I don't know about the randhem contract.
But, in case of DEFO-as far as I know, app. USD4400 is after tax.
Also they offer furnished house or equivalent money for housing(up to USD1800), Loss of license insurances etc.
good flight

Taxes for Expat Pilots
Hi!
Thanks for your posting. In my contract of Jet Airways they are talking about 4400,- USD gross paid monthly. So if I don't have to pay taxes in India, I would get 4400,- USD monthly on my bank account?
The contract of Jet Airways (screened via Randhem) also provides a fully furnished 2 bedroom apartment, lost of licence insurance and transportation from apartment to the airport and back.
Are you working for Jet Airways in India?
Please keep me informed!
Cheers,
Philipp.

Hello all..
I m starting to get slightly worried with the whole situation. no news regarding contracts, start dates etc...not even, we will contact you soon...
is there anyone out there who is actually going through the scheme? or have they added to the contract " no talking about it on pprune"... is there anyone to tell us what is actually happening and where the hidden costs are?!
Ok... so 5000 euros.. that gives us a TR, flights and accomodation in miami.. so far so good.
Then on arrival back in europe...
- do they pay for the flights to where ever they are sending us?'
- Do they organize accomodation for us... ( i have now found out we have to pay for this ) ..or do we have to sort this out before hand... i mean hotels in europe arent that cheap! Especially when you are on a budget!
- then does this mean we have to pay for taxis to go to work or rent a car?? I doubt it vry much that a european company will provide pilots with transport to and from accomodation . Or are we expected to do the public transport system??
- then once there.. who pays for the flights to india...? I assume it would be jet.. but at the moment, from what i can see .. they ll probably say.. you pay...
- been speaking to others regarding this.. who then pays for the uniform during the line training etc .. i mean.. if its a charter company.. will they give us uniform etc or do we have to buy our own... a la ryanair...
- what about insurance etc... its all very pretty getting a contract from jet, but who covers the european flights ??
there are sure to be more hidden costs... anyone got any more ideas or budgets etc??
Pretzel

You are right! Although Randhem Aviation confirmed my T/R start date on 2nd of July 2007, I don't know what will happen after the time in Miami. Besides I got the Manuals and the CBT but no original contract from Jet Airways.
All I heard at Randhem is that they are planning me make our A/C check at Sterling in Denmark and the line training at Sky Europe. Normally flying without paying anything is not legal...Nevertheless it brings a many of questions with it, like housing, insurrance and transportation during this time. That will be very important for us!!!
Maybe we can achieve something if we work together??? What do you think?

Well, I have just been to randhems website and the faq have changed a bit.
Pretzel is right, we have to pay for our accommodation during line training.
On the other hand we are going to do the line training for Sky Europe.
If we are lucky, we will be based in Poland. You can find accommodation for 13 eu a night. If we team up and share rooms we can save even more.
Its only going to last 1-2 months. Poland is also very cheap when it comes to food.
I personally don't care if I have to sleep in the subway and eat noodles (In need to diet anyway) but I hope that there will not be any more hidden costs.

Well I have been looking for a job for a long time and the reason for that is that I did not want to pay for my own typerating and now when I have been given this oppurtunity I am willing to sacrifice a little bit. Its a take and give game.
Now as I said, If the only hidden expense is to pay for my accommodation during line training I will sacrifice by eating one month noodles I can even pay for my uniform but I draw my line there. If there are more hidden costs I will not be very happy.
You know....life is not a tropical wave

Kleini 604,
Totally agree with you.. maybe they will listen to us if a few of us pose the same question and queries to them... as long as everyone does it and not just say they did it! I dont want to cause problems or anything.. but no even giving food allowance... the guys that train for jet airways as indian pilots get 100 Dollars a day stipend.. why cant we get the same'?
Base training in denmark!! thats not going to be cheap for accomodation or anything... why cant they just send us to virgin nigeria or something!!! i m sure it would save us money and look better on our cv´s
Tropical Wave... I can understand you are union man... but are there any expat pilots unions???.... the jet airways union... want to get rid of all expat pilots by 2010...
Pretzel
ps- Based in Poland.. what happens if we are based in Vienna!? 4 times the expense
pps- jet to bid for Sahara once again.. will this affect the expats'!?

From what I gather it was after taxes, though I could still be wrong
The over-riding factor is one of lifestyle and living in India is not easy for the unaccusotmed and can really be an eye opener for some. However as with so many things in life once you get past the initial shock and settle down then you may even enjoy it. In fact you'll have a ball of a time!

Tax situation
Well, it's an important point but nevertheless it seems to be difficult to find out what's applicable for Jet Airways F/O's screened by Randhem. In the contract of Jet they are talking about that the 4400,- USD are gross paid.
On Randhem's website you can find that we have to pay taxes in India. Maybe they mean current tax situation in India. I don't really know what they mean.
The important question is, do we get 4400 USD gross - 33% taxes which is 2948 USD net, or do we get 4400 USD after tax on our bank account?
Who can give me the final answer?

Randhem are the only ones that can give you the final answer, though they'll only say what it says on the website..... $4400 gross.... which means we have to pay 33% tax out of it....
