hi guys anyone with info regarding SQ future recruitment?cadet pilot and direct entry F/O.....
|

Hi Guys,
About the learjet spotting,it might just be a Gulfstream G550 from the Air Force. |
Lampoon,
Here's something for you to think about. All those airlines you mentioned in you post hire plenty of direct entry single aisle time pilots including SilkAir. Where do you get your info from? |
That explains the very civilian-looking jet flying around TAB...any idea what it does?
I've seen it a couple of times, it can't be to chauffeur the CAF around right? |
The G550 for Singapore Technologies/Aerospace/Pacific Flight Services MAY or MAY NOT not have been delivered yet. If/when it comes it will be utilized as a trainer for the AEW Gulfstreams the SAF is getting to replace the E-2C's.
PFS currently operates a Lerjet 35 and 45 for passenger charter, air ambulance and mil contract (mostly target tow). The 35/45 are overall white with red striping and the ST logo on the vertical tail. C2j |

I've seen that this thread has come a long way since few years ago and therefore has many pilots in here as well as many good advice/recommendations.
Here's my scenario. I'm currently 24 and I am interested to enter SIA as a pilot. My chances of joining rsaf were hindered due to admin problem(i think) i passed all 3 stages but was nv called up. When i called them, they never seem to have an idea where my application went. Sadly, I already ord. Now my question is... when will SIA start recruiting? Ive bookmarked their career pilot appointment in my website. But it always shows that there is no position available. Is there any other way that i can apply from? And i heard from netizens that i shld apply when im 25.5 years of age? is it true? |
Hey evis, there was an article in the Straits Times last Saturday which mentioned the earliest SIA would start cadet recruitment would be mid 2010. I guess this would depend largely on how the economy fares and the demand for air travel.

Hey guyz,

i've just applied through the website but my little cousin who took over the computer accidentally clicked on the tab which states that i no longer wished to be considered for the position. As such, my application was rejected by the system straight away and it forbids me from applying again. anyone have any idea what i can do now? help deeply appreciated. |
@eddiet:
Not sure if emailing them would help... did you try that? |
Hey guys

The answer is no. Unless SIA goes searching in India again. Which won't happen given the economy

try using another email acc to apply.
|
thanks guys for the reply.
the system is apparently pretty smart. i set up a new email acct and tried sending in another application. the system somehow knew it's the same person(perhaps bcuz the full name is still the same in the application) and didn't allow me to apply again. but i've got it settled. :) sent an email and now the status of my application is no longer 'rejected'. the wait begins now...:hmm: |
hi guys, i hav applied for the recruitment
could you drop me a pm too if u receive reply frm SIA? thx all the best everyone:) |
hi guys,
heard from a friend that his friend got notified for interview in feb. anyone else got it? pls pm. if do. thanks. |
Hello!
I'm currently 17 years old (my birthday is in January) and just got into a JC through JAE. I'm female and am very very very interested in becoming a commercial pilot. I'm considering joining SYFC or switching to the Temasek Poly Aviation Management & Services course since they now offer the Aeronautical Option which would allow students to obtain a PPL. The only ambition i've ever had is actually being a Pilot, but i'm afraid that the odds are against me now. I didnt take Physics for my O levels and i'm very very afraid that it'd be a disadvantage for me. |
Hi guys,
I had applied too. still no news yet. pls pm oso . Thanks to eddiet, since, ur friend got an interview. Pls update to us after he had gone thru interview oso.. ty |
Hi all, I have applied for the cadet pilot position too. Sent my application on the 20th of Jan and still waiting for a reply. Please PM too if anyone gets called up! Thanks and good luck guys... :ok:

