olicana,

Assessment days are being carried out today and tomorrow I believe for mil guys who replied to ads earlier in the year. I would guess they will start on the next batch of recruits once that is complete.

Thank you.

Considering that telephones have been ringing recently it's pretty quiet on here...

Out of interest, I did wonder what the general concensus was out there with the JOC requirement.

I assume that the vast majority of modular peeps do not have one.

Do people think it's worth doing one for an outside chance of an assessment?

It does kind of skew the the chances in favour of the integrated bods. But hey, you pays your money and takes your choice.

@ Northern Highflyer

I am intrigued to learn about a 'Northern based' 757 operator who pays less than Jet2....You say there are worse..name one!

So Jet2 management have finally pulled their heads from their collective a#se then? Well at least as far as Captains are concerned I hear. Magnanimous or Fear?

binsleepen 10th September 2011 10:22

Yeh,

Captains just got a £6000 per annum pay rise to a basic of £75K, FOs will recieve a £2250 pay increase in April '12 (on top of any inflation increase) which will take them to £45K give or take a few hundred quid.

I also hear the latest recruitment took place at Oxford aviation where the candidates had to do the 'compass test' on the computer, as well as the group test and interview.

I was also told that J2 are looking to recruit up to 120 pilots this autumn. All this came from the best friend of the chief pilots under-secretary for caotic affairs dog walker.

All the best to those applying

Your answer is on page 49, pal...

downwind24 10th September 2011 18:48

Correct , apply for the job again and put in your original details. It will then tell you that email address is registered and then input your password and 2 letters of your 'secret' word. You are then in to view , amend and submit your application.

San Expiry 11th September 2011 05:39

So bleedin obvious - not! Thanks.

EK4457 11th September 2011 08:38

Anybody know where the assessments are carried out? I believe it to be OAA but not sure. They also have multiple sites across the UK.

Anybody actually been to the assessments?

Not heared a bean so it's just out of interest really.

StopStart 11th September 2011 08:55

The last assessments were done at OAA as Oxford have a Compass set up already. Jet2 are apparently procuring a number of laptops with the Compass suite on them so that they can set up Assessment Days wherever they need to in future.

Jetjockey145 12th September 2011 23:57

Jet2 have just transferred all/most of their 70% guys to 100%.

Some contractors (I'm one) have been offered 100% jobs to commence at the end of contract on Nov 1st, or can take the Winter off and start 100% next April 1st 2012. Not all contractors will take the 100% offer as many hail from sunnier climbs and want to return closer to home. Other contractors are too used to the tax advantages of working for themselves and will stick to contracting. that still leaves a lot of recruitment for the summer season next year so anyone wanting a job should persevere!

In all fairness to Jet2, they have treated me well. In fact, my roster has been no better or worse than any of the full time guys and girls so that's as fair as it gets. The management pilots have also (in my view) been a very good bunch. The trainers that I have encountered have all been first class and have displayed a common sense approach that is refreshing in aviation.

The Pilots I have worked with have all been friendly, and most report early because they want to get the job done properly, and not because they are forced to do so! The skippers I have flown alongside have all been friendly and knowledgeable, which is far more than can be said for the last airline I worked for.

No airline is perfect. Due to the type of operation and different skill sets / personalities involved this is not surprising. I can say however that I have found jet2 to be a very happy place to work and am happy to be offered a permanent place there.

At the moment they are expanding while others like Baby are contracting. They are taking on new a/c types (800), and have an expanding route structure and bigger plans for next year. Frankly, I see only upside.

Whilst one can argue all day long about the niceties of bonds etc, I can think of no better place for a low houred F/O to get jet experience to a varied list of destinations whilst accompanied by friendly Captains. Like it or not, I think Jet2 have a lot to offer! Just my tuppence worth.

bountyhunter 13th September 2011 09:35

Would it be possible for someone to comment on the roster stability, variety (earlies to lates?) and give an idea of number of days off, whether it be 2, 3 or 4 in a row at a time etc? Any comments, no matter how small are appreciated! Ta!

Sharklet 14th September 2011 07:50

Anyone have any idea what the testing is for cadet or low hours? Where can I find the Compass test to download?

Burger81 14th September 2011 08:12

Low Hours

Sharklet,

Have you been contacted or you looking for info in anticipation of being contacted? (sorry not sure where u can get compass test) Any other low hours been contacted yet? Its all very quiet in here at the minute

Good luck to all.

Sharklet 14th September 2011 08:35

I'm just trying to anticipate my preparation. Any feedback from others? I heard ATPL test, Maths and COMPASS test.

binsleepen 14th September 2011 18:24

All applicants as per post 1023.

WhenI applied online it asked me to make a password which should have "eight characters" in it.

I put snow white and the seven dwarfs and am now finding it difficult to log on.

Any ideas?

speedrestriction 15th September 2011 09:58

Any Jet2 pilots:

I am currently flying for flybe and just shy of the 3000hrs TT and about 500hrs command experience.

1) If I were successful at interview etc and joined as an FO, how many hours would I fly in the RHS before being eligible to apply for command selection? I have a mixture of TP and jet time.

2) Do DECs get hired with min experience?

3) On balance would you consider it wiser to stay put until I have the requirements for DEC?

