Wizz UK has become a training outfit for the likes of Jet2 and BA. 40% annual turnover of FOs. I can't work out why, 2 sector days and competitive salaries point to deep culture or rostering issues.

It’s the definition of boom and bust. Such a massive percentage of your pay being variable isn’t healthy, offloads all the employment risk into the employee.

To anyone thinking about joining, look at the pension. You basically don’t get one. Day 1 FO at BA gets about 8 times the amount paid into their pension by their company than a senior training captain at Wizz does… Mental.

It's a great place to cut your teeth, but the Ts & Cs are shocking. You are treated like a contractor regards pay.
It's a pretty good take home, but who wants to fly maxed out all year?
It's not sustainable from our side, but from management side, we are there for maximum productivity - it's ultra LO-CO.
The result is, your quality of life is eroded and if you are sick, you lose a load of cash. Their sickness policy is minimal financial support towards their staff. Pension is poor, no healthcare, but you do get several free tickets per year (limited when you can use them).
Some of the best colleagues in the business though.

I wholeheartedly agree having worked for one of their European outfits. Off sick for a 6-on block and not only lost out on the flight pay which makes up 60% of takehome, but even had deductions from basic salary for each day missed.

On balance, flight crew are rewarded well when working, 5k SFO and 10k CPT eur net monthly in cheap places like Romania awards a very high living standard compared to high-tax, high-rent UK.

I recently applied for the cadet job for Wizzair Hungary. Does anyone know how long it takes before they will respond?

Talk about “ cutting your teeth “ but these places that treat people badly eventually emulated by supposedly better gigs … then you have nowhere to progress to

Roster Pattern

Can anyone confirm that roster pattern 5/4 or 6/4 works for Wizzair Malta based? I’m most interested in Italy (Rome, Milano)

Yes, 5/4 works in both. MXP will be a longer wait though, FCO should be achievable within a few months after release, sometimes even direct entry.

BarryMG You mean that you first start on flexible roster and then can apply for 5/4?

Still fine for me. My roster is a mess since ever, so any kind of stability is more than welcome

He means that it's unlikely that you will get Italian bases immediately after joining. However everything is possible. You can choose roster pattern without waiting

Only relevant if you’re going to retire to Romania. What percentage of Wizz Air Pilots does that actually apply to? You can kick that can as far down the road as you like if you want to bury your head in the sand but sooner or later the cold reality that your retirement funds are going to be woefully inadequate for Western Europe (where most people want to be) will slap you hard in the face.

Wizz Air is a job for Eastern European locals and those looking to get their rating and hours done as quickly as possible before getting out again. Always has been always will be whilst the current management are willing to accept such horrendous attrition.

In Italy that's way less. 3,5k for SFO and 7k for CPT. But they are adamant their package is competitive.

Stability is the most inappropriate word I would use for Wizz. Instability i would agree with.
