The reason I don't think we'd see EZY is that they don't have enough bases in the locations we want. The only base they have that we want, and FR doesn't is Paris Orly. With a LCC we could have three rotations to there all year round or at the very least February to September.
EZY could do LGW as well but not as successfully as Flybe could with either a Dash or Emb. As they would be able to do 2 profitable return routes morning and night, were EZY could only do 1. BE win's out on flexibility.
With recent oil rises too, the true LCC's are becoming less and less cheap, whilst BE with it's fuel efficient fleet are keeping prices steady.
Eventually, probably by 2013, I see BE with routes to EDI, LGW, either BRS or CWL, either LBA or NCL and if we were really lucky a route to Paris.
I still have my bets on Jet2 as the third airline to enter. It'd be perfect for the sun routes with the right sized 733. It would encourage FR to take us more seriously whilst drive value and routes on offer. Finally, at least their announcement would be followed by good advertising campaigns... remember Muff!

Carnmanorlad, you misunderstand. I'm not suggesting you're judging WW on one month's operations, but rather some other people who seem to want them to fail, are.
What happens WW at BHD, will have little or no effect on LDY.
NC, yeah I could see Jet2 doing sun routes in the future, especially if the long mooted EZY expansion ay BFS leads to route clashes.

Not long now until March's figures are out... and I'm glad I'm two of them! Here's hoping for another 9% growth, but any growth will be good!
Particularly excited about Aprils figures as we have around 2300 extra seats available than last year. Could see double digit growth, and even higher double digit growth in May with around 5800 extra seats on sale! Very exciting times indeed!

Dalai Lama flew into City of Derry Airport this morning to attend an event in the city.
Uni honour for Dalai Lama

Great to see him flying into LDY (at least somebody does on a Tuesday!).
Anyway, big announcement at BHD, with Baby starting new sunshine routes next summer. Also, Amsterdam announced as of October.
I wonder what, if any, action BE will take in response. None of the new routes compete directly with BE, but do with EZY, LS and FR.
Interesting times ahead for the Province's three airports.

BE might try another new route from LDY. I think there here for the long run. I can see them picking up the NOC-MAN route too once WW are gone.
CML. It all depends on the frequency of the offer from BHD. If WW can make timings/frequencies attractive then people will use them.
I agree about BE. They're here for the long-run. I just wish they'd make the LDY-MAN a year round feature, rather than a "summer" route.

Malaga, Alicante, Palma, Faro and Ibiza announced from Belfast.
These are the usual suspects, there is no difficulty in running a route to these destinations as the Northern Ireland passenger pool to each of these routes is 100K+ pax p.a. (Malaga nearly 200K)
The only question is why Ryanair aren't running LDY to AGP (and why such a mess has been made of the ALC route)
Will this encourage or discourage Ryanair from launching LDY to AGP? In theory it should discourage them but in practice Ryanair often seem to launch routes in reaction to the competition.

I think we're going to definitely see more routes from BE. BHD is obviously after larger aircraft due to there flight number cap. And as BE have smaller aircraft, they're loosing out. I think this is a wrong move by BHD as BE have been nothing but reliable to BHD and are more reliable that BMIBaby ever will be.
As Flybe continue to get messed about at the airports, we'll definitely see more and more routes coming our way.
I think we'll have ALC next year after the spat by MOL is finished. Would hope for PMI and REU as well... perhaps even a third new route.
STN double dailys start on Friday!

Also Tenerife starts on Tuesday, with the first flight being almost full (though I have no idea if there are any restrictions on pax for this).

CML, Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that I though BE would come in and grab the ALC route, would be nice but could be a bit of a stretch. I meant I think MOL will return to ALC with his metephorical tail between his legs. I do see BE moving routes it operates from BHD to LDY, and perhaps downsizing the rotations to certain destinations in the UK, from BHD to LDY.
CU, I done some rough working out and with these two extra flights per week we should hopefully see an increase in the STN route of 25k per annum! Here's to more rotations being announced!
I also would wait CU, I bet by a month into the MAN service we'll see it going yearly, after all what will they do with the aircraft! Would be good to see some SKI connections over winter too!
Finally, regarding TFS, I think I read a while back that two rows will be closed off to make it there. But that's still around 156 pax per flights (I think)

RE287 DUB-LDY landed at 1927 tonight but RE288 LDY-DUB was cancelled. Would it be due to a tech issue that occured after landing?

Speedbird, your not making sense. The flight landed in LDY as normal at 1927 but didnt depart as it was cancelled. I presume it must be a tech issue cause even if there were no passengers to go out it would still depart back to DUB.

Carn, what I'm saying is that if the return flight was empty, the departures board may simply just read 'cancelled'. If it was a tech issue they usually write on, that the passengers were bussed by road or something along those lines.
