For sure, if you get selected, your time at OBS will be physically demanding, there'll be lots of allergens and triggers, so if your asthma comes back, too bad, you're out. Only you will be able to guess your chances of a relapse based on your experiences. |

Interview
Hi Perrierwlime and to all,
Congratulations on hearing that you made it through to the next round of the interview. You must've impressed the interviewers no doubt. I was supposed to go for the interview on the same day as you did (28th February) but I could not make it. Probably will be rescheduled for the next one which I think is mid-March or something like that (TBC). No amount of readings I have done can prepare me for the interview I guess. Just thinking about it makes me have jitters! :D Any tips would be great. And... hope we do get to meet up in the future. ~ Blue skies ~ |
Hello Moccajava,
I don't know what tips I can give you. Anyway I think the pilots are more qualified to talk about giving tips. I am just someone going for second round. reading thru the whole thread sure helps. try to find some books to read too. online sources are also good. It's unfortunate that you couldn't make it that day. I heard anything to disrupt the selection process will cause delay and the delay can be.... any length of time. Try to make it for the next interview. Latest update. >>> There's a first interview on 9th March. |
...
Hi Perrier,
Thanks will do lot more reading then... I've been following the thread and yes the delay can be pretty long... :D The 9th would be super as it's my off day! :D Guess will have to wait... |
hi guys, finally got that long awaited email. got my first interview on the 10th march. one question. i was told to reply the email to confirm my attendance. ive done that already but am i supposed to get a "receipt" or something like that to confirm they have received my confirmation mail?
|
hi kenny008,
great to hear the good news man.....all the best to you and don't forget to share us your experience. Hey kenney, how long do you have to wait until you get called? I am still waiting to be called up....:( anyway all the best bro. cheers. |

About the confirm your attendance thingy, your concern was mine too. But we all know from this forum is that never never disturb the HR people unless really really necessary. My suggestion, which is what I did, is to bring a hardcopy of the email you sent with you on that day. Just as a backup. Anyway mine went smoothly, my pc of paper wasn't needed at all so I think you can rest assured. Nevertheless, an additional piece of paper won't cost you too much effort to bring. Remember to wear to wear a tie. Maybe this piece of advice is uncalled for but someone did not wear a tie. The interviewers wear ties so make sure you do. Get all the papers, original and copies ready. You'll surrender your IC/passport at the pass office so you can't prove your identity thereafter. That's why they asked you to bring your birth cert. So make sure you do. Whatever copies you bring make sure you bring the original. Yes, they'll ask for it. Last but not least, my self formulated golden words for any interviews >> Don't brag, don't beg. Be honest, be truthful. Smile, greet, etc. Standard stuff. All the best :ok: dude. I wonder whether they'll squeeze me and/or you for batch 119 commencing 24th March. |

Just turn up on the scheduled day on time with all the required documents, in particular the report of your visual acuity and colour vision tests. This is important.

Hi flyfriendlyskies,
haha i think you'd get into the interviewer's good books if they ask you for your forum user name! :D as for me... I had to miss out on the 28th interview with Perrier... hence am crossing my fingers, toes, legs, hands, arms and neck waiting for another invite to the 1st interview. although the dress code is kinda obvious, I heard from a friend who went for the interview that somebody DID come in jeans and t-shirt!!! I think if he really made it its either a miracle! Perrier, good luck for today's interview. Do keep us informed. :D ~ Blue skies ~ |
Hello all out there. I got two questions that i need help to be answered. 1) Does anyone know that if having a degenrative disc in your backbone will disqualify you from passing the SIA medical test. I was give a temporary PES C2L2 for six months and due for a medical review, most likely to be reverted back to PES A. 2) Do SIA really look at your PES status in NS as a guide to your medical health? I'm really not sure whether to remind mindef about my review ( They forgotten all about it ). If SIA does not care about your PES status, then I am not going back for a review. Thanks in advance.

In fact, i missed my 1st interview last time and had to call them (plus email) to explain. thankfully, i got another chance, but blew that chance and didn't get thru the 1st round...so here i am again...waiting to go for the 1st round of interview... |
Flyfriendlyskies,
Mine's the am session as well. Seeya there and good luck. :) BTW, care to share with us your previous experience. Thx :) |
Well, to be frank, I cant really recall everything that happened...I only recalled it started badly...the interview was supposed to be at 2:45pm but I guess there were delays in the morning & I ended up being the last guy to go into the room...the 2.5 hour wait certainly didn't help calm my nerves I guess...then when I was inside, I totally screwed up everything...answered their qns but I knew I didnt do well enough...In the end, the email came 2 weeks later thanking me for the time...blah blah blah...regret to inform me I wasn't successful blah blah blah...
My advice is...be honest with yourself & with them too...They are all very experienced at what they do, so no point trying to smoke them... Just be yourself, and try to enjoy the session with them :ok: |

Just wondering. What happens with those visual acuity that are correctable? Does it mean pilots are still to use their lenses/spectacles while flying or is some permanent solution like Lasik being offered?
Never seen any SQ pilots using glasses though... |

Hi ya SQ228,
Heh you just debunked the biggest myth swimming in my head! :D Hehe... :ok: |
Hi, just thought that with many of you going for your interviews soon, you may want to have a look at something I posted quite a long time ago right after my interviews. Some of the info may be outdated already, so pls don't take it all as the gospel truth. Still, I hope the basic info may be of some use. You can find the thread here.
