Do check flapless wings' first few posts, he has a negative attitude towards young low hour cpl holders in general.

I really didn't mean to be rude, or offend anyone, but there are quite a few guys flaming young wannabes and low hour cpl holders.

Many new cpl holders or wannabes do make mistakes, say the wrong things, and stand to be corrected, but please don't blanket everybody in an unfair way. I have seen this happening in other threads as well.

I am sure most cpl holders and wannabes appreciate all the people who gave constructive advise and criticisms, even if they sounded a bit negative or harsh, it was done with good intentions, most cpl holders will welcome more of it.

@ INDAIR, any news about Chimes Aviation? Are they any openings for AFI's . You left out MDLR and Jagson, are they still hiring? Last I heard, they were also asking for a large upfront payment for type ratings.

well mr donkey is not wrong i also do believe that many guys think that affixing the title "captain" to their name is their right from the moment they blurt the word "aviation".. visit any of the aviation related communities on orkut and ull find what im saying true.. but as jetzup says its not right to paint everyone with the same brush.. anyways all i would request is to stick to the thread and stay true to the motive of the thread and abstain from unnecessary banter.. for a moment i got all excited when i saw the no. of posts in this threads upto 24 thinking there might be some news posted regarding the vacancy scene which i dont know of, only to be disappointed by some vile "donkey bashing" we know that this a serious forum for discussion where "best flying club in the world" type debates are not encouraged.. so why not try and bring in some fresh encouraging news or rumours on vacancies alike..

and yes chimes aviation has come u p with ad's for AFI's .. its a worthy option but my question to all my mates here is that generally all the cpl holders like me who came after conversion maybe having around 120 -130 max solo hours while on the other hand AFI rating needs 200 pic hours with "patter flying" which chimes is ready to provide.. so unless the school wants to offer a discount fr the remaining 70 odd hours with a bond do you intend to pay for it from your pocket keeping in mind the hourly rates in india of a 152 is almost double to that of places like canada

hey thanks tushar for that, finally some real input, I didn't have any news to get the thread back on track....lots of cpl holders are in oz or u.s to do their cfi and some have logged hours that should just be enough to reach the required p.i c. I am eligible for it too, but am exploring other options right now.

rumour time!!

the grape vine has it that air india might come up again this august and then with indian airlines in january... a bloke who has his uncle as an examiner with jet(9w} said " dont tel anyonE BUT JET IS GOIN TO RECRUIT IN MARCH 10' il complete my cpl by then"' i dont belive the jet part though

there is no proof behind what i have said and as i admitted its total rumour true or false only time wil tell.. but the news could be enough for cpl holders like me to have their tails up .. u can reject this post as u please but i didnt post it for the heck of it .. i heard something and i brought it forward as its a "rumour network" any criticism of the post postive or negative is welcomed...

meanwhile im hoping our "sting operation " expert agent123 could enlighten us wid sum inside info guys with contacts its time to get unselfish and please put sum info forward...lets play the competition out on a neutral level

My intention was not to troll. I speak from experience. We have tons of Indian and Chinese students coming to train. All with very poor english and big dreams fed to them by the new startup airlines. I have found that although both the Indian and Chinese students are willing to learn, the Indian students have come with an attitude that they are the s***. The programs feed into this to boost their confidence by letting them wear pilot shirts with 4 bar epaulettes.

Everytime I come in for fuel you should see these guys with their giant aviator glasses standing beside their Cessna 150s. They also love to tell you that when they get back to India they will be flying airliners and instructors are getting sick of dealing with their attitude and poor flying skills. Not to offend anyone but if you guys over their think you are really that good, let me tell you that out of 5 schools which are teaching Indian students over here, of which I know instructors and owners, almost all of you are just scrapping by. Instructors are leaving in huge numbers because they cant stand you almost killing them every flight. You will eventually leave these schools only to be babysat by another of our experienced pilots flying for your carriers.

Your possibly not getting very much support as a low timer because on the other side of the globe where you are mostly training, pilots love to fly and pay their dues for years to sit in a seat of an airliner. Chucking heavy bags for years or instructing or flying in the arctic. They build up their flying skills and experience and then move on to better things. We dont have a system that feeds us baloney about aviation being glamourous and people wanting to become pilots to be respected and get paid a lot of money. If you do it for that reason, you will be a very crappy pilot.

I saw just recently that a bunch of Indian students are suing an airline for not telling them about interview results. They bought into the hype, spent tens of thousands of dollars and now are disappointed. Guess what, every pilot I knew didnt fly or get a flying job for a year to two years after graduating... and that was in good times too.

My advice for the low timers, lose the attitude that you are boss and make sure you are learning whats required of you properly, it could some day, save your life.

Sorry tushar...

I hear you glorified donkey, and I really feel bad that you had such a bad experience with wannabes. There are some good and bad apples, and if you had come across mostly bad ones, then I really emphathize with you and understand why you feel the way you do.

Some guys who went for the training were quite immature. It was real for them, as there were lots of people jumping into rhs after cpl, but it was no excuse to act in the ways you described. And kids tend to brag and all that, generally I just ignore it and just think, kids, and put them in their places when needed.

