I have no idea what history "Bondi" has with Norwegian, but having gone through 3 different bases in the company in the past almost 5 years I do believe I have a pretty good grip on how it is to work for them.

It is true that being thrown on an OSM contract was a bit of a let down, and boy have we had our battles with them on an everyday basis for a long time. However, in my humble opinion we are at the moment in a place where things are, for me at least, quite good. The pay needs to improve a bit comparing to our orange counterparts etc, but on a daily basis, I really do not have any other places I want to be right now. You call in sick or fatigued - no problem. You get long term sick - no problem. You mess up something- they listen to you. Training department is on the ball, and constantly trying to iron out potential threats. I could go on and on. We periodically work a lot (not too surprising in an expanding environment tbh) which is constantly being addressed with the union.

I do realize that it is not the well oiled machine that they aspire to be just yet, but having felt the changes first to the worse, then to the better I actually see things in quite a positive light. I know its not a popular stand here on pprune, but there you go. I find that some people always look for the bad stuff and focus on that for an eternity instead of actually taking a step back to look at the big picture of it all.

I think it is important to understand that the personal experiences with a company vary to an almost extreme degree. If you expect a "Scandinavian BA". then stay away. If you expect something like easyjet, you are more likely to be on target.

Oh, and with day off payments and flying into my days off, I am at around 130K this tax year flying from the left seat excluding pension and extras.

JW411 24th January 2018 15:56

Someone close to me has just completed his first year with Norwegian. Before that, he had done 10 years at FR.

He is happy in his new job and actually looks forward to getting his roster!

dirk85 24th January 2018 15:58

Yeah, it's not like FR was setting the bar very high.

Fadecwithnos 16th February 2018 19:13

Hello fellows,

Have any of you been recently approved in the Norwegian assessment?
I would like to deal with the paperwork for the contract from now, because I am moving from another country.
Do you have a list of the documents requested by the company?
(Europe, NTR FO)

Some info for you guys looking at Norwegian:

Just went through the assessment process and it was pretty straight forward just like most people here mention. Although it seems they are changing the recruitment process, since we all went through different "hoops" (between the 8 candidates on that day)

If you get called for the interview expect it to be on short notice.

Interview was very laid back, with no technical questions what so ever (applied as NTR).
Most of the focus on the interview was on the applicants experience in daily operations.
For example: "Tell us about a hard day in your work. What made it hard, what did you do, etc"
They wanted very detailed information if you talked about a specific situation. Basically they wanted you to tell about the flight, from briefing to, take-off, cruise, approach landing and so on. A full story basically.

Sim was pretty basic. Visual circuit (no AP, or FD) followed by a landing.
Then take-off with eng fail, AP and FD avail followed by a non-precision approach.
They want to see good CRM. Even if both of you are totally lost on the 737, they want to see how you solve the situation.
All modes are available on the 737. VNAV, LNAV etc.
But use them with caution. Better to just keep things simple if you are non rated, and especially if one of you are rated, and the other one is not.
I recommend to use simple modes for approach such as, V/S, VORLOC etc..

Results was given quick, within one working day.

For information for those attending the recruitment in the near future:
All bases are now full, and so are all courses.
If you get a positive answer you will be put in the hold pool until further.
At the moment it looks like there will be a long wait, most probably until autumn/winter for the next courses.
Recruiters spoke about LGW base as being most probable, or perhaps some of the bases in Spain.

Speaking about LGW, does any one have any T and C for LGW, or any Spanish base for that matter?

PM would be fine if information is not to be put on public forum (for what ever reason that may be?)

Thanks

Will apretiate any update!

Iver 28th April 2018 15:09

How many pilots ended up joining from Monarch on the 737 fleet? Decent number?

PPRuNe User 402506 28th April 2018 17:37

Screened on March 15th, been notified of pass the day after.
after 20 days I ve been offered EDI/DUB base, even tough I did ask for another one (under crewed as well btw), so far I am negotianing with them.

