I've been offered 737 out of glasgow, starting in Feb.
Are you TR already or ex-mil? Same age bracket but no type/hrs so no joy...:{

adverse-bump 21st October 2011 15:56

if theres anyone starting this monday (24th) could you please PM me...

rich poole 21st October 2011 16:14

... and the same if you're starting on the 7th :)

Jockflyer 21st October 2011 18:31

I'm neither. 5000hr non TR TP Captain.

Turns out I need to go for a sim assessment, which all non TR people have to do. They didn't tell me that on the phone when I was offered it!

New start date is 16 Jan, subject to a satisfactory sim.

punk666 21st October 2011 23:02

Anyone heard from Jet2 for type rated FO's?

captmav 22nd October 2011 08:37

Applied a month ago, 4000hrs, 2500 jet, heard nothing. A colleague applied same day 1000 hrs less experience (total time and jet), same age, he got a call within 24 hrs, interviewed 2 weeks ago..!

Where's the logic.??

MrHorgy 22nd October 2011 20:59

punk/Captmav,

Nope, still waiting as well, 3500 TT with 3000 on 737. Makes me worry because I see lots of people on here talking of assessments and I haven't had a sniff!

VJW 23rd October 2011 07:02

Why is it some people are confused when their mates apply the, "same day 1000 hrs less experience (total time and jet), same age, he got a call within 24 hrs, interviewed 2 weeks ago..!"

Do you ever consider that he too met the minimum hours, and simply completed a better application then you did?

Why when this happens, do people presume that if their mate got an interview, then having more hours then them means you should have got one!

Sorry, but I guess that's not the case!

Its not that I expect my hours to have got me an interview when other people with fewer hours have got interviews, but that with all the tales of Jet2 HR department letting people down by 'losing' their applications or not receiving applications that I start to wonder if anyone read my application. If they had read it and didn't like it wouldn't they say thanks but no thanks?

VJW 23rd October 2011 08:57

Unfortunately I can't offer a reasonable explanation. As with most things aviation recruitment related, there is often no logic, just luck. Perhaps they're too busy to say thanks but no thanks, and they only have time to deal with successful applications. Again, I'm sorry to say, but thinking that they haven't read your application as to a reason why you haven't heard back, is most probably wishful thinking. If it happens to me, I tend to 'get the message!'

I learned yesterday that one lad that got into BA (where I didn't) is the worst, most arrogant pilot we had. Not to mention always in trouble with the law, and yet BA wanted him over me. So good at bull$hitting, even BA couldn't see through it.....way of the world!

Chin up!

drag king 23rd October 2011 10:57

With all due respect...the only "room for improvement" in THAT application COULD (?) be the "Why do you want to work for us?"-section, don't you agree? Once you are a >20t-rated guy with some 1000hrs on type (doesn't have to be a B73...), etc,etc frankly I think that is a very naive question. Everything else, such as putting PIC, on-type, sim-hrs down and getting the right line on the drop-down menu isn't rocket science, is it?

To clear any doubt regarding the IT-snags, when the public concern was at its apex, I emailed the right man. He replied that MY application was received loud & clear and they were working hard to fix the problem. A follow-up call some weeks later confirmed also they would eventually have notified the UNSUCCESSFUL ones. Having not received any "no thanks, but no" reply I would like to think I am still in the limbo but, because I have applied months ago, I'd rather agree with you that I have to "get the message". Shame but...

The good news is the recruitment drive will continue well into 2012, apparently.

Best wishes to the lucky one.

DK

Piloto2011 23rd October 2011 12:53

MM,

Colleague of mine, captain, very competent driver (>1,000h multi) with good CV and social skills had had to hang about three damn long years before he eventually got his first airline interview...

Please understand EVERY operator anywhere in the world is being inundated once word hit the street they are looking. And even without people knowing CVs keep flooding through the mailbox. A numbers game. Appreciate the game. Play the game.

Keep trying! :ok:

jamieboy 23rd October 2011 19:42

Hi I have been invited to attend an interview in November and was wondering if anybody had any information regarding the Compass Testing. Many thanks

Burger81 31st October 2011 11:27

PFO!

Non TR'd Low Houred PFO received this morning.... :{

Good luck to everyone still waiting on something.

Burger81

EK4457 31st October 2011 11:37

Burger81 - did you get called to a selection day or was this the first you heard since applying?

I only ask as I understand that all cadet positions were filled a month or so ago...

EK

Burger81 31st October 2011 11:46

EK4457,

No i hadn't received anything prior to now. I also heard that the cadet positions were filled a month or so ago, but had also heard that there would possibly be more hiring early 2012. Originally I was told by the recruiting captain that there was 16 positions available, but through the graevine heard that only 12 were taken on, leaving the door open for early 2012. My PFO states:

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your application for First Officer (Low Hours) received in our 2011/2012 recruitment season.

Unfortunately, on this occasion, you have not been selected for assessment and we will not be progressing your application further from this point."

I take from this, that even if there is more recruitment early in 2012, I will not be considered for it

Burger81

EK4457 31st October 2011 11:56

Sorry to hear that.

I would certainly have another crack if it reopens in 2012... I can't see anything in the email which precludes you.

Out of interest, did you have a 16 hour JOC?