Artie Fufkin 15th September 2011 16:05

speedrestriction;

I guess it would depend on where those hours came from. According to the Ops Manual, a DEC needs 3,000 hours total, containing 1,000 command hours on a jet / heavy military turboprop (i.e., not the dash)

If you joined as an FO, upgrade occurs after a minimum of 12 months with the company, a satisfactory training record and 3,000 "factorised" hours. EG, every hour that is flown in house counts as 1.1 hour. External hours on type count as 1 hour, external non type jet 0.9, external turboprop 0.75, bugsmasher 0.4 hours.

Depending on base / fleet you could expect between 400 and 700 hours per year once you've joined. (737 flies more than 757, LBA and MAN fly more than other bases.)

drag king 16th September 2011 12:19

that still leaves a lot of recruitment for the summer season next year so anyone wanting a job should persevere!
How would you suggest to put that into practice?

I am one of those in the "Experienced FOs/Low-ish hrs (<20t)/no-rated" and I would LOVE to have a shot, at least to take my chances with the selection process but I haven't heard a word so far. I understand there are loads of mil/exp folks out there and they will be the ones to be looked at first but pestering HR over the phone might do more harm than good, me thinks...:uhoh:

Best luck every1...!

aviator_ 16th September 2011 13:44

binsleepn you mentioned some mil guys taken on but they only a small percentage. Do you know what the percentage of Low Hour'd (270 hrs no type) are going to be taken on ?

binsleepen 16th September 2011 13:52

Guys and girls,

I know it's very frustrating waiting for that email or phone call, I was there last year, but things are moving. The mil guys have had their assessments, but they will be only a small percentage of the total recruits. Telephone interviews are being done with invites to assessment days in Oct.

There are only a couple of guys in HR dealing with thousands of applications and they are working very hard. I would advise giving them a break for a couple of weeks.

binsleepen 16th September 2011 14:26

Aviator,

I think your post went into a time warp as you asked a question on my post before I submitted it.

To answer your question, I believe it will be similar to last year, which was about 20, almost all on the 737. Not very good odds on the 1000s of low houred applications, but a great job if you are one of the lucky ones.

All the best

aviator_ 16th September 2011 16:10

Yeah I agree it confused me to as I read your post , then posted my own yet mine came above yours... oh well it got posted either way. Thanks for the reply

Jet2 and the BMI's are on my hot list of jobs I would like as a first airline job.

Prospin 16th September 2011 16:33

Forget "the BMI's" mate - not good down there at the moment!

Northern Highflyer 17th September 2011 13:40

KUMOOZ

I didn't say there were worse "Northern Based" 757 operators. I said there were worse airlines out there in terms of pay. Coming from a low houred perspective, there aren't any TP outfits out there that would offer anything near what Jet2 will offer the low hour recruits they employ once they are settled on the line and building hours. £42k rising to £45K in 2012 is the figure quoted for an experienced FO, and you don't have to pay for ID, medicals, hotels, etc, a la Ryanair.

Granted it isn't as good as some of the major carriers, especially if you have 1000's of hours under your belt but personally I don't have any desire to go to the South East or the sandpit. Like I said, Jet2 would suit me for many years to come.

nick14 17th September 2011 16:05

Just been to re-register for the 5th time after having my application, lost and deleted or ignored. It is now saying my emails don't match, I tried 2 different emails 3 times each and still nothing.

After all that I will no longer be applying!

The IT is rubbish and it doesn't do the company any favours at all!

downwind24 18th September 2011 10:26

I took the application as the first part of the assessment :E

PPRuNeUser248605 18th September 2011 12:09

I hope it is just an I.T. glitch as I just tried to log in and the system told me I did not have a current application running!!

ConcordeLegacy 19th September 2011 22:18

Application Problem

I had exactly the same problem :ugh: It had wiped half of the information from it also. I resent the application but you have to really feel for the HR department. I imagine they have there work cut out at the moment.

jamieboy 20th September 2011 08:36

Hi I was wondering if somebody could confirm the new basic salary for a Captain and also what flight pay and allowances are per sector. It would be very much appreciated.

Winie Godjam 20th September 2011 08:48

Does anyone know if Jet2 have a minimum JOC hours requirement? I heard some airlines like you to have at least 16 hours of JOC training...

Many thanks.

binsleepen 20th September 2011 09:08

Jamieboy,

You obviously haven't bothered to read much of this thread! See my post 1021 on the LAST PAGE for salery basics. Duty pay and sector pay give anoth 5-7 K for captains depending on base, fleet and workload.

Winie

I was wrong, soz. see reason for editing

All

I understand a new (and better) recruitment system is comming soon. How the migration of information from old to new will go is another question:{

Regards

_ShIfTy_ 20th September 2011 09:19

Jet2 Req a 16 hour JOC :(

EK4457 20th September 2011 09:57

I stand to be corrected but....

There is no CAA/JAR/EASA syllabus or requirement for a JOC. As such there is no CAA exemption letter to speak of. There is for the MCC though.

It is purely an airline requirement. I believe Jet2 do require a minimum of 16 hours JOC sim time. Not great for those who shelled out for a one day course....

flieng 20th September 2011 18:49

JOC

What on earth Is a JOC, or should it be JOKE? is this another Pointless and expensive course thought up by unscrupulous "pilots"?
