WRONG! If the airline was ego driven then they wouldn't have made the hard decision to pull out of the route once it was clear that the revenues weren't matching the projections... shows good management, not bad, methinks!

Shame to see LCY being cut... It was always going to need a large yield.
Anyway, of bigger significance I think: Does Dash-7 care to elaborate.... No 6th plane? Why the sudden change of heart? I thought the aircraft to be G-WOWF was in the country?

dont think that SZ would ever get slots at LHR unless they were to operate a codeshare for BA using BA slots which is very unlikely!
i think that the current LGW routes would be better served with codeshares on BA as well as this would allow onward connections on the network from LGW !

The LHR slots were Brymons and BA bought Brymon in the 90's and are like goldust. A 56 seater is not the best use of a LHR slot so BA transferred the 3 times daily PLH -LHR to LGW.
(Some might argue that BA only bought Brymon for the LHR slots.)

G-WOWF: Yes the removal of LCY has created a bit more capacity in the timetable, but is it enough to get rid of the Eastern aircraft on permanent(ish) standby? Which was after all one of the reasons for acquiring WOWF.

PLYMOUTH'S airline Air Southwest is to be sold, owners Sutton Harbour Holdings said today.
In the preliminary resuilts for the last financial year, Sutton chairman Michal Knight said: "To enable the Group to resource core activities more effectively the board has taken the decision to dispose the airline division Air Southwest."
The move comes despite record results for the Plymouth airline to property development company SHH plc.
Mr Knight said: "The Group reports record results in its regeneration and marine divisions, against the backdrop of a sharp deterioration of results within the transport sector caused by the difficult economy."

I hope WOW remains independent and continues to offer much needed competition in the Southwest, it would be bad news all round to have a monopoly in the region.
The only saving grace is that BE operate entirely Q400 and E195 fleets which are too large for PLH. Although I suppose they could purchase WOW, kill the competition, and dump PLH in one swoop.
I know its early days but are there any potentially interested parties?

Would it be too much for blue islands to take over? The DH8C are a better a/c then their ATR43. From what I have heard WOW is a good little business, or is that the reason why they are selling?
I have experience of selling companies so suggest the following might be the scenario.
Why would any other carrier want to buy 'it', what is 'it'. A handful of leased aircraft operating on marginal routes, different of course if the aircraft are on the balance sheet. No doubt the costs of operating ex PLH will be absorbed by the parent companies balance sheet to enhance the airline for sale so where is the value is the question. An outside investor or someone who wants to get into the business quickly is most likely otherwise suggest ebay.

Bravo - you can add to that Plymouth airport, because if a company like SHH which owns both and is able to do some creative accounting cannot make it commercially viable no one will.

ATI's database shows one aircraft (G-WOWC) owned by Air Southwest, with the other Dash8s owned by various lessors (Airplanes Group, Bombardier Capital, Aircraft Leasing Services). Strangely it also lists Air Southwest as operating a Saab 2000 (G-CDKB) - did I miss something?

Surely the angle here is to dump the airline for whatever they can get, then close Plymouth Airport as it would by default become completely non-viable. That then allows them to to turn the land (right in the centre of town) into commercial or residential property, whereupon Sutton Harbour Group will make far more than could ever be possible from running either an airline or an airport? Any ops in that part of the world can relocate to Newquay or Exeter perhaps.