However, I also made very good friends, who are nothing like what you described. It is a matter of experience. It becomes a bit controversial to generalize or stereotype, it leads to a lot of resentment towards some young indian pilots of whom you've never met or been dealing with.

My American instructor and I still have a great instructor-student friendship, after the course, and I sort of hero worship him for being such a great instructor.

Regarding things happening in India, there are a lot of corruption. Which is for another thread and another time of discussion.

I believe those guys you described, though I don't know them, now would have to come to terms with it, like it or not. Hopefully it will be good lesson about the aviation business and its vicissitudes and help them to be a good pilot. Some will be doomed by their own behaviour and will be unable to change obviously, but that also applies to everybody.

This thread is for information purposes for everyone, so I would appreciate if you can contribute in a positive way related to it when you can.

way out of topic i reckon coco when some lambaste the very pilots including senior ones without batting an eyelid... we call aviation industry the most regulated in the world i dont think airlines in India are so foolish that they will give into nepotism or bureaucratic bottlenecks so easily compromising on aviation safety ,what about the up gradation to command from R.H.S they cant let loose trash fly the million dollar babies the entire airlines risks going bankrupt with a bad pilot at the helm.. agent im sorry but i have to admit that ur posts have been very negative i know u have excellent info from various sources but please draw a line the guys who get in thru "jack" or "moolah' or both will remain eternal first officers if they dont perform in the routine sim checks.. so why not lets mind our business we just need one r.h.s dont we not 40 right?? those unworthy "captains" can bask in the glory of their first solo or ppl. till the dust settles in...
atleast this is my inference from my limited knowledge

again guys please refrain from useless bellow its not helping anyone.. lets just call truce and start again by bringing in some constructive stuff

agent and glorified donkey please make another thread namely "die wannabes die" nd vent ur anger there...

thnx coco..

i wonder where is indair cmon man where r u... need some policing here

@Glorified Donkey

What do your (rather ignorant and rude) posts have to do with vacancies in Indian aviation ? However, if I may indulge a bit, I'd to open your eyes a bit, as far as 'earning one's dues' in India goes :
1. India's GA sector is virtually non-existent. Ergo, very few instructing jobs.
2. "Chucking bags" doesn't pay as much as one would think (surprise, surprise).
3. I'm sure you'd appreciate the fact that India isn't close to the Arctic. Thus, no flying to be done there.
4. They don't tell you that being a pilot is glamorous in your part of the world because it isn't. Pilots compete with Wal-Mart employees, as far as salaries go. Oh, BTW, there are still enough FTO's who bull**** you about the availability of jobs, and there are enough people to fall for it.
5. That case you're referring to would probably be Air India's recruitment being challenged. I don't think any Indian (or anyone who doesn't talk without any understanding of the system) minds that.
6. Out of curiosity - where do you work and as what ? You seem to have quite an opinion on how one should become that perfect pilot and become a success in life. I'd like to know whether you're speaking out of experience or you're trying to run down Indian's generally.

Apologies for going OT. I will not reply to such posts henceforth.

@agent123
I doubt SpiceJet will hire anytime soon. They have quite a backlog as far as their own cadet pilots are concerned.

Without a valid IR no one will even look at you, especially the Airlines. Its a hassle to renew especially if unemployed and you have to pay out of the pocket but it is necessary

@Glorified Donkey ... I was instructing for sometime in US and now I am flying the airliner in India as well so I exactly know what you are talking about.. but you ve seen these guys as virgins i.e. with a lot of attitude flying their 152s but you need to come to india and see their attitude change after they ve been raped by DGCA ... all their attitude would have been crushed.. and even after being raped, if they posses that bad attitude then there are the captains here who whip them in their butt to get them on track just incase they join an airline..
So theres really a sea of change in their attitude when the reality strikes !

@agent 123 ... Good Prediction hope being optimistic helps a lot of folks !

@tangowithtushar&@coco ... good posts guys..

@jetzup ... I ll verify regarding chimes and update in the first page..

@airforceone13 ... Well I suggest you get your IR renewed just when an pottential employer calls i think you know what I mean but having ur IR i feel is a must because there would be no. of other applicants who would have their IR current..
Remember every no you say is a negative mark on your application..
HR: Is your IR current ?
You: NO.
thats exactly what I mean..

If you think applying to an airline without a valid IR is going to even give you a chance than you are really out of touch with reality. Airlines want to make sure that you can fly IFR and you can renew it. They are not going to pay all that money to train you for a Type Rating, which would renew your IFR and you bomb it because your skills are not up to par. Perhaps the standards over there are different, everywhere else in the world if you dont have an IFR you dont have a shot. Especially a low timer.

Well, Air India had not asked for a current IR/ME Rating the last time they advertised. That said, I think airlines do ask for a current IR before going off for your type rating. I might be wrong, however (on the IR before TR part).

Did you also know that a couple years ago Air India and several other carriers sent their pilots for initials on A320/737/CRJ. Boeing, CAE and Flight Safety sent most of them back because they didnt even have a multi rating at all. I wouldn't rely to much on what they say and just make sure you're legal to fly with current ratings on your license.
