i wouldent be at all surprised if shannon manages to get edinburgh back with Aer lingus regional, theres a lot of changes to their network at the moment with munster dropped from SEN and the new flybe base at IOM, so perhaps they will want to focus more on EI regional routes from 2016.

I came across a six year summary of passenger statistics for Shannon (apologies on the poor formatting), just to illuminate that question of "where did the passengers go?"
Transatlantic 287,923 319,856 349,381 442,147 574,843 746,551
Britain 735,967 752,903 761,789 1,062,915 1,139,970 1,253,570
Continental
Europe 236,118 269,718 323,358 888,946 1,020,437 1,066,630
Other
International 581 745 1,063 869 2,820 507
Domestic 1,393 1,649 25,064 52,448 96,836 89,034
Transit 132,799 280,582 295,230 347,238 334,623 464,331
Total 1,394,781 1,625,453 1,755,885 2,794,563 3,169,529 3,620,623
The key components of the 2 million plus fall in numbers seems to be about 400,000 Transatlantic, 500,000 Britain, 750,000 Europe and 300,000 transit.

Interesting. Transatlantic traffic has increased massively since 2012, next summer there will be 6 daily services to the USA, at least one of which will be operated by a 767-300.
European traffic has also increased, but will probably fall for 2016 should no new services/service increases be announced.
UK traffic has collapsed this year, with the weak pound and the loss of most of stobarts operations, I don't think we are any better off than in 2012.
Transit has fallen significantly, I doubt we will ever see much of it return and to be honest its not vital to the airport.

Aer Lingus will increase capacity to Heathrow, becomes an A320 service as the A319s leave the fleet.
Malaga and Faro both get an extra weekly frequency each.
Shannon Airport
Aer Lingus - More Flights and New Locations - Soak up the sun!
Good news!

Good news alright, there's only 10 days left of the A319 at SNN before its replaced with an A320. Seems my source was right with the FAO and AGP increases, always wanted. Seem Aer Lingus are not giving into Ryanair! 7weekly to FAO and AGP peak season from SNN next summer between Ryanair and Aer Lingus. That's alot of sun.

Good news. Whatever about Malaga, Faro is a big success from Shannon imo. Both Ryanair and Aer Lingus doing well on that route and not at bargain prices either. have used both a few times myself this year

that should be interesting, wonder will they stick with 2 based aircraft or increase, and if they take on Edinburgh or Glasgow. Id say they will announce cph and maybe cgn as new routes to compete with ei from cork.

Why does this article not give me much hope? The TD emailed the airport asking a question about the Scottish service requesting they ask airlines to put in a service (Is he for real? Does he think it's SNN' management stopping a service?) And the airline replied with their standard response, which I've gotten several times. He then contacted a few newspapers to make it seem like he's doing something. Complete non-story IMO.

Apparently an Edinburgh service is go be announced by Ryanair next week, around 3/4pw. Something else too, not sure what. This is just workplace rumours so don't hold me by it.
