witchway - your post spoke volumes

It seems that you do not have to be an accountant to be in the aviation business...

bye guys

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say goodbye to all the guys I have worked with in European over the last year.I'm an F/O and have enjoyed working with everyone in the company.I recognise a few names here but not all, noticed you Mel take care of yourself I'll give you a shout if I ever down south we can get a couple of beers in.

This company truely has some of the most professional people I have ever worked with and I hope to fly with many of you again. It is a crying shame that such professionalism and loyalty has been rewarded with nothing short of one hell of a kick in the teeth.Totally due to the incompetance and mis-management of a few people. My advice in closing (for what its worth) is that these people should think very carefully before undertaking such a senior position in any company again, as it has resulted in the careers and livelhood of 560 individuals being jeopardised, loyal and trustworthy ones at that.

Just needed to say that. Take care everyone good luck for the future.Next time lets be the birds not the statues.

James

Hmmm,
Some time ago I mentioned that EAC would have a tough road to hoe with the B747...they actually lasted longer than I thought.

To those that said at the time..."you don't know what you're talking about..."

are now finding out that the B747 will eat you for lunch if not filled absolutely to capacity day in and day out, period.

Competent management helps, of course. Seems EAC was left wanting in many areas, not the least of which was proper planning and management skills.

Just skipped to the last page on this, so forgive me if it's already been made known that one 737 is parked at Coventry, and has been for a couple of weeks.
Don't know the reg, blue/white with black tail.

If EAAC is still a going concern with 160 staff still working - which staff are they? Not still the incompetent management that got the airline into this sticky mess......
If it is - then the airline hasn't got a chance. Speaking as someone who has had first hand experience of working with these people at EAAC (for one month only) as the lack of management skills, business acumen and man management was all too apparent even then - and thats four years ago.

My thoughts are with the hard workers that did stay with EAAC and dealt with the mushroom syndrome.......only to come to this.
Good Luck out there you guys.......you deserve it!

Grrr At last a letter!!!!

Well i must say this has to be the most vague redundancy letter i have recieved!!! (and i have had 4).

What the hell is a 'Company Voluntary Arrangement'????

and.. 'The company is no longer in a position to meet your wages and your employment is terminated forthwith'.

also... 'You may have a claim for....' (too bloody right i have a claim !! )

They have given us a form so that we can start the gruelling process of claiming money back, but there is no mention of who the liquidator is??? (information you need to complete the form).

And lastly.. i would like to know why i have to return my form to the company when i am making a claim to the government ?????

(Would have been better to have had 'i am deeply sorry we have F*c"ed up your finances this month!)

Bloody Crooks!

company voluntary arrangement is an agreement with creditors which allows the company to continue trading, it is not being liquidated (yet!)

Liquidator

Brandy - there is no liquidator, as the company is not being liquidated - it is still a going concern.

European are performing a sort of DIY Chapter 11 - where they are cutting all possible costs and renegotiating all contracts, in order to stay afloat.

The only major difference being that actually being in administration also comes with some protection from Creditors - something European currently do not have.

I hope you guys get your money (I didn't when British World went under) soon!

Good luck to you all!

...And it assumes that a majority of the creditors of which crew are one (and whom I understand in the cases of the suppliers I am aware of have still yet to be formally notified of the situation) will agree to the repayment terms of the voluntary administration agreement...if not the company is liquidated...regardless an Administrator is appointed

2 737's are going to have to work very hard to pay off the debts that are believed to be announced...it is a trade off with creditors of getting some money from disposing of the assets or a vague promise of a bit more money over a longer period of time if the company is allowed to continue trading...from an operational point of view lack of credit from suppliers will be a major hurdle to overcome...will Stoddard put money in? at least this would give all some feeling of security and hope to allow the company to trade out of its' debts/troubles...

Very sorry to hear about this.

The knock on effect of this company going under is staggering. I know of at least two other companies that are making big redundancies just on the back of this announcement.

For what it's worth IF you are being made redundant then the MINIMUM you can expect is statutary reduncy pay.

When I last looked it was £250 for every year you had been with the company capped at (I think) £3000.

If the company has gone bust I don't know if this applies, if you are in a trade union they should have a legal help line to sort this out.

Best of luck to all of you.

