yourarm 4th Dec 2005 02:27

Wow im really inspired by White Oaks encouragement. He seems like a really wonderful guy who knows his stuff. He seems to be the type who really can inspire us to be the best and to make use of our capabilities to the fullest. Whiteoak I sure hope you become my batch mate. What a wonderful guy...

VAMP 4th Dec 2005 17:09

Hi Longhill,

Dude, sent a PM to you, check it asap...hehe

Thanks

VAMP...

LongHill 5th Dec 2005 02:09

Hi jagr/terryble/Osprey_78,

Congrats to you guys on the offer! May I know when did you go for the medical? Just to get an idea on the waiting period between the medical and reply from SIA.

VAMP,
Sorry for the late reply. PMed you, and a long one too. All the best for your 2nd interview!

LongHill

jagr 5th Dec 2005 07:01

Hi Longhill,
It mostly depends on how long notice you need to quit your current job as well as course availability.

I did my medicals on 23 Sep, ought to have entered 25 Nov OBS but due to some miscommunications about my notice period, I ended up with the 6 Jan OBS. One of the fellas who did medicals with me started his OBS on 13 Oct as he was unemployed at that point in time.

LongHill 5th Dec 2005 07:29

Hi jagr,

Thanks for the info! Congrats on making it as cadet pilot! Bet most of us are looking at you with envy :D

Good luck for the OBS and the subsequent challenges ahead! Do give some tips on surviving OBS after you've gone thru it. ;)

sgrookie 5th Dec 2005 09:33

Hi,

I'm currently waiting for confirmation from SIA as well. Apparently, my batch went for the medicals on 11 Nov, out of 5, 3 of them have got the confirmation already! Contract should be on its way to them now. They're starting on the 6 Jan too... Except for another unlucky guy & me... Hope that the wait wouldn't be long...

LongHill, are you waiting for the confirmation like myself too?

DsboA 5th Dec 2005 16:14

heya sgrookie haha " the other unlucky guy" talking bout me???haha anyway lets just suck our thumbs for the next few days...

Perhaps we have to wait till the "magic" age of 25 1/2???

Thinking of calling the HR dept once the others get their contract to see if they can shed light on our situation...

asdfg 6th Dec 2005 01:49

Guys,

This is my first post here. I confirm i just had an email to join the January 6th batch. BTW I am from Malaysia. See you guys there.

sgrookie 6th Dec 2005 08:35

Dsboa: You're right... Please let me know what they said about it as well... Until then, cheers! Where did you hear about the magic age anyway?

kennteh 7th Dec 2005 03:53

The wait is long...

Hi guys,

Kenn here... Its good entering this forum, I don't feel alone in this long, stretching wait!!!

I've done my medical a week ago and still waiting... Heard from Edward (admin officer) there during my second interview that the course in Jan 6 might not start if they dun get enough ppl...

Not sure how true is that, but nothing is concrete until you sign the contract...

Was hoping to get into the Lumut course... sounds like more fun than ubin...

KT

Hi,

Btw, for those who have gotten replies, may i know how they actually reply to you? Thru email, letter or phone??? So that I would not be at the wrong end of the line waiting... ha!!

KT

willc 7th Dec 2005 15:47

hey dudes, bros, future mates...

First post here. Found out this thread after clearing all the interviews, 1st..2nd. Well, just got an email from SIA, confirmation of clearing my medicals and employment pass.. and fitting in for the Jan 6 batch. asdfg (if i'm not mistaken) and me are from the same interview batch.. 15Nov.

hey kenn, is it true that they'll put the Jan 6 course on hold if there's not enough ppl?

Anyway... looking forward to meet you guys.. jagr, terryble, Osprey_78, asdfg, ban

kennteh 7th Dec 2005 16:45

Hi willc...

Hi Willc,

During our 2nd interview on the 23rd Nov, Edward told us that the Jan course was a request that they never had. He mentioned that its likely there wouldn't be enough ppl to start b'cos those still working would only want to tender their resig. after this work yr, which would then entitle them for their bonus...

