I also had a screening at Randhem Aviation in Gothenburg for Jet Airways India. I can start a Type Rating on B373 Classic & NG in May 2006 in Miami. Of course three years are a long time and India is different to west countries but I think it is a good option to get a rating for about 5000 euros bond. If you dont like to work in India due to the country itself you can cancel the contract with Jet Airways after a few months. Of course you dont get back the 5000 euros and the references will not be good but you have the rating and some hours on type, which will be most important...
So I think its a good opportunity... What do you think?

Good proffit for Jet Airways
A rated pilot with 500 hours on type have a salery of $7400.
Non rated $4400.
$7400-$4400=$3000
In three years: $3000*36month gives US $108 000. The rating and line training costs some $40 000.
$68 000 in savings per non rated pilot.
$4400-tax=2950. Is that a good salery? Is a shared living a good western standard? Maybe for a poor student.......
Non rated $4400.

Pay Rates
As Joakim32 pointed out u would be losing $3000 per month if not type rated with 500 hours.
It could even be worth getting on one of those time building programmes to have the 500 prior to joining(only an idea) !!

You might want to check your numbers lads. The 737NG contract for Capts is normally around $8500-8700/month if you have 500 hrs in type as PIC. That is based on 80 hrs. Overtime is anyhwhere from 106-115 hr for a line Capt and more for a TRI/TRE. Housing is $1500-1800 a month.

Gross that is...
Gross numbers aren't very relevant though as it's what ends up in your wallet that counts.
US $7400 gross is equivalent to US $5000 per month net after Indian taxes (essentially 33.6%) are considered. US $4400 comes out to US $3000.
So, a $2000 per month discount applies for low time/non-typed pilots versus F/O's with qualifications and experience.
That's not terribly unreasonable if you ask me, given that the listed minimum requirements:
- Valid JAA CPL (ATP frozen), IR/ME and MCC.
- Minimum of 500 ME Hours or 1000 TT.
- Last flight within the last 3-6 months
- Minimum of 500 ME Hours or 1000 TT.
- Last flight within the last 3-6 months
If it helps any, US$ 3000 is about what an Indian F/O takes home each month, so you're doing just as well as as an Indian pilot with the same or more experience.

bases in europe
Hi everyone
So what about any european basings with jet airways.
I heard something about base FRA or is it just a rumour?
Is it now 777 or 340 or 330 or whatever? Or will these pilots be based in beautiful India ???
If yes is it now 8/2 with 6/1 or is it 6/7off??
sterhase
This thread is quite confusing, b.t.w. has W.B. been fired or not?

Accomdation
For me the accomodation is a big issue! The better accomodation, the longer I stay...as easy as that. If the appartement is crap I won't be long in India.
I don't need ultra modern- high tech accomodation........nor a shoe box.

If you were to have a choice of bases then I would suggest Bangalore, Chennai or New Delhi before I even thought of Mumbai. In most places (other than Mumbai) you should be able to get a nice apt within the allowance given. Mumbai can get expensive, and you can be in a 5 star area, but as soon as you walk out you are surrounded by filth and slum dwellers in many places. Bangalore, Delhi etc have nice areas and you dont have to deal with the above as you would in Mumbai.

Does anyone know when Randhem are going to let us know how we got on in the interview, and what the plan is for those people that have been given placements on their scheme? I was told they would give me an answer last week, but I've heard nothing yet.