Just wanted to say how sorry I feel for you folks. I have been through the trauma of AFX going bust (again!) & failing to pay up after going into CVA - good luck - I hope you have better luck than many of us did. Why do we allow the likes of Messr's Stoddart & Bowles get away with it in this country? Incidentally I gather AFX are trying to recruit again - assume their 747 is still rotting on the pan at Stansted? You have been warned.

European Aviation

Euroboy

With any company common sense and tight budgeting is required but this wasn't happening at EAC and nobody in management could see it. They were probably happy taking home their fat pay cheques. To all directors and management who may still be at EAC I SUGGEST YOU CONTACT YOUR LOCAL COLLEGE OR UNI AND GET YOURSELF SOME TRAINING.

To all my colleagues at EAC keep your chins up and get out there and get yourself a job with a company that knows what they are doing. I will miss you all as you are a fantastic bunch and your leaving is EAC's loss.

Unhappy

Nice to see so many good wishes! I've lost better airlines than this one and no doubt will see my ex-colleagues again in another life. A fine bunch of chaps shafted by the lack of management.
The Kazakh 7 will survive. Good luck to all.

I agree with witchway. Senior Management were pants.
I am gutted to think that we'll have a fight to get money out of the swines, but hey that's the way it seems. I will miss a great deal of people and am feeling quite sad to think I may not fly again for a while.

European was loads of fun with great people, but it was never a living for those of us down the back. Althought it's a shock I hope we will all be able to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves down and move on.

In the words of Betty and Mary "Ooh, Captain! It's all bloody ****"
How right they were.

Good luck all
See you soon

Devil Eaac

I was only with the company for a few months but the people there made a huge impression on me with their professionalism and general loyalty to PS in spite of pressures of rumours etc.

The simple fact is that no one seemed to be overseeing the overseer then maybe things would not have gone down the pan.

I'm personally gutted because I will not see, again, the tremendous bunch of individuals who were the backbone of the company. PS you don't know how lucky you were to have such loyalty and dedication from your staff.

I was not quick enough to contact everyone before company mobiles were cut off so you can contact me via this site. It would be great to stay in touch.

Pass me the headache pills - I need em

Hi guys,

well this seems to be our only form to chat to each other on and keep each other abreast of stuff....like filling in that damned form.

I dont look forward to Monday, so far this morning I've been on phone to Jobcentre, Council, Payment protection people and they all say they'll send me a form to complete. So what with the RP1 form we got today, and the other 4 I am about to get to claim for financial assistance of one way or another ....Let alone mention filling out job applications....my head is already pounding...

I guess I cant get any further with stuff now that weekend on its way so guess I may as well put kettle on and feet up...just one more phonecall to make first.....

By the way anyone encountering difficulties getting in BA jobs website? I cant do the online app even though I registered username and password. Maybe it is just me.

I love reading all the nice things about our colleagues on here...we really need a forum/chat room of our own or as someone said earlier a way of setting up our own ex-EAF website for us to keep in contact - any IT minded peeps out there that can help-you know a 'friendsreunited' of our own......suggestions for it's name could be posted here ...I am sure some corkers will surface(keep it clean).

bye for now, good luck all

Boss Raptor: "Will P.S Put money in?

Well on December 31st 2001 European Aviation Air Charter made a loan of £5.5 million to European Formula Racing, i.e the Minardi F1 Racing team (owned by P.S) so that they could come last in every F1 race. It is listed as a debtor to European to the tune of £6.1 million in the last set of accounts that were filed. As no set of accounts were filed for 2003( Due January 31 2004), it is anyones guess if that figure has been repaid or GROWN bigger!

So for those of you who think you are going to get your salary/per dium at the end of this month, listen to all the other guys and gals out there who have the t-shirt .

A good start would be for the accounts to be filed and Minardi to be sold to repay European, or am I now in LaLa land

Question

Would like to add my commiseration to all my old colleagues. It was fun while it lasted; I guess we kinda saw it coming. So moving on… is anyone interested in a low hours 732 FO? Seriously, if anyone out there with any decision making powers reads these things, then there is a supply of dejected but very competent 737 pilots here who need to know if anyone is interested in speaking to us. You can email me direct!! (well it’s cheaper than placing an ad in Flight isn’t it? and as for all those bloody on line application forms....!!!!)