Hi Quirke,
To address to some of your concerns. I am not sure about the Physics aspect for SPL or PPL. Correct me if I am wrong but for CPL and ATPL I think you will need phyiscs. You may want to look at this URL. Flight Crew Licence http://www.caas.gov.sg/caasWeb/expor...load/sasp1.pdf You can try to join SYFC. If they accept you, well you may go thru their PPL selection. I feel that it is a good channel to learn flying especially at you age. Selection can be tough, but once you made it. You can also choose to fly for military too. The flying experience there can be useful for your future endeavor if you wish to venture into Airlines as a cadet pilot. |
I didnt take Physics for my O levels and i'm very very afraid that it'd be a disadvantage for me. I'm not sure what the requirements are with CAAS in regards to having Physics before you can start training (I trained in Australia and have an Australian license), but the level of physics required to understand the concepts taught in CPL /ATPL theory subjects is at a very basic standard. I wouldn't worry too much about that at this stage. Good luck in pursuing your dream to become a pilot. Where there's a will, there's always a way. PM me if you'd like some advice on career pathways. Mine was non-standard, but I got to where I am by purely persisting with the dream and never giving up. :) |
A friend who applied last week was notified to go for an interview in 3rd week of feb
|
No second chances for late bloomers. :(
|
Hectigol,
Applied a week ago and have not heard anything so far, will there be a notification online if my application has been rejected? As from my knowledge, Don worry as long as your online(SIA career site) status stays in "job application" or watever so. But if shows " rejected", then :\. the best is to try next round again.. but for ur friend, it is very fast response :D.. compare to me & some other applicants. |
Mine shows "job application".
My friend was in YFC and an ex RSAF pilot, cleared first interview previously before recruitment freeze. |
smiling monkey,
Your's was probably one of the more cautiously hopeful message in this thread for a while. quirke, Getting yourself exposed early is never a bad thing. PPL might give you a taste of what flying is like; You can then consider whether taking it to the next level, i.e. professionally, is your cup of tea. In the grand scheme of things, if flying is sufficiently important to you, all these are but test of your conviction. All the best! |
Frd was from YFC and and ex RSAF pilot.
I guess SQ might be calling up those with flying experience or potential first. |
anyone knows what is the number tat will be calling? or would it be a private number? cuz i was in a meeting today, and i cancelled a private call. Anyone know how i may be able to make contact with HR regarding tis issue? or is there another area where i can check to see if I was selected for interview? I wouldnt wanna make a fool of myself incase it wasnt them. PM for details if necessary. (as for those who have been comfirmed for interviews. please let me know if it is really a private call)
thanks for the help in advance. =) |
I received a call from a private number last friday as well, ignored it as I have had experience with nasty PRC scammers calling from private numbers.:eek:
|
I doubt the private number is from SIA, they will email you instead.
|
compiled a list of peeps who hav applied for tis rd of recruitment :)
Hermie sga345 eddiet G.O.S Atym hectigol silencer22 btw, when i relogin to SIA recruitment portal, i realise that some of the information in my profile are not captured and there are more fields that aint requested initially. Should i fill them in and resubmit my application? |
You are right drumx.
Just checked with my friend, he was contacted tru' email. |
drumx, smiling monkey, Jin75, thanks for the replies! :D
I'm taking Lit Econs Geog & H1 Math in JC now. Not really helpful subjects for flying right? ;_; Thats why i was wondering if its better to stay in JC with that combi or just go to poly for the licence. But from what i've read all around, the licence wouldn't make much of a difference unless I self sponsor myself to further upgrade it to CPL & ATPL and then clock all the 1500 hours to apply for FO positions instead of becoming a cadet? So basically, does a PPL up my chances? Would LEGM combi affect my chance of getting a interview by SIA? Drumx, I think SYFC would be really tough to get in for me. My CCA records weren't that awesome because I was in sports and well, there weren't any leadership points for me to get. Smiling Monkey, I think Physics is preferred but not required. But i guess for the SIA cadet thing, they'd probably chuck me out since I dont even have physics D: Jin75, Lol, yup. I'd be in hot soup if I were to take the poly course and realise flying is not my cup of tea :o Seems like SIA is picking interviewees with flying experiences? |
alson_tan86: Added your name to the list :ok:
