SIA Interview call-ups??

Hi..
Just wondering like the one above, has anyone been called up for SIA 1st phase interview?
I just applied last week.
Did the test half way and my internet went dead..
I didn't manage to complete the test but the workbench there says "job application"..
So I'm wondering if anyone have been called up, just to make sure the system has captured my application...

Dude, im not talking abt the interviews. Im talking about the March intake for OB-lumut. Anyway, you should call the number at the bottom of e SIA careers page to inform them about your situation. They'll figure out a way to get you into the system.

If I am a fresh grad (local uni), how important is having a charater referee in the online application? Who is /are the best persons?

>>University professors? But it is unlikely they will know me well due to the nature of the school system. ie, minimal interaction between students and lecturers
>>NS-related referees?
>>Temp job referee?
>> I understand that friends and family members are not recommended (though they will be the best persons to know about my interests in aviation)

I appreciate any advice and opinion as this is will also be among my first career applications.

Thank You.

lijmes, course 144 just left for Lumut last Friday. I don't think the next course will commence in March. Earliest will be April.

lijmes,

Do not think there is contact you can call at Career page. Unless u are referring to the email address to report technical problem.

You can get their contact when the Talent management team replied.

@ Nazri

Its not essential to have a character reference but it'll be good if you have one. You will have an edge over other candidates no matter how you look at it.

Naturally a good referee will be you ex-employer (provided you didnt get fired from the job) or you lecturer/advisor. Even a good ref from your ex-army officer might help some bit. Well, if you don't do it for the SIA - cadet pilot position, you might wanna prepare it for your future job applications too.

@starburst

Yeah, i know. My interview mate got called up for 144 and skipped me. Got the rest of us pretty worried.

@potatoe

Yeah well, i checked and they only have an email address there. Might wanna try that out mate. If not you might have to wait 6mths for the next application!

Nope. Recruitment will only be reduced to about 120 per year.

Nope, definitely not. Some of us were called up for the coming March 27th intake recently. But its super competitive now cuz of the reduced intake. So make sure you guys prepare very well for your interviews. Remember, interviews are a public presentation of yourself, catering to a niche 'client' (ie the employer). The more you practice, the more you prepare, the better your chances. Best of luck all!

@nardnegoy

Yo dude, call me wen u get back from lumut! Need your help.

Ace the Technical Pilot Interview

not sure if you will ace it after reading but topics in there are good for a start
Quite a few mistakes in this book. Some stuff in it are good though. Use with care. I see winglet_fever has been studying?

CCAs

Hi guys! It's really enriching to learn so much from this forum for cadet wannabes. However, i would like to know if i do not have decorated university grades nor am i very active in CCAs during my school days, do you think it will hurt my chances of being qualified as a cadet even if i have reasonably sound aviation knowledge?

Just apply. If you get, you get. If you don't, you don't. Life goes on.
Don't think about it, just do it.

This question is for current cadet pilots. I would like to know what books or study material you guys use at seletar. I would like to do some self study before my dateline for OBS.

Thanks!

Wow, are you serious?

Their texts are mainly SFC's own notes and the Aviation Theory Centre's series of books. Don't bother buying your own. Just borrow them from your friends that have finished their Tech phase.

IMHO, don't bother to read the texts now. You'll have ample time after you start your course. In the meantime, just use the internet to read up on Basic Gas Turbines, Aircraft systems, and Theory of Flight. This is so your learning curve is not too steep in the Tech phase if you currently have zero knowledge of these subjects. If you already are an aviation enthusiast, these subjects will be a walk in the park anyway.

In the Nav phase, it is very practical and hands on so reading about it isn't going to help very much. Again, this is IMHO. You do what you want.
