral fibre into ourcompany.

And finally JamesT; are you serious? The Hats suck. We looklike Knobs. They serve no purpose at all!

Hats are for collecting tips from disembarking passengers, or when busking in the terminal, to suplement meagre wages..

Shut up or leave

One of my biggest gripes at Eastern are my fellow colleagues - the crew.

Stop whinging.

I love my job, I get paid for flying, that is why I started the long road to get where I am now. No I probably won't stay at Eastern for the rest of my career but I will get everything I personally can get and move on, wihthout bringing people down around me.

RL/BH is right - if you don't like it, leave. If that attitude ends his Company then fine, he has the right to take that attitude. It's HIS/THEIR Company, we just play in the back garden.

So, shut up or leave.

Sounds like RL has moved his bank accounts to Santander.... By the time the journalist has sexed it up, it's turned into "Major Finance Facility Negiotiations", "Investment pipeline turned on" and other such guff.

The last "growth" at head office involved bolting a upvc conservatory onto the back of the portacabin, to add an extra desk space...
