Hi Siljo,

Thank you very much for your highly detailed description of the DLR. It helps us a lot !

Just one more question regarding KRN. Like minimumunstick, I am not really sure to have fully understood what you mean by:
"Examples: visual:4,3*60,63/3+63"
Is there really decimal numbers in the test ? What does your example really mean ?

With regard to VMC, you confirmed us that the shapes are not the same as in the cbt. Do you remember what kind of shape and colours we will encounter ?

Thanks a lot. Prepare yourself as much as you can for the forthcoming sim assessment !

Cheers

Yep that's correct FasterStronger!

Once you fail no more Lufty!

That's very sad but it's the bitter truth!

And it's a large growing group, full of opportunities! By reading other posts it seems it will create a lot of jobs. Good luck for who's applying though!

So the DLR is only valid for 2 years?

That's kinda unfair, if you fail you can never repeat it, but if you first pass you would still have to repeat it after 2 years if you were to apply to another company that uses DLR testing?

I thought if you passed and you applied for another company who uses DLR they could go back in the system and approve your previous scores as a pass.

Is anybody going for the last stage of the recruitment process in the 10 and 11 February?

Concerning some posts I have read...I think that having 200 or 2000 hours of flying for them is pretty much the same...maybe it's even worst if you are an experienced pilot, because perhaps the standards are a litle bit higher...for me I have almost 500 hours, which i think it's not that much and have passed the sim assessment. Why and how???? I have no idea...The girl who went with me had more or less the same experience as me, and failed!!! I didn't have the opportunity to understand why because she left!

For the sim, my advice ( I will not explain how the process works because dirk and other guys already told it) is to be rigorous! try to do it by the book and in the most perfect way you can!! If possible try to do a 737 sim before you go there. The options are Lufthansa itself and RWL in monchengladback. It's a bit expensive...but it worked for me!!!

I wish all the luck for your guys, and if you have any doubt please be my guest!!

minimumunstick,NAVEX320

No this are two separete examples 4,3+60 and 63/3+63 or something like that other examples were 7 to the power of 3and 5 to the power of 4I don't remember anymore.

A few shapes are similiar than in CBT and few are completely different similar to the ones in skytest.Colours are the same.

Can someone please explain me if there is a difference between B737-300/400/500 in simulator. Is it ok if I practice for example in B737-400 simulator or not since selection is done on 737-300?

Dirk 85 how can we prepare than if their criteria is so high and I don't have any Jet experience at all? You wrote that your navigation was not good what did they mean by that?

Hi Siljo,

Thanks for this clarification !

Regarding your preparation for the sim, as you obviously intend to do it, do not try to go to the assessment without first having practised because jet performances may me really astonishing if you don't have any experience on that kind of aircraft.

Bye...

sim assesment

Hi navex.t

Yes I will do it that is way I am asking if there is a difference between boeing 737 300,400,500 series regarding the simulator. How much hours do you think I would need to be prepared for this assesment considering I don't have any jet and commercial experience at all.

Thank you!

Hi again Siljo,

I am also a low-houred pilot (500 TT) with a Airbus A320 Type Rating. Consequantly, I am now used to the performance of a jet, but will undoubtedly go and fly the 737 prior to go to the sim screening if successful on the first part.

I think that to be accustomed to that kind of aircraft, at least 3 hours should be performed, preferably split into two sessions. It is for sure even better if you may fly a bit more, but by far not a guaranty of your sucess. Ask the instructor to behave the same way that the one at the sim screening and carry out different approaches.

Brush up your IFR procedures and do your best on the D Day. I will try to do the same !

Anyway, the sim assessment will obviously remain a very hard time according to our friends' testimonies.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

First day experiances

Hey to all!

Since everyone has been so great in posting their experiences on day 1 I thought I would do the same for the sake of the people still going for Day-1!

First of all, I do not know if I have passed or failed yet and my post is entirely my opinion and thoughts!! :-) As usual I might have but might have not.. so.. weŽll see.

KRN - shorter time but easier questions. But if you do a mental slip... timeŽs up!

OWT - a bit slower than LVL 3 on the CBT, a difference is that the same number might appear on several instruments.

SKT - like the CBT.. the difference is that there is not a specific amount of runs. Instead there is a time limit (that you do not know how long it is), so do it as quick as you can!

VLR - The little "worm" turns in a blue squared box.. slower than LVL 3 CBT

VMC - well, different figures, my opinion is that it was more difficult than CBT.

ENS - depends on your english knowledge of course. I donŽt think I had any problems with it!

RMS - Pretty much like the CBT, I had a small issue of volume in my headphones, which resulted in that I could be disturbed by someone who made a noice. (more on headphones later..)

ROT - Way slower than LVL3 CBT (remember, my opinion). gradually increasing though. At the slowest speed I almost forgot about the X and started thinking about food and other stuff.. .. haha ..

MIC - Its not like an ordinary flightsim thing. Inputs are slower and not as direct. You get a few practice runs..

As for the headphones the volume could differ from task to task.. On the RMS I could acctually hear my neighbors number being called.. haha.. So if you really annoyed by it make sure you change to another test station!!

ATPL Qs - Same as on this forum! But the Q on focal length for an eye in rest should say focal POINT and not length!

And then there is a CRM, personality questionnaire.. just be honest and truthful!

Must say that I talked to a lot of nice people during the assessment day in Hamburg. Good luck to you all!

And to all with D-day comng, I do wish all of you good luck!

Hi mrbarvid,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us. It really helps a lot to depict how the actual test is !

I will soon share my own experience with you all cause I am invited next Friday, the 28th for this first part.

Cheers

Hi again,

One more question regarding the DLR.

Does the actual RMS test provide any feedback regarding the exactness of the number we dial as this is the case with the training software ?

Thanks,

Bye

No, only during the practice run before the real test.

To all those who already did the first stage, do you get an email from LH, even if you didn't pass the exam?

Thanks.

Lufthansa Italia DLR - 19th of Jan

Yasou Costas!

Were you there on the 19th of January?
I received an email from Miss Geiger on Friday. I know that one person got the email, the same day as I did.

Anyone else who passed on the 19th and scheduled for the sim?
All the best, and perhaps see you soon in Germany again!

Kind regards,

Wanbli

Congratulations on passing!

Would you perhaps mind sharing your average scores on the various tests prior to the exam?

Also, does anyone know if the required passing scores varies from assessment to assessment, or is it the same regardless of which group of applicants is taking the test that day? (For example, do they pass the best among a group or do they have a certain score that always grants a pass?)

Thanks!

To be honest I have no idea about pass rates.
I have heard in the past of people receiving their results after a few days but also after more than a week..

Concerning my average CBT results, my averages were (all at the highest lvl):

ENS: 91
SKT: 97
ROT: 99
VLR: 100
OWT: 98
VMC: 85
KRN: 84
RMS: 34

Good luck to all of you still waiting for your results!