As far as I understood the roster for 737 transantlic ops is kind of: DUB LGW as DH with ezy or so, then LGW JFK on Y tkt with 787 NAS, then layover there, the day after ground transport to PVD to operate the AC back to DUB/EDI...

NO THANKS

Does anybody know anything about courses coming up soon?

Rikki 21st May 2018 18:13

Hi all. Looking to join DUB base on the B737 MAX as NTR Captain. I'm just wondering if anyone there could PM me with typical take home figures. I have been out of Ireland for a while so not sure how much tax would be deducted etc. Also if it's possible to get an idea of the patterns flown from DUB that would be great. Is it a fixed roster there of 5/4 or 6/4? Flying only MAX routes from Ireland and EDI or also mixed in with European SH on the 737-8?

Appreciate any one that can take the time to send me a PM with a little insight. Thanks in advance.

Papa_Golf 28th May 2018 18:49

Is Providence (KPVD) a pilot base for NAI transatlantic ops? I couldn't find any source other than some few local news outlets in Rhode Island.

Any info or insight is appreciated.

This message only appeared on that website a week ago, seems like they are getting ready for the next recruitment season

EIFFS 27th June 2018 20:48

Crew planning is indeed well underway for next season, growth will be less than this year, the introduction of A321NeoLR will change the dynamic Primera & Vueling pilots will be targeted for sure, assuming it’s still an independent company of course.

Bond

Hi all,

Can someone help me understand if NON TR 737 First Officer have to pay 3 years Bond like in the 787?

im a non TR, “high experience” FO, approved for both 78 and 73, got the call for the 78 last week but was requested to give 40k bank guarantee for 3 years which I cannot obtain.

does the same condition exists for the 73?
i know few FOs that entered this year and didn’t pay or give any guarantee.

Thanks!

the thing is, should I have a bank guarantee (having the money in the bank) for the 3 years? This is what I was asked for, for the 78...

i think you’ll find that an MCC course completion certificate is a pre requisite to apply for any First Officer cadet position. They are asking you to upload your certificate online along with your licence, medical etc.

I believe there’s a Ryanair scheme where you can do an MCC and the 737 type rating.

good luck!

Yeah, I hope so. Same here in Czech airlines and Travel service, you can do MCC during the TR. Norwegian announced in their advertisement that MCC preferrably, not necesarilly, so we will see. Any thoughts how long after finishing the online tests I get a reply if they consider me a suitable person and invite me for an interview?

Any ideas what a sim check consists of for cadets non TR?

lansen 5th July 2018 12:12

The sim check for experienced pilots consists of a short LOFT and an OPC.
So basically your first takeoff will be without failures and you'll have a heart attack in the cabin or something like that and the OPC part is an engine failure with an upcoming non-precision (RNAV/VOR/NDB) approach. Everything will be flown with flight directors and you are free to use the autopilot as much as you like. The only thing that is flown manually is the landing phase.

They know that you haven't flown anything else than a Cessna before, yes. But I guess it wouldn't hurt if you take 2-3 hours in at least a fixed base (preferably a full flight) simulator before the assessment.

Good luck! :ok:

Thats why it’s mandatory to have the MCC, which would have given you 20 hours multi pilot/multi jet experience. The wording is a little confusing on the job advert, but I believe the ‘preferable’ relates to having completed an integrated course rather than it being preferable to have completed an MCC.

Hello gents
I need to get in touch with any Norwegian cpt 787 based in BCN.
Anyone willing to help?
Thanks

So if I understand correctly, the requirements for rated DEC just went from 1000h pic on type to 500h pic on type AND 2000h pic on more than 20 tons. They must have too many candidates...

Norwegian 787 OSM Differences

Hi all
Regarding Norwegian 787, I understand the first 3 years are with rishworth. I hear the OSM contract is better which you move on to but cannot find any info anywhere on what it is - even OSM don’t reply to emails.
Can anyone shed light on pay, pension, roster, days off, flight pay etc.

thanks

Base is given acording to seniority, every six months there is a base bidding.

New joiners are been sent to LGW at the moment, also DUB and EDI.

Spain seems to be difficult to get right now.
