Flybe pilots heading for industrial action?
Sadly, it seems that the idiotic stance of Flybe's management (apparently headed by a COO who should be revising for his GCSEs) has turned a once-placid and can-do pilot force into a bunch of militants about ready for a punch-up.
Shouldn't think any potential flotation investors will be too chuffed to see this.

It's about time someone stood up and hung these robbing, good will sapping capitalists out to dry! Those at Flybe who've been around long enough to be abused beyond all recognition, flogged to near death and prostituted around the network for a lot less than we're worth, have just about had enough.
Years of ill feeling has just, it seems, bubbled to the surface and there is plenty of determination amongst the ranks to finally let the Fat Cats know we're here and ready for battle.
Let's just hope the CC are prepared for it!

It would be improper to discuss privileged union business in an open forum ... but it is also very unusual to find any Company Council asking its electorate to reject the company's offer (for 'offer', please read 'p*ss-take') whilst simultaneously acknowledging that it is unlikely to achieve anything further without " ... some form of Industrial Action ...".
From what I hear, Flybe's 'management' had better have something imaginative ready to offer, or be ready for a right old punch-up. A punch-up, BTW, that they can only lose.

They can only lose? Don't think so.
It is simply a battle of wills, a contest to see who blinks first. The company knows that if the pilots blink first, they have won the war. They also know that if the pilots blink, there is unlikely to be another uprising for a very long time. Most growing companies know that at some point in their growth, they will have a face-off with some union or another, winning the encounter is critical to them. Of course, they could take the example of Southwest and not upset the crews in the first place!
The pilots simply have to decide whether they have the stomach for the fight, and the consequent knock-on effect to their mortgages. They will never get a massive rise, the most they can hope to do is claw back some of the losses endured in recent years.

I, sicerelly, cannot see FlyBe going on a strike. The CC they had, at least a year ago, were to scared to do anything. To scared to stand up to the company. They constantly agreed o things the membar did not really want but, had to accept because of not haing an alternative.
The guys at FlyBe really need to go on strike and sort things out with the management. It is all a matter of cost. The company say that if there is no cost reductions somewhere else the changes are not viable. Well, give them the cost reduction. In one hand you have the cost of a major strike during bank hollydays or, the cost of placing a proper rostering practice, decent salary,...

Nobody mentioned 'going on strike', that's the very last in a wide ranging repertoire of action available. There's a whole host of possibilities before that becomes necessary.
It's most significant, especially given the comments above, to note that the (generally supine) CC has openly expressed the opinion that nothing else is likely to work, given the company's position.
Don't forget that just at the moment there are meant to be potential investors beating a path to buy the outfit. Any sniff of industrial unrest will have them running a mile.

I would suggest phoning up BALPA HQ and reminding them that you now work for Flybe not your previous employer so can they send you the past couple of newsletters which you do not seem to have received. Also, speak to another BALPA member at your base and ask them to bring in their copy, or for the names of the CC members so you can even phone them up for a chat.

Funny but not hilarious
What I find mildly amusing about this is - I have seen it and heard it all before. Back in 1994/95 the crew rooms of Manx/British Regional were alive with protest and revolution. Most of those who were most pxxsxd off - left, kept their sanity and are wiser for it, most of those who shouted loudest are still there working for BAExpress (or whatever they are presently calling themselves) and the situation is the 'Status Quo' - nothing moved nothing changed. We pilots are are own worst enemies because we would fly for nothing because that is what we like to do - nobody becomes a pilot to make money - there is none to be made - become a lawyer and buy your own Citation if you want to make money! The bean counters know this and operate on the divide and rule principal - so it was ever thus and I am sure will ever be!

The CC have to be strong on this one and they Must get 100% backing from all thier pilots;ie.no one must be sitting in the woods!!
Having had a brief appearance on the open channel i sensed a naivety from the people at the top and a lot of ass shifting when truths where always mentioned,someone is making money somewhere at the sufference of others and its time to show them that this abuse is intolerable!
I hope the CC has strength and its not about striking to prove a point its about justice and fairness of the good will of the Flybe crew,GOOD LUCK

With Floatation looming on the Horizon, any potential investor will be running for the Hills. It will cost the company a small fortune in Wet Leasing or Flight Cancellations. Not to mention the Mass Exodus of Pilots over the last year 18 months. Re-Training costs must be Sky High!
It looks like that the New Management have inherited MW's and JC's Draconian ways
