If you follow the link from the BBC News site to the Coventry Airport site, then click on the news item then everything is clear.
"That will include both a technology office park and manufacturing and distribution investment opportunities - totaling more than 200 acres - alongside improving the airport’s passenger terminal and cargo facilities."

According to the BBC local news Sir Peter wants to develop the land 'around' the airfield into a business park including manufacturing whilst still pressing on with the airport resurrection and he's got £250 million to finance it.
In the interview he said still intends to introduce passenger flights at some stage.
Intends to build a new road through to the A45.
Something tells me that road will cost Coventry ratepayers a tidy sum.
If the airport fails again at later date Sir Peter is sitting on a goldmine, well, a gravel mine anyway.
I'd still love to see the contract he signed with Coventry Council.

coventry airport
Well 2 years on and we are still hanging on a thread aboubt the grand reopening of the Airport with Aeroplanes flocking in the skies to land.
NO WAY IS COVENTRY AIRPORT GOING TO BE 5% OF WHAT IT WAS IN THE OLD DAYS
Sir Peter who-ever will get sick as I am sure his advisiors will of putting Money on a 3 Legged Horse
I said some 18 month ago it will become a housing estate well I was wrong
It will become an Industrial Park Estate whatever.
Hes only extending the road from the A45 to allow Bigger and more trucks to acess the site..
He will get tired very soon of losing his money and give up and just sell the lot
Sorry all Coventry Airport Lovers but u know this will be the Outcome.

He is linking all this to the fact that the site is on the Governments list as a possible 'Enterprise zone' attracting investment and subsidies as well as tax relief. little to do with the airport as an airport really, although it is bound to benefit in a small way.
I wonder if he will invest as much if it is not successful in the second round of competition for a zone? I think they are named in July.....

As for the rest, the airport already supports a number of jobs and companies, (Skyferry being one of them) The "new" museum opened today.

Scheduled Passenger flights at Coventry
Any news of any Passenger airlines wanting to start operating
from Coventry airport yet. ????
Wonder if the easyJet product would work if they operated into and
out of Coventry.
I say easyjet as there nearest bases to Coventry are Manchester and Luton which are some distance away.