But i think otherwise... those which are able to start imm. will be pushed into the Jan course, so from various batches, they are able to select the imm. ones...

This is just my opinion. When did u receive your confirmation and how was it made known to you? Hopefully i'll rx mine by next week...

KT

willc 7th Dec 2005 16:56

hey Ken,

I was inform tru email first to confirm my availability on Jan6 before SIA forward the contract package to our add. It seems like there are 6 of us from this thread confirming on the Jan6 intake. Well hopefully the course won't cancel last moment.....

kennteh 7th Dec 2005 17:08

congrats...

Hey Willc,

Congrats on your acceptance by SQ. My first interview was on the 23 NOv, so i suppose my confirmation will come in next week if everything goes on smoothly...

I hope the Jan course goes on smoothly too... So far there're 6 of u guys in this forum, but there will be many others out there not involved in this forum...

When i saw the list of ppl that came for medical, there was quite a fair bit... at least 20 of them incl. me...

Hope I get into the same course as u guys, keeping mua fingers crossed. Also heard from someone that we won't be the only guys in the OBS, heard that stewardesses etc will be involved too... dun know how true...

But, weren't we given the Lumut OBS form to fill in?? If that's the case, I'm not so sure if Lumut or Ubin will be our start point...

KT

predator79 7th Dec 2005 17:14

kennteh..

FYI, stewardess will not be involved in OBS training. ;)

ban 8th Dec 2005 01:04

Hi guys,
not to worry. From what I know, there are several more that is going for this intake.
For my interview batch, out of 9, 3 of us made it. But now, I am the only one being called up. What about you guys?

kennteh 8th Dec 2005 05:53

batch...?

Hi Ban,

May i know which interview batch you're from? Or rather, when was your medical done? Do you still remember the date...

I was told the reply would be between 2-3 weeks from the medical date... so, i'm just trying to predict when i would rx mine. Hee...

KT

sgrookie 8th Dec 2005 07:30

Just a quick question, are all those people who receive their confirmation letter 26 yrs old & above? Cause I'm quite curious about this...

ban 8th Dec 2005 07:54

Kennteh...

Me and my 2 other buddy did our medical on 28Oct.

Osprey_78 8th Dec 2005 13:55

Intake 6th Jan

Hi all, logically speaking i don't think this 6th Jan will be cancelled. I think there are lotsa' pple out there waiting eagerly to be called up by SIA for this intake. I for one, gave up my bonus (so-called company's biggest payout somemore!) to join the 6th intake. So if they would to cancel the 6th, it would be a double blow for me (idle 1 month and lost bonus ;) )

Another reason is i think this course fits in very nicely. By scheduling it from 6th to 26th, they have avoided the clash with Chinese New Year. This means we will get to enjoy CNY first before shipping out to the 'rig' ;) . (Heard this 6 months in Seletar would be toughest life of a Cadet Pilot)

So take heart! I'm sure there will be many others out there like me who would jump at the chance to join the cohort rather than waiting for some short term gains like bonus. Time is of the essence. The sooner we start, the sooner we get our hands on the Cessnas/Baron/Learjet/777/747/340s!!!!

For Beechcraft , Bombardier , Boeing and airBus!!!! (The quadruple Bs!!)

Limpeh 8th Dec 2005 18:00

Hi guys,

Just to make a slight correction...

At this point in time, when you finish your Cessna / Baron / Learjet, you'll be put onto the B777 fleet, EXCEPT if you signed up for Cargo, and in that case, you'll be on the B744 fleet.

Currently, there is no plan to have a Second Officership for the A345. So, if you're passenger fleet, it'll be the B777, Cargo, B744.

Cheers!

jagr 9th Dec 2005 06:04

Hi all

Welcome all other 117 mates on board. FYI the OBS location is confirmed to be Ubin, those who filled in the Lumut form will have to go back to CAAS medical to get the medical results transferred. Those who have yet to go for medicals I suggest you may want to download the Ubin form from its website and bring it along for your medicals.

