Just remember guys; If they cant get/attract enough people, or find it too expensive (most likely) to type rate 2 guys instead of 1 to fill a (1) seat, for the right seat on the Q400 and 145, they will start offering people "direct entry" on the 195s... Simple mathematics...and its gonna be really difficult for current employees/BALPA to do anything about it.

Have also heard murmerings that many local BACON pilots up here in EDI have approached EZY, but are only interested if they can have the base of their choice and unfortunately thats not how it works at EZY unless you are a direct entry TRE on type!

And so it goes on, pilots cutting each others throats, always interested first in me me me. And yet, every so often, when you unite and mean it, management roll over. I'm not even talking about being united across the industry, good as that would be, just united within one employer. You all seem to walk around with the drawbridge drawn up behind you. And you could be such a powerful group if you worked together. it really is bizarre that such a highly trained intelligent group keep p@ssing away thier power.

Does anyone know if they would consider someone for a 6 month contract while they get more of the jungle jets and train people up?
Already type endorsed with time on type, E.U. passport, but no JAR yet.

Flybe t&c's
I am looking at moving on from my current position and I am interested in flybe. Can anyone shed any light on lifestyle, t&c’s, roster stability and if there are any night stops?
I have done a search and haven’t found much.

Typical roster 5+2 but with the odd 6+3 or 4+1 thrown in to change the days off.
For t+c, the stuff on ppjn.com is fairly accurate.
Roster stability isn't great. The rostering department are good (on the DH8 fleet anyway), with rosters published a calender month at a time, and normally issued around the 10th of the previous month. The problem is Crewing, who keep making changes on a far too regular basis.
Don't think any of the bases have night stops rostered, but as I mentioned, Crewing are the problem.

Are you sure about this? I am mooting an application to Flybe. However, this policy would cripple us if we didn't get our home base.

You will need to make it clear how important your requested base is!
I think they are becoming a little more human and realistic about these things now. Otherwise people just leave to work for someone else nearer their home base. Best of...

One of those who used to be responsible for basing took an ill-disguised pleasure in messing people around. Same person was also fond of pointing out that boyfriends/girlfriends were an unwanted burden and that partners would soon be gone after you'd joined the company. Once I realised that FlyBE saw pilots as a low-value commodity my loyalty caption extinguished.

There is a lot more flexibility within the basing of new FOs than there used to be, and this will only improve as the fleet continues to expand. However, I would caution you to be realistic with your choices, as SOU and Brum in particular are a popular choice (God only knows why 
), with some of the more remote outposts like Norwich or Belfast easier to get into.
Plan on being at a different base from your preferred choice for at least your first 6 months. Once the first round of bids are done, you may very well get what you wanted. There are a very significant number of people on the move at the moment, and if the BACON deal goes ahead, things will accelerate in that respect.

Dash 8 300 rated F/o, Flybe interested?
Am after some advice here chaps, I'm Dash 8 300 rated and current. With all this turmoil surrounding Flybe and BACON is there a real need for crews at Flybe? I heard that there were Acft on the ground without Crews? Would Flybe consider taking me on?
I hear there are problems with the Roster etc but I really need the money... (Now you all know how desperate I am!)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated (Not too much abuse please?)

Your best bet is to apply & see. There's a lot of uncertainty over the 'merger'; many pilots are leaving from both sides, but there's bound to be some consolidation of routes as well so they probably need some to leave anyway.
My guess is they'll need quite a few pilots once the dust has settled. But if you can get a sensible answer as to what's going on, do tell the rest of us.

I am an engineer at Flybe.Con.
I can confirm that the Dashes are still flying.
A lot of pilots from all fleets are trying to leave the company, many have gone.
if you got taken on flying the Dash I'm sure that you would end up on q400 or a jet within 12mths, looks like there will be a massive crew shortage.
