adolf,

I fully respect the right of anyone seeking employment, or change, to ask any question(s) in their endeavors and wish them every success.

I have sought to correct misinformation and provide relevant information, including union representation and to whom, in order that prudent choices may be made by prospective applicants. Remember, some pilots may be leaving a career with an airline to join Norwegian via a 3-year fixed term, temporary “career” with a staffing agency.

My post on the previous page details the way to a more secure working relationship directly with the Norwegian airline for ALL their pilots, rather than the present fragile and insecure relationship via a service provider. This outcome is desired by the Norwegian Pilot Group and stated on their website – link:

http://norwegianpilotgroup.org/

The US based cabin crews have achieved some success with the help of the National Mediation Board. Unfortunately, Norwegian is obstructing their Collective Labor Agreement by refusing roster changes for two representatives to attend negotiation meetings. Spanish pilots are also facing obstruction in their CLA with Orient Ship Management and a non-airline, Norwegian Resource Group. Spanish cabin crews have threatened to strike if they cannot achieve representation directly to the Norwegian airline.

With the inordinate Kjos propaganda of Norwegian’s expansion and reported desperate need for pilots, combined with last summer’s debacle of thousands of passengers left stranded and distraught by cancelled flights due to a lack of pilots, there may never be a better bargaining opportunity.

Perhaps you, or any other person, can provide a reason why Norwegian’s pilots continue to pay union dues for representation to a staffing agency, when the ability to have union representation, a CLA and associated labor rights directly with the Norwegian airline is available.

And still, the lectures keep on coming.

The thread title is 'Norwegian B737 Pilot selection' - just a hint for you.

All the best.

uchy 11th February 2017 13:39

Are u sure that u need at least 2 opc before become captain? A friend of mine became cpt after very few months...

APU_inop 11th February 2017 14:10

Then he/she probably joined as a DEC, the way I've understood it is that you cannot cut the master seniority list.

So, to confirm, will the 737 Max in the UK & Ireland be separate from the standard 737-800 operations? Will the pilots currently flying the 800 be able to bid the Max or is that completely separate? I understand the U.S. operation is solely Max.

How much is approximately the average salary after tax for a first officer?

FlipFlapFlop 9th March 2017 13:18

uchy. Been asked many times on several threads. Hundreds of pages. And the answer....... never been fully answered. Figures in NOR K on PPJN so no reason to doubt them and following was posted by someone on another thread about a month ago.

"Different tax codes will result in different incomes, however, based on Captain salary with per diem and 60 block hrs it works out £5925 after tax and FO again 60 block hours £3957 after tax for non-married UK tax payer."

Remember you won't be working for Norwegian. You work for Rishworth for 3 years and then OSM. You have no employment relationship with the actual employer as they hide behind agencies.

Reveal1 9th March 2017 14:11

How much is approximately the average salary after tax for a first officer?
Average, according what they said during the roadshow , is 4000 Euros net for FO.

JaxofMarlow 9th March 2017 15:04

Why would any company quote net figures ? net is entirely dependant upon personal circumstances and the tax authority being paid. The only sensible figure to quote is gross.

annakm 9th March 2017 15:04

I can confirm that figure too.

Reveal1 9th March 2017 15:32

JaxofMarlow
is not a big deal...
doesn't matter where are you based, if Riga or London or Spain....and doesn't matter the local taxes...
at the end your montly income +/- some bucks and after been taxed and converted, still approx. the same...around 4000 Euros..
If someone would tell me 3700 euro or 4000 euro, doesn't make any differences to me to take or leave a job !--...is the reality!
Besides...this is black on white what OMS and Norwegian write or use to tell to the Roadshow.!
Anyway not my "problem" as I have other interest and not to enter in Norwegian ----I just thought to give people asking some more knowledge that i gathered during the roadshow.

uchy 9th March 2017 15:40

Thanks a lot

JaxofMarlow 9th March 2017 17:18

I beg to differ Reveal1.
If I am looking at a new job, gross pay (basic, flight pay etc) is what I need to know. The actual figure the company will pay me. To be told you will get approximately £X after tax and social security payments makes me suspicious. There are numerous things that impact your tax code that the company would not be aware of and should not be quoting net figures for an individual. I personally would not go anywhere if they could not tell me precisely what gross figures will be paid and that is the information that has been requested on here many many times and never properly answered.
This, together with your employment status whilst in the first three years with Rishworth - self employed or not ?

Reveal1 9th March 2017 17:37

Agree with you...
gross figures are clear in Norwegian, once you meet them you're going to know everything.

