fatchicken: no call yet even for AT test how did you go on the AT test, it seems like you can see the results of each test yourself?
yicheung: 8 misses out of how many? did everyone else get similar results? the 3 tasks together does sound kind of demanding

AT
Si3nna,
I never got called, even though I did the Initial Test almost a month ago. Better luck next time, me thinks!
Everyone else,
One of my friends who did the Aptitude Test remarked that it was actually more difficult to do the individual items, as opposed to the simulataneous exercises. I don't know if anyone else who has done the AT would agree; but his viewpoint came because he was doing everything at the same time and it left him no room to think about being nervous. Also, as the simulataneous exercises were done near to the end of the AT, because he had already done the exercises individually, he knew what to expect.
And yes, you get your scores instantly afterwards.

yvonne...prob u will receive the call within these 2 days.....n i hv been waiting for 3 weeks.......finger crossed!
personally i found the AT in KA is more difficult than CX....i was so stressed in the mirror section...n nearly misunderstood the instruction of one section...n even u know the score after u didnt know what score is the passing grade though.....i think the most important point is stay relaxed for the whole test....

fatchicken, when did you do the AT? early Feb?
I was doing fine with the mirror section coz I took sometime making my mind clear before clicking on the 'choosing task', I don't think there is an accuracy given from that task right? I don't think I've seen one. What worry me the most were the deviation indicator and the flying the plane tasks...the scores were in the middle of the range only.

yvonne & holdmetight,
Its been a pleasure meeting and speaking to you on this forum. But if we don't get called today, I really doubt our chances. I'm preparing for the worst already.
Think about it, next Wednesday would be the next batch of initial test candidates. The HR really cant have any backlogs here. I know Im being quite negative, also being realistic.
Regards
Si3enna

Everyone,
If KA tells you to expect a telephone call within a week of the test, then you have 7 days in which to expect a call. I gather they like to call people two days and seven days after the Initial Test is held. I have no idea why they don't call everyone in one go; perhaps it has to do with the limited computer resources for the Aptitude Test. So if you didn't get called today, you still have until Wednesday to receive a call. Don't worry.
If it makes anyone feel better, I actually thought about and analysed how the HR select and eliminate candidates in the Initial and Aptitude Tests. I have no idea how much of this is true, and knowing this is not going to boost anyone's chances of passing. But just for interest, here goes.
The selection goes like this:
Initial Test -> Aptitude Test -> 1st Interview
I think after the initial test, they rank candidates according to their performance. The top candidates move onto doing the aptitude test. If these candidates then fail the aptitude test, then the second top candidates from the initial test list will move up to do the aptitude test. This is as opposed to taking a definite number of candidates from the initial tests and rejecting the rest out-right.
So in the end whether we get to do the aptitude test depends on how far up we are on the list. But that can change because more people will be slotted in after they do their initial tests later.
Don't think this is impossible, I know of someone who wasn't called first, and got into the cadet program in the end.
However when the "quotas" for the 1st interview have filled, those who never got called will know they have reached the end of the road.

In that case the first guy who did the aptitude test today scored the highest in the initial test? I could see that working from the initial test onto the aptitude test, however it wouldn't work for the interview. If the aptitude test is sat individually then they can't be ranked until everyone has done it, and i'm sure they'll have to conduct some interviews concurrent with the aptitude test.
Has anyone got a call at all for the interview yet?
Or does anyone know roughly how many candidates attend each stage? The email says 2nd interview in may, do KA give you a book to study for the technical interview?

Hypothesizing
Yvonne,
I think whoever can meet a certain average in the AT will be given the opportunity for an interview. If they have a 1st interview quota of 100 people, then they will take 100 candidates who can pass the threshold for the AT. If a candidate does not meet the required standard in the AT, he/she will not get a 1st interview, and someone from the list of Initial Test candidates will be pulled up to replace him/her. This happens until 100 people pass the AT, then from then on it will be the interviews and group exercise that depends who move onto flight grading.
Each year they take a different number of people at each stage. Around 100 people make it to the 1st interview, 30 make it to the 2nd interview + group exercise, and 15 get to flight grading. KA does not provide you with a book to study for the 2nd (technical) interview; you are expected to find materials on your own initiative.
The KA time schedule is quite flexible. I have a friend who was told to wait for 3 weeks, but only got called after 5. I suppose if you didn't turn in a top-notch performance in the tests, you will then serve as a back-up to other better candidates. It doesn't mean you have been rejected, as you can be called up if those "better candidates" failed to pass the subsequent stage.

I do think that holdmetight as some valid points in the hypothesized selection process. I'm sure they'll get in touch with another batch of candidates early next week for the apt test. I do think that it might be because of the limited resource they have for the apt test since only one person can work on it at any given time. If she said you'll be contacted within a week, give it at least a week.. and then some. You're still in the race as long as they haven't given you any bad news.

Don't worry too much if u don't get the call after a few days doing the IT. It's just probably they don't have a recent schedule to fill you in, as you can see they could only process 3-4 applicants for AT per day (which i dun think they run AT on a daily basis).

Its a pity with so many people doing the initial test and possibly the aptitude test there are only so few people posting here.
I don't think the aptitude to first interview would be done that way. If all it takes is passing the aptitude test to get the first interview then i don't see a reason why people have to wait 3-4 weeks for a reply. They should be able to instantly or at least tell the candidates the next day. That way they would be able to get on with the next stages. Unless everyone thats completed the aptitude test has failed so far...

I am pretty sure it will take longer for local applicants as overseas people will get notified within 2-3 days.
Overseas people might be working in their own country and therefore KA have tighter schedule for them. If they fail, KA will let them know asap and won't keep them wasting time in hk.
Keep it up ppl!

will there be any pilots joining the 1st interview? if so that maybe the reason for us to wait for 3-4 weeks. KA probably won't schedule their busy pilots for the interview until the personnel dept. figure out the number of successful applicants to be invited for the 1st interview..

Well they have scheduled at least parts of the first interview, since we all have an email with the expected dates. If those dates holds true, then it seems they expect to interview just under half of those doing the aptitude test. That would also mean the latest earliest date (if that makes sense to anyone) to hear for the first interview would be on the 3rd, for the 4th Where's my call for the aptitude test, i don't think they work on weekends, 2 more days thinking and thinking...
If KA doesn't give you a book for the technical interview what can one realistically expect? PPL level? CPL level? ATPL level? There would be too much to possibly study without a guideline.

'email with the expected dates'??
do you mean KA specified the dates for the 1st interviews to be held?
as far as i know KA only mentioned the months for different stages to be held...
