hi raj,
I didnt get any intimation as of now. My workbench is locked down, does not allow any modification. The status still shows as Not applied for Any positions. Probably a technical glitch.
Thanks for the concern...

Hi guys,

I just got an email from the SIA recruitment team stating that they have postponed the interview's due to some unforeseeable circumstances and that they will let the shortlisted guys know the new interview dates as soon as they are available....

Now dont ask me for further clarifications because this is all I have for now.

Regards

Its been a long while since i've logged on here. I just felt like spending a nice Sunday to catch up on what are some of the latest developments for the SIA pilots etc.

I'm rather disappointed that things haven't changed much around here, lots of little boys bickering, making noise about little stuff and clash of egos. I wonder seriously if you guys will ever grow up.

Whenever i fly these days and watch u guys walk into the boarding gates, i can't help but wonder the kinda facade that you guys put up with that uniform and cap. Underneath it all is this - and this forum shows clearly what u guys are made of.

Stay true to flying, cause its unlikely u will survive if tasked to do another job in this world. Nobody needs boys unlike SIA, so cherish her well as an employer of choice for you guys.

SQ Cargo cadet situation?

Read from other threads that SQ Cargo is going through a voluntary leave exercise. Are there any cadets that are affected?

Interview

Hi, I received an interview appointment with SIA Singapore recently. Being a 1st round, may i ask for advice on what to look out for?

I understand from previous post that it is a very general interview with no rule of thumbs when it comes to questions. What should I be emphasising on?

Thanks

i gather you have read the previous posts? 64 pages worth of them. Well, most info should be covered there. Perhaps you need info on something specific?

Hi,

Yes I did ran through them. So of the information like interviewers being flight commanders, etc seem to be a bit different from what i heard around. Just out of my googling, I found this forum which proves to provide quite a lot of information.

I would like to see if there are things i should specially take note of, such as interviewer preference, I heard there are some female interviewers, anything i should read up on?

Thanks

dont think interviewer preferences should be of concern. Just a genuine interest in aviation and the airline should get you through the first round. Also, if you have not been working in aviation previously (this shows a great interest), they might ask you questions to confirm that interest you claim to have. so be prepared along those lines. other than that, just a "get to know you better" chat.

@Alwaysthere,

May I know when exactly did you receive the interview invitation? Were you with the Airforce before this? National Service? I'm curious because rumours is rife that SIA has stopped recruiting. You shed light on hope. Thanks.

hi lampoon, I only receive the invitation quite recently.

But i was never with the airforce during my conscription. I'm not sure on the recruitment part but I am genuine interested in aviation, just that I am not a very technical person, holding my fingers crossed I would get selected.

Otherwise, I would be in my 30s and it would be much tougher to give up my current career

@ lampoon,

Hi, if it helps, I went for my first interview on 14 Nov, cleared the final interview-cum-tea party on 10 Dec, and am waiting for the results of the medical tests I underwent on 12 Dec. So my guess is that SIA is still hiring, if it serves as reassurance for anyone out there.

I remember reading about SIA Cargo freezing headcount, but not quite about the whole of SIA cutting back on hiring. Whereabouts did you gather this news?

good to read up

Good to readup, but if dunno answer to questions asked, just say dunno....

Saying B744 operates under ETOPS rules, or saying B777 uses composite materials, will render ur interview failed......

I was just wondering if SIA had resumed interviews in india after they sent an email postponing the interviews till further notice during the terror attacks in mumbai.

Did anyone hear anything from SIA after that?

@Alwaysthere

Alright. So when will your interview be? Show genuine interest in the aviation industry - who are the main players in the industry, SIA fleet info, and if you're from another industry previously, be prepared to be asked 'why switch?'. Good luck.
