So, Rwy in Sight, are we then saying that we all know BA is crap, but it doesn't matter cause people will just have to grin and bare it ?

And I thought the Italians were bad !

at the risk of sounding controversial i have just completed (this week)LHR-BWI and back on BA from T4 with a 5 monther and a three year old and can only say that the experience was pretty painless.

the only real delay being the not so "speedy" bag drop at T4 after checking in online.

Both sectors on time (Early coming back! despite a long taxi from 27R) sky bridge to both aircraft whose AVOD worked perfectly keeping my 3 year old quiet for the majority of the flight....

The aircraft (763's) were clean and crew were fine.....even all of our 4 bags turned up.

i know i'm only a mere passenger but it really was quite good and BWI is a pure pleasure compared to IAD which is complete and utter chaos.

just a two penneth.

And correct me if I am wrong BA has some pretty large accouts so employees fly them no matter what.
Yes, thats true that BA do have large accounts with companies. However, the company I work for has now given us the freedom to chose who we fly with. In the past it was always BA as a first choice and we used to get questioned if we did not book BA. In fact for flights to NRT we are told to fly ANA as a first option, we can only use BA if ANA are full and that booking with BA has to be management approved.

Our Travel Dept is given feedback from travellers within the company and many are getting fed up with T4 problems and to some extent the delays that also affect T1.

Though I have to say that my last 2 trips out/in through T4 were ok with very minor delays.

BA do need a wake up call but how do you wake up management that are already fast asleep and seem oblivious to everything going on around them.

Regards,

I feel truly blessed. Have flown through T4 about 20 times in last 3 years and longest had to wait was 10 minutes whilst a/c pushed off our stand. Came back from Calgary last thursday , and apart from 5 minute wait to cross 27L, in baggage hall within 5 minutes of parking and baggage on roundabout within another 5.
Perhaps I'm a lucky charm. I'm available for hire to accompany anyone if they want to share my luck...
You want queues and delays try clearing immigration in Vancouver. 1 hour 25minutes and not even a finger print or retina scan to show for it.

When BA move to T5 how do they expect it to get better. It sounds like a lack of staff and equipment!

I had a the ''pleasure' of working for BA during the summer and having delat with countless amount BA T4 passengers all I can say is I HATE both of them and wont forgive BA for what they did to me! Id rather fly anyone else.

I'm only a small fish, but in the last 12 months I've had 131 Business Class flights.

Of these, 2 were unfortunately via LHR. What an expensive, squalid dump that place is. And as for the immigration queues...

At least I wasn't flying ba, so arrival on stand after half an hour or so's holding over LAM wasn't delayed even further on the way home.

In my job as an aviation consultant, I have only 2 travel stipulations:

1. No flying to/from LHR unless there is no feasible alternative.
2. No flying with ba. EVER.

Things seem to have calmed down a bit recently in my experience. I've done a couple of T4 rotations and loads of T1 flights this summer and never had to wait for a stand or a tug, and my bags have all been interlined fine.

That said I always avoid the 6 week summer holiday "summer" and fly just before it and just after it for my trips. Too many bad experiences during the school holidays have now been negated by numerous flawless BA trips either side of it.

And lets be honest, BA's premium product knocks most of their London competitors out of the water, so they will keep seeing me, alongside all their valuable clients who they have corporate deals with.

I'm currently sending our engineers out via AMS or CDG (the airlines vary) but LHR is just too much hassle.

It's funny how some airports are ghastly for some peple.
Just got in from an IAD red eye. All bags out of the US are screened. Apart from the fact that the baggage screening machine was idiotically sited and that there were no instructions for passengers as to what the check in drill was, IAD was, both coming and going, an absolute pleasure. You can get really good ice cream there too!
As usual, any cabin shortcomings that KLM might have as against BA were more than made up for by the transit, lounges and facilites at AMS. The final destination, on this trip, Norwich, was rather like arriving at an arrivals shed at Kampala in the old days only without the heat. Something to show for the Norwich airport £3.00 departure tax too then?

I got back from the states a couple of weeks ago with BA. Parked on 424, guidance on, no waiting. Worst part was waiting for the bags to arrive. Walk was nice after a long flight. Before anyone starts, I know this was a good day. Just annoyed BA are dropping the DTW route.

WOW!

I think people may actually want to visit LHR! It will certainly give One World an advantage over the other alliances with a world class terminal!

Already booked on a flight 1st April! MAN-LHR return!

Visit EGLL?

I'd rather visit my dentist...

I suppose both have something in common...both are a PAIN IN THE TEETH.

Air Transat at Heathrow 30 Sept

Hello,

Just a simple question. Dad was wondering why an Air Transat A330 landed at Heathrow (09L) at about 1130 on 30th September.

Just curious.

Thanks

Air Transat operate Sat and Sun between LHR and YYZ during the summer. Next year, they'll operate Fri, Sat and Sun between May and the end of October.

Angel Heathrow T5

I heard a lot of conflicting reports about LHR5 and when it starts up and who flies there and people no long knowing just what flies from which terminal.

Is it true that Delta are relocating from LGW to LHR?

Are any of the remaining (constantly in process of improvements) terminals to be pulled down?

Does anyone actually know from which terminal who or what will be flying this time next year?

Thks

Delta will almost certainly have a few LHR flights next year (nothing officially announced yet though) but they will still have LGW operations. Indeed they may plan to retain LHR and LGW operations side by side long term

T4 is to be modernised for the Skyteam alliance airlines moving into it when BA switches to Terminal 5.

Terminal 3 will unergo a multi million pound revamp (about time it's in a right state) for all the other oneworld alliance airlines apart from BA, and Virgin Atlantic

Terminal 2 is to be completely demolished as it isn't able to cope with growing passenger numbers. The new terminal called Heathrow East will replace it

Terminal 1 will be modernised and the Star Alliance airlines will use it. It will eventually be demolished, because Heathrow East will be the size of terminals one and two together.