Osprey, same like you I gave up my bonus to join the course as well! I don't think anyone is going to give up the chance to join for their bonus instead.

Hey Fliegen,
Wilkommen und freut mich!

jagr 9th Dec 2005 06:35

Wait for your contract to arrive, all the necessary instructions will be in there

Meanwhile start getting fit, I was told at ubin we will run twice a day in incremental distance!!

willc 9th Dec 2005 07:27

Hey bros...limpeh,

Regarding your statement on the fleets and on our employment, just wondering will it be indicated in the contract on which division would we be joining...passenger, freight..etc? Or we'll only find out after completing fly school... anyone any idea?

kennteh 9th Dec 2005 07:28

RUN...!!!?!?

Damn...

I hate running. Well, but if they put my "wings" in front of me fitted to my head hanging from a bamboo pole, I might just start running...

KT

Terryble 9th Dec 2005 08:14

willc : you will know from your contract's letterhead which company u joining, pax or cargo. As for fleet, if pax will by 777. If cargo, then 744.

on_the_right 9th Dec 2005 09:10

guys,

lucky bunch of ppl. just a little thought, does it really matter whether its pax or cargo. ppl out here are dying to just fly any jet after paying for their flying for the past 4-5 years and building up enuf experience before getting a look in ...

from what i gather, 26 is the miniumum age for u guys to be picked .. they shud increase it to maybe 30 .. so that u guys think before u speak .. and dont ask silly questions like which "terminal we'll go through when operating flights" or "stewardesses being involved in the OBS" ..
cheers mate

PS : this is directed to a few of u .. u know who u r

willc 9th Dec 2005 09:22

hey there, on_the_right... you certainly sounded not too pleased with some contents in this thread. Oh well but I'm sure you got your point there.

terryble: thanks for the info though... just a thought cause the terms read differently for pax/cargo. But at the end of day... like what on_the_right said..heck cares.

Terryble 9th Dec 2005 09:26

hi willc, no problem. We are all here to share info and experience. ;)

Thermal Image 9th Dec 2005 09:50

on_the_right

So now you're the expert on when to say what?

Not too long ago you were also an expert on training standards / quality of English in SIA / SFC:

http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthr...0&pagenumber=3

Quite a few people expressed their opinions about what you said, myself included.

But then you went quiet in the face of all that.

Now you surface again for some trolling?

Are the school holidays boring you, little man?

on_the_right 9th Dec 2005 11:40

thermal image ..
i did read ur post ... its kinda ridiculous that u posted ur senseless mind again out on this thread ...
just browse through a few posts (in this thread), read them urself ... and then talk abt any standards to me .. got that !

rloh 9th Dec 2005 14:06

on_the_right:

mate, age is not an indication of virtue. a very good indication is yourself. if being older makes one think more, then why are you here spouting nonsense?

true, granted that working in GA for 3 years for your ATPLs & slogging to accumulate your 1,500 hours is hard work but being offered a cadetship is a once in a lifetime opportunity. anyhow, i find it quite ironic that given that you want to apply for a particular airline & yet you look down on others? Jesus... You're an absolute disgrace to pilots. I wonder what sort of CRM skills do you possess...

kennteh 9th Dec 2005 17:49

u know who u are...

...

Personally, I think this forum is great, it seems most of the users of this forum are helping each other one way or another... its the freedom of words that makes this forum interesting...

but i think whatever whoever says breaks no bones. If you're as mature as you think you are, you probably wouldn't have written those. haha... anyway, we're all sitting on the learning curve, And i don't think you're 30 the moment you're born, right?

Last, don't try to suggest changing the policy if you're not even close to the board of directors!! ".. they shud increase it to maybe 30 .."

You know who you are...

p.s: Humble...

Cheers :)

sorry guys, i tried to resist.

BlueEagle 10th Dec 2005 05:01

OK guys, back to the thread topic please and on_the_right you are coming close to being banned from this forum if you can't offer something constructive, abuse does not count.