EK

Burger81 31st October 2011 12:04

Yeah I will cartainly have another go in 2012 if i am given the option to re-apply.
I did the CRM Aviation JOC & MCC. 20hrs MCC 8hrs JOC. I was advised that this was fine last year prior to completing the course, so am obviously a bit  now to find out this probably isn't sufficient. As there is apparently no set syllabus for a JOC, I found it a bit of a waste really as the MCC had already covered most things we did in the extra 8hours.

punk666 31st October 2011 14:11

Burger81

Its a 6 month wait before you can re-apply again. Has any TR FO's heard anything yet?

EK4457 31st October 2011 14:28

Hi Punk,

Where did you get the 6 month wait requirement from?

EK

drag king 31st October 2011 14:34

Where did you get the 6 month wait requirement from?
You get it directly from the horse's mouth when you try to re-apply.

DK

punk666 31st October 2011 17:24

It asks you on the application if you have applied within the past 6 months and if so what was the outcome. I was also told from a colleague who currently works at jet2.

downwind24 1st November 2011 09:33

Quote "Originally I was told by the recruiting captain that there was 16 positions available, but through the graevine heard that only 12 were taken on, leaving the door open for early 2012."

16 have been taken on , TR courses 24th/31st October and 7th November. Now interviewing for experienced nonTR.

Burger81 1st November 2011 09:42

downwind24,

Apologies for my earlier error... it was originally 20 i was told by the recruiting Capt, and seen on here in previous post that 16 had been taken on. I thought this may leave the door open for more recruitment early 2012.

Cheers

downwind24 1st November 2011 10:09

............I hope so too Burger81 :O

bountyhunter 1st November 2011 18:12

Punk666

Nothing heard on the experienced TR front yet.

BH.

LoopGuru 1st November 2011 18:12

All the rumours I'm hearing suggest they have already fulfilled their requirements for experienced non-TR FO's.

Can anyone confirm this?

Loop

shaftsburn 1st November 2011 20:10

Quote "It asks you on the application if you have applied within the past 6 months and if so what was the outcome. I was also told from a colleague who currently works at jet2."

It didn't ask this on the application I completed.

It first states that that you cannot re-apply within 6 months.

It then asked if you've applied before and what the outcome was (no mention of a time period)

Shrimps 1st November 2011 21:53

What if you've never actually had a response? I applied when the vacancies first opened using the online system, received an email to tell me my application had been submitted and haven't heard a thing since then.:*

sps1013 2nd November 2011 20:18

LoopGuru

In response, yes, non tr'd, experienced recruiting has ceased. Not quite sure when it ever started to be honest!!

This is genuine, and accurate, came from recruitment and hr direct. The last course for this group is March 2012 which I was led to believe has been filled.

There was a glimmer if you can call it that, in that in January they may (may) call people to take last minute places but nothing confirmed or proposed.

Hope this helps and to summarise, I got a call last year for interview to which I called back on several occasions but nobody bothered to get back to me. This year, I have 2500 hrs total time, turbo prop and 700 jet but no call.

Good luck to all!!

Shockwave83 2nd November 2011 21:11

Don't suppose this same glimmer about last minute places may also apply to those who are type rated on the 737 300-900 but don't meet the hourly requirements?

After discussing my application with Casey via phone he told me that depsite my rating I had to apply via the low hours, non typed box, however I'm still yet to get a rejection email - probably false hope!

dbriglee 2nd November 2011 23:02

They are interviewing NON Type rated, experienced F/Os at the moment.

A friend of mine just had his last week :)

Bonded for 3 years, no up front costs. Not sure if its 100% or 70%

Shockwave83 2nd November 2011 23:30

Yes I know they are interviewing Non Typed Experienced right now but as I neither fall in one box (Non Typed, Experienced) or the other (Non Typed, Low Hours) or the other (Typed, Experienced) and am still yet to receive a no thanks email I don't know really if there is any chance at all.

punk666 8th November 2011 16:08

Seems like the TR clan are finally getting the call from Jet2.

StopStart 8th November 2011 18:58

Yup, non-TR mostly done, now starting those with TR.

greywind 9th November 2011 08:02

Does anyone know if you can expect a reply from jet 2 regardless? I applied for experienced non TR in July and haven't heard a thing. I rang last month and was told my application was in the system and just hadn't been processed yet but still heard nothing and from what has been said on here they have finished recruitment for that category.

Is that it? Will jet 2 just leave me forever guessing?

Shockwave83 9th November 2011 11:33

Sparksy83

I got an email yesterday informing me that my application has been unsuccessful so maybe you're still in the running?

Low hours, 737 300-900 type rating with 737-400 JOC completed. Although was told to apply via the low hours non type rated category.

G-IZMO 9th November 2011 20:39

Stop Start,

When you say mostly done, do you have anything concrete? Just as I, like a few I know are waiting for 'base transfers and upgrades to be completed', which came from the horses mouth, before we get feedback from the interview day. Do you have someone on the inside to know the non-tr stuff is mostly done?

G-GOLF 10th November 2011 00:29

Sparksy83

I was wondering the same thing, I applied back in August ( Low hours Non TR) and haven't heard anything since the confirmation email.

I checked out the 'recruitment process' section on their careers section and it does state:

'' Once your details have been reviewed, we will let you know if you have been successful or not. ''

Maybe there's hope yet!

greywind 10th November 2011 07:50

Well it appears we I may still hear something. I'm not desperately holding out for jet2 but it would at least be nice to be told if I've not made initial selection.

But I have known companies not bother, I still have a graduate application to Bentley that is pending and that was 6 years ago!
