I would wait till tommorow to see the the new route available to book, their a huge airline with massive schedules to chop & change ! even when they announced those 6 new routes into Cork and the announcement had been published on their website it was the next day before any of them where bookable. Patience is required with Ryanair im afraid, never the less great to hear European Destinations are on the up again at LDY!!
Jack's spot-on.
These things take time. Good news, and let's hope it gets the support it needs.
It is however, just one route. It will contribute to getting the airport back above 400,000 pax/year, but is no panacea.
Still, Ilex wanted 10 routes by 2013. Looks like we're going to have 12 by the middle of the year.

Finally, I know I've nagged about this again and again but is there substance to the two extra routes claim. Someone else mentioned that BE should be making an an annoucement any time now... is this just unverified speculation.

Is it possible that the two routes might actually be BHD and DUB with MANX2?

Belfast and Dublin could well be the two new routes, but I'd have to admit it'd be a lot less exciting than the introduction of two new routes to the UK or Europe!
I may have cracked and sent an email of enquiry to Flybe at [email protected]. And before you say it, yes I know they would deny new routes even if they were thinking of them and I will probably get a Dear, John response... but it can't be bad to cement the fact that there is demand for them to come. And further enquires from others would only serve to further cement that demand.

Manx2 taking over LDY-DUB when the PSO expires in July? Fair enough. LDY-BHD? No chance.
At the prices Manx2 charge, I CANNOT see there being any demand for this, and it would be pointless to strive to have flights taking pax away from LDY and depositing them at BHD.
No, the two routes in "final discussion" as referred to by ALPHA ECHO are, in my opinion, either two more from RYR, or more likely, a new operator bringing two domestic routes (which CODA Ltd have been striving for all along).
Only time will tell.

I am delighted that Tenerife will be the new route because Tenerife is just the 10th busiest international route out of Northern Ireland so if that can be made to work then the other 8 can! (8? the 9th is to New York).
The only question really is whether the airport can sustain a "big bang" approach of announcing 6 new routes simultaneously or whether it is better to have a drip feed of a new route per year over the next 6 years.
Tenerife carried 57,000 pax in 2009. Previously it had been carrying closer to 90,000 so there was presumably a carrier loss or frequency reduction or something but it does mean there should be good demand for the Derry route. Curiously Lanzarote seems to have jumped ahead in the same time period.
