^^Why does this bother you? If people want to do it let them. Might not be doing it for a job but to see if they are at least competitive.

=Jason-
Jason, unfortunately Brisdude is absolutely right. If you want it go get it....this is TOTALLY useless with all due respect. This is talk from people who are or were in the system! This Is Africa...TIA.

And how exactly does it show whether you are competitive in this market?! That is total rubbish sorry...

To be honest, I quite enjoy reading what people have.
They spend thousands of dollars, pounds, euros or whatever on A320 ratings and the like, and then come to Africa looking for single piston jobs.
Plus I can see what I am up against

Namibia and other things

Regarding the rating on 210-206 some people say i should get it before flying down there, others say I shouldnt. I know i´m going to need to get checked out with an instructor but will having the rating help me get the job?

Next question: I have 1000TT with 400ME mainly on Baron (SAR operation), I talked to some people that told me to forget Namibia and go to other countrys since they are only hiering expats to fly 210/206, also he said that know the sortage of pilots in this country is not such.
Other told me to go there since there are more ME jobs.. My idea was to get into a ME after flying sometime in the 210 but a friend with more than 1600TT mainly on 210 flying in Namibia told me that even knowing lots of people he was unable to advance to a ME. With my experience, should I try or its just not worth it?

I am interested in all the southern countrys operators that fly Baron, I have a big list but I´m sure I am missing some, any help would be good.

thanks

Multi turbine is nice - are you willing to do single engine piston? Come to Africa with Kingair etc time and expect to be thrown on a 206.

Log books carry weight there (and I was there) but you start at the bottom. Honestly if the blokes aren't willing to have a beer with you - goodbye. If you think a Kingair/320/737NG will help you out - good luck to you.

I did my time bush in Africa and PNG and that is where you meet the real pilots who didnt pay for ratings, training or uniforms.

If you want to go bush to reinforce your ratings look elsewhere.

Everyone here wants to start at the bottom and expect to go up in plane types and imporve experience on our careers, sooner or later. I dont think there is anybody here that wants to get a job in 206 and spend the rest of his life flying that type
Just going to were there are jobs now

Check your grammar and spelling when applying for work would be a good start. Does not leave a good first impression.

I think what the ever helpful lilflyboy262...2 is trying to tell you is that there aren't really enough jobs to go around for those down here, some of whom might have experience on C310,Qs or Rs and the Do228.
The Dornier 228 is a curious aircraft to have on one's licence. It's a great machine to operate especially in the jungle or the desert. On balance though, it's perhaps not as useful as a B200 would be as a first turbine. You'd not be the first one knocking on the Africa door with a shiny licence and a Do228 rating. Is some training organisation somewhere selling type ratings on the Do228 as an initial turbine conversion? There're only around 130 or so world wide and the Garrett engine is not a common one.

Stop by pro charter. Lots of pilots there who'll give you a hand. Probably looking for pilots over 1000tt in the next couple of months

Hey vendetta,

we don't know whether you would be able to get a job in Africa with 270TT.

If you would have taken the time and gone through the information that has been written up here on this forum by people like lilflyboy262...2 instead of expecting to be silverspoonfed, you would know the answer to your question.

Can you imagine how frustrating it is, to provide good, valid information year after year and then getting posts like yours, were it is obvious that you have not taken to the trouble of reading the previous 9 pages of this thread?
