You can get airborne with destination below minima (extreme weather excepted)
You need then two alternates above minima. So getting airborne under these conditions is pretty normal. Obviously you see what the weather is doing, carry extra fuel, muffins, etc, bla, etc, bla.
WETDREAM.
Its ALWAYS our fault.

I don't think Eastern ops is H24. I think it runs on earlies and lates. Nonsense if thats the case. Plus, someone on here mentioned experience levels in ops as low - yes, that is very true and almost everyone if not everyone who works in their ops is stressed out and underpaid.
They need help in ops and help is out there but will Eastern take it? No is the probable answer.

Two going. One about to hand in their notice. I know of five on the train when called. A further three today waiting for interview dates. And two who are still bonded who will go if given an offer.
I wonder if HUY has realized (or care) that four years of no pay rise and no discernible T's & C's are going to take its toll very soon.
Quite concerned!!!!

It is always a double-edged sword when people leave. Good to see them on their way and bad because Eastern will try to deny that their leaving causes any problems, so they will simply work those that remain, even harder.
People leaving is the ONLY thing that registers eventually, but only when RL is told by a quivering underling, that we cannot run the schedule any more, due to lack of staff. This is, I believe, what very, very nearly happened during the last upturn. After shouting a lot, the relentless wonders of mathematics eventually prevail and he has to do something about it. Those who are employed by Eastern understand fully that he (and/or Bryan Huxford) are unconcerned by factors such as staff happiness, so long as the money rolls in and so long as they believe that the company's external glossy veneer remains unblemished.
If the flight deck who are on their way are on the Scatsta contract, these are the ones that are most difficult to replace, so it will cause Eastern the greatest problems.
It is such a shame, because when you talk to those who have been at Eastern for more than about 6 or 7 years, it used to be a genuinely good place to work.
Nowadays, it is the upturns that cause Eastern problems - not the downturns...

I've never known a company take so much delight in getting one over on its employees.
I think the tally of walkers was 4 in the end last week, you reap what you sow.

I was told by a colleague that vistajet had received over 40 applications from EA pilots. And these are ongoing.
Unless EA get a pay rise sorted and some sort of Ts & C's, we'll have to do single pilot ops.

You sure it was a '41?
There was a Saab 2000 in that part of the world on a charter around that time.
Not that unusual, a lot of Eastern's business is ad hoc work all over the European continent.

Are the extra Scatsta flights to do with the IAC contract? I've noticed an additional flight over the past two days, 1044/1045 on the Jetstream? Are the Aberdeen-Sumburgh flights oil charters too?