To be told you will get approximately £X after tax and social security payments makes me suspicious
That is entirely dependant of the flight hours and if you worked/chosed , in your days OFF to fly (if I remeber was smthing like 360 euro for FO)..that the sole reason I specified "approx" in the net figures!

If then we speak about taxes this is another story and we need a full day to extrapolate.
Of course in some country you pay more like Italy, and other you pay less like Riga ...but ....if I remember well the law is clear, i will make you the point:
doesn't matter if you pay for example the taxes in Riga and maybe you paying 25% less because then if you are Uk residente, once you come back to UK, you need to pay the difference in your country, if in your country the tax is more, as it is for sure...but many people seems to care less about this matter!

I would recommend getting an account at Latest Pilot Jobs provides the latest aviation vacancies around the world.-Latest Pilot Jobs-Latest Pilot Jobs

Their tests are VERY much like the ones at OSM.

All compass tests I would say is between easy and medium!

Math test

This test has 24 questions and is time limited to 20 min. Time WILL be an issue. Best advice: If you know you cant do the excersise – skip/guess! For some reason all the easy questions will come last.

Tell us about a situation where the captain challenged you?

Tell us about a situation where you took a decision?

Tell us about a situation where you took a bad decision?

Willing to move?

Which base would you like?

Ever not followed SOP?

SIM (was not full motion)
I flew at EKEB (Esbjerg). No B737 callouts since we were not rated. No autothrottle and very little Flight director time (I didnt work). Basic radarvectoring around after T/O. Raw data ILS 2 engine. Engine failure on/after Go Around. No memo items. Just kicked in the rudder and trimmed. After GA we were told to make an holding entry. But we said (im guessing the correct) entry and it became a full procedure.

Single engine approach (I did ILS as I recall, but expect non-prec) with landing.

The sim is VERY straight foward. However, it takes alot of time trying to fly the airplane.

Other colleagues have done the same, but with ENZV (Stavanger).

No airwork. CRM is the most important here!!!

No one is showing up for the assessments in Miami. Idiots still think there is a glut of pilots out there.

samca 6th April 2017 11:32

Jajajaja it is not the only LOCOs in Europe in same situation. Lot of flights delayed and the summer it doesn't start even...

JetpoweredMigrantWkr 6th April 2017 16:10

So, do you think they may be forced to cut back their proposed flight schedule, or perhaps pay more to get more applicants?

samca 7th April 2017 07:23

I think so, yes, no way

JetpoweredMigrantWkr 7th April 2017 21:41

So cancelling flights it is....That ain't gonna be good for their reputation.

My guess is the whole offering of positions in US is smokescreen. They know they will get very few takers for the pathetic T and C, but Norweign can say they tried to offer jobs to Yanks if government pressure ramps up. A yank who takes the OSM offer is either uninformed or unhireable for a better position.

Edinburgh, Rome and Riga they offer me until June. For the moment I say no. They say June there will be again bases. If they give me Spain I go for the interview if not stay in Ryan.

aircowboy 20th April 2017 10:03

They are lying to you. They cannot offer you any bases in June as the basebidding results are shown in August

samca 20th April 2017 12:02

Then I stay where I am

aircowboy 20th April 2017 15:09

I would not leave Ryan to go to Norwegian

aless85 20th April 2017 16:21

Yes they can offer a base in June. The biddings are close by then. Results are given beginning of August but that does not mean they know the results already. For winter in Spain most likely but not 100% sure it would be a base in the Canaries.
Summer in mainland.
All bases are growing so most likely The summer base can become the permanent base if you wish so.

All the people I work with that are ex FR say no way in hell they return there.

Of course is always a personal choice. :)

TimC94 20th April 2017 16:47

Hey,
I have just finished my training and I am now applying for everything I can find.
Does anybody know about any low-timers (~200hrs no TR) that still got invited into Norwegian although they applied for the 1500hr position? I am currently considering it since I don't want to wait for the low-timer position if you can tell me that you know of other low timers that got invited!
Thanks for the information already
Cheers

FlipFlapFlop 20th April 2017 17:17

You cannot seriously be suggesting you claim 1500 hours without actually having done them ? Any other airline would chuck an application with 200 hours when the required minimum is 1500 in the bin and I would guess Norwegian would do the same.

ExDubai 20th April 2017 22:45

Forget it, Norwegian might be desperate, but not that desperate. An MCC and JOC might help you with companies like Wizz etc.
