Eastern SOU

Are Eastern still finishing the SOU service after TT? Anyone know when the last flight is. They're stll more expensive than Flybe but I fancy the blu boys down (if they dont cancel it) and come back on the final Eastern and toast the last one with as much of Mr Lakes free champagne as I can get down in the hour. itll be sad to see them stop.

Angel Blueislands D328

When Blueislands takes delivery of the leased Dornier 328 from Scotair, it could well be used on the Channel Islands route as the route is performing so well so a spokesperson has said.
We will have to wait and see though as this might be just a rumour.
On this distance it would be a good idea as this would give some cabin in flight refreshments so bring it on.

Blue island

I'd not heard about the Do228 but they are supposed to be looking to go double daily in August?

Erm - the 228 is the thing that looks after fish. The Do328 is the beast which transports people (well in the UK, anyway).

Clued up

You're right havent a clue, JER makes much more sense in a 328 than in a 228 (or even a J32)!

Manic on the rock

Manic here on the rock today. Baggage handlers got so frazzled that airport reverted to colour coded baggage tags so the ramp guys didn't need to Read anything! I suspect a record day on IOM in prospect for some airlines as TT exodus is in full flight and planes are full. Frazzled on Fraggle.

My mates in good old FS said a real to do on one of those BA jets. Too heavy and they had to take fuel and bags off just like lots predicted when those jets turned up. Hours late - just for a change. that flymaybe is getting truer but more like maybesometime today, tee hee. More littel aircraft on senior day than ive ever seen and the boys up in traffic control must have done a brill job, well done fellas. And the flapoperator. Haven't been advertising your new airline much recently. Where are you, fella.

Tinwald,

I think AFO is/has been busy with far more serious matters up on the mountain.

Winter times

They're probably scratching their heads to see how many crews and what aircraft they'll have left to allocate after key routes. Seems to me SOU is doing much better for FlyBe than Eastern and BHX is also getting decent loads so not much worry of them being cancelled.

IOM SPOTTER

Just because they are given the tickets away at stupid prices, the last Eastern service last Sunday had a full load.

Would have thought everything last Sunday had a full load.

The Flybe BHX-IOM route (operated ex BHX) is always nearly full - I know that from the experience of commuting IOM-BHX weekly for the previous two years on staff travel.

Incidentally, the IOM Flybe 146 crews are all on Q400 courses in August - the E145 crews follow in September, for a two Q400 operation from October.

May Passenger figs

I've looked on IOM Airport website for the May pax figures and they're not there yet. Are they being surpressed or just coming out late these days? They always used to come up within a week of month end. Any vibe who the winners and losers were on MAN, LCY, BHD and BHX?

They are there.

MAN was down 13.9% to 12030
LCY was up 5.9% to 6039
LGW was up 29.0% to 12956
BHD was up 4.2% to 2564
BHX was down 4.6% to 4929
LPL was down 13.3% to 12885

The biggest surprise (after the 1264.1% increase on EDI which was from Alpha1 to Loganair) was the BLK route which jumped 142.2% from 920 to 2228 passengers.

An other surprise is that BE's LGW route has now become the largest route from the Island, taking over from MAN and LPL who have dominated the scene for many years. This is probably due to the drop of the LTN route and the airport are looking to increase the flights to LON by finding another airline for STN or LTN flights. The LPL and MAN drops could not only be because of the loss of airlines/takeover deals, but because Manx2 are pulling the passengers from MAN and LPL to BLK with their cheaper and more frequent flights.

Euromanx has lost it's title as the number 1 carrier on the Island as Flybe carried 35.9% compared to Euromanx's 34.9% respectively. Manx2 also increase dramatically to 5843 passengers, which is as total of 8.6%.

Great news for the airport, even though the passenger numbers are still down on previous months, but the future looks bright.

Watch out for Manx2 when the next results are released. The TT has given their airline as massive boost, which was supported by an 82% load on the BLK route alone in the month of May.

Congrats IOM and I can't wait for next months figures!

Airport as a whole still struggling badly, no sign of an upturn, but I suppose its just a reflection of the economy as a whole. Junes figures will be a one off as it was the 100th TT, lets wait for July for a true picture.

I agree with MUFC. I think Manx2 will be the silent assassin to all the airlines. It seems they're building up a good business on the Isle of Man.
