Noted. It is up to others to reach their own conclusions, but I've already reached mine. This stinks to high heaven.

well its true and a big shame for the time european is over.
We are all getting a letter tommorow about the situation.
To all the people that I had many happy times with good luck and take care and remember other big birds have come out the ashes.

??

Would anyone be au fait with what happens when a company goes belly up, in terms of paying its employees what they are owed in terms of wages?

I am sorry to say that I believe you are just another creditor...there is a pecking order that goes something like taxman, staff, others...but cant swear to that...need some more in depth input

Not sure on this situation at European but beware if you hold staff credit cards like AMEX as the small print says you are personally liable..got caught myself for a considerable sum like this...be prepared

Belly Up!!

I was made redundant 2 yrs ago from Heavy lifts PAX operation and they dissapeared over night!!

I had to sign on and put in a claim to the governmet as there was no money after the company assets were sold!!! It was a very nasty time and i am not looking forward to it again. All i can say is if you have Payment protection for anything, then get onto it ASAP...

On the other hand i was made redundant form BUZZ also and i got a nice little sum, even though i had only been with them for less than a year, it all depends on what the company debts are and if they are keeping staff??? If they are keeping staff and they don't pay me then i see a court battle comming!!!

I have had some great trips at EAAC and i am so sad to see that management could not resolve what could have been a great company........ Good Luck everyone ! i think it is time i hung my ice tongs up !!

To all those who are EAF - just wanted to say that this is a sad day - sadder day when those letters are received and it is stated there in black and white - as during my short time I have found EAF to be a fantastic and professional group of people who I definitely would say it was a pleasure working with. Even pax comments on how professional, friendly and courteous we are in comparison with other operators. Albeit old aircraft, Human Resources are never to be forgotten that they are an unpriceable company asset!

Anyone thought of setting up on our own - a pheonix from the ashes so to speak - I'll sign up for that.

well cant sit about here all day - I have a cv to update

Does this mean all the simulators are going too or is that technically 'a different' company? I know its probably too early to tell but was just wondering.
Always enjoyed watching the 747's scrape out of BOH on long haul trips in bad weather when I used to work there...used to liven up a dull day!
Good Luck to all involved

GUYS,

I am so sorry to hear about the news of EAC...i had friends that worked there and belive me.... the crew is what made eac. without their hard persiatant work and loyalty....well who knows.

I was once in the same situation myself with a sweedish company and i wouldnt wish it upon anyone...its awfull... the airline went down 2 days before pay day...so it was 2mths before any kind of money came in...i got in a mess and it took me 8mths to get me out of it.

I really do hope that other airlines look at this and give the eac guys and girls first priority....not just because they have gone bust...but purely based on the skill and proffessionalism that the crew have.

Good Luck guys and i wish you well.

Take Care

Dear All,

Its a long time since I have posted on PPRuNe but I thought I would just say good luck to everybody that I know at EAAC.

You will all know me as 'Kevin the Gerbil' and probably know that I live in Northern Ireland.

I received a phone call a few hours ago that told me that I too am to be made redundant as of now.

I live out of the main areas that most of the crews live in LGW,MAN,STN and BOH so probably will not see many of you for a long time.

I want to say that its been an absoloute pleasure to work with you all, everyone in the company have been fantastic, it was always a pleasure to go to work and be with you all.

You are all great people and hopefully this glitch in your careers will be only short lived.

If anyone would like to contact me at any time my e-mail is [email protected].

Good luck to all my friends and fellow 'ex' employees of a great outfit, I wish you all the best of luck and much success in the future.

Take care and best wishes,

Kevin the Gerbil

Hello

Just thought that I would put a quick post on here to say like many others have previously said, thankyou to all the crew at european.

I have only been with the company since december and had decided to leave before todays announcement (due to being so quiet), but I have to say that there are some fantastic people who work there and I totally argree, they make the airline what it is, a fun, warm and enjoyable place to work.

Goodluck to you all, I wish you all the best for the furture. Shame such a good thing came to an end like this

Devil EAC, EAAC, E7

Well as an ex-employee of European (I left last summer....), I am sad to see the compnay go the way it is going.
My understanding is the following:

Palmair to continue to op: Stands to reason really, this is Bath Travels "baby" and does very well.

747's - Well watch Pprune, but AAI or EUK will be looking for Flight Crew and Cabin Crew, well I KNOW THEY ARE so get going and apply!!!!

737's - Well Ryanair will be looking and no doubt so will the Orange Company! Again Flight and Cabin Crew get applying!

TCD - went to Excel and therefore Air Atlanta Europe, as european couldn't provide the extra capacity that Travel City wanted (possibly guilty of the own sucess?!). But considering they WERE part of the consortium to buy European, seems very strange...... Over to the Commercial department for answers on that one.

This has always been a "Fickle" industry, EAC started to get things right, but too little too late. I'll stand by anything I've posted about EAC. Lets not get too down hearted.......
But tell that to the the (ex) Chief Exec who's having a triple heart by-pass Op at the mo (and no I'm not joking, he was "booked-in" while ago!). As far as I'm concerned the guy brought into to run the company just over a year ago (The Chief Operating Officer) had NO knowledge of how an airline runs........ and probably still doesn't - at the end of the day he only knows the facts of how too run a buiness, the bottom line and all that......
Some of the senior Flight Crew management have got alot to learn (not about CRM - but that cud do for a start!), but more about how to treat people both those flying and ground crew.

AND I'LL STOP NOW!

Best of Luck to all - and don't let the situation get you down, there will be light at the end of the dark tunnel.

from an Ex Crew Controller who wasn't with the company that long......

Onwards and upwards

To all my pals at EAC just want to say I'll miss you all. This was truly a fantastic introduction to flying commercially and it's a great shame that the rapid expansion and probably other factors I know nothing about have brought about its' downfall.
I'll be busy sending out CV's to other airlines but some how I don't think a 737-200 type rating will hold much sway, even with the 'low costs' who'd expect us to pay for 800 ratings, who know's?

Anyway it was loads of fun, the people are fabulous and the flying was amazing. We might have whined about crewing etc but who doesn't?! When it come's down to it we stayed because of the type of flying we did and the people we did it with and that's what counts. I'll have fond memories and some decent experience and we'll see what the future holds. Thanks again to everyone who I worked with for making it so much fun.

Can't be doing with all sorrow stuff - and before anyone says, yes I have been there and experienced redundancy - pick yourselves up dust yourselves down and get to work. Aviation doesn't wait for the idle!

BTW....Does anyone know whether BA actually received a penny from EAAC for those 747's? Up until a short while ago I heard that BA were still waiting!

Can anyone with a bit of business knowlege please explain what the current operational and financial situation is? "Gone Bust" is not a particularly technical term?

A pertinent question Mr Lewis........ Some really good folk down at EAAC. They worked so hard to bring those 74's on-line, a real shame. I wonder what the real business situation is!

Given the rumour of Mr Stoddart trying to begin a new operation in Oz, would it not fit his aims?

A running down of EAAC to begin a new venture per chance?
