ATPLS
Just done with the ATPLS and for all those of you out there who are yet to come into college life.....be prepared....it ain't easy. The 6 months you spend in college is going to be fast...furious and Difficult. Ive never studied so much in my whole life until the ATPLS. Its a lot of hard work but the beauty of it is that you learn something new everyday and its a real mind opener. I never thought I could be this knowledgeble about aviation. The ground instructors here in college are strict but fair and good. The best part about college life are the friends you will make. You suffer together through OBS and you suffer together during you ATPL phase but these will be lasting memories that you will cherish for the rest of your life. For all those of you out there who are still contemplating joining SIngapore Airlines as a cadet pilot..my advice is
GO FOR IT! its the best thing ive done so far....!

So you got your FAA PPL on 19 April, and now you're some kind of airline aviation god?

Friday 21st Arpril - Morning Interview
Hi Guys,
My first post here on this forum.
Just wondering who went to the Friday April 21st morning Interview at STC?
i was first to get interviewed in room 1 and bombed it.
had an aussie pilot with an asian psychologist.
i totally screwed up when they asked me "whats the difference between a 777-200 and 777-300" i was totally stunned and was dumb enough to answer back "ive never seen a 777-300 before and thus i cant tell you the difference"
and i couldnt answer whos the PM of India and NZ..
i flew to Sing just for this interview..and i guess when i loook back on it..i just wasnt as prepared as i should have been.
anyone attend that interview care to share if they got in or got the rejection email like me?
i have to fly back to Perth next week and then do some study and interview technique before i re apply and come back again *sigh*
Cheers,
Aftertwelve

Give this chap a break. He had just suffered a really rough time and no one will know what the interviewer is gonna. Undeniably he should possess some general knowledge about the names of leaders but not knowing everything doesn't reflect upon his maturity. If I ask you who were the ruling party of Tibet, would you know that as well even though it has been a hot issue couple of months back?
I notice you keep asking around about upcoming vacancies and hoping that someone with "plenty of experience and always up to date on these issues " (as indicated by your request/demands) can reply you. My question is; Don't you read the papers then? Or fair enough, did you actually go through this thread? I believe this issue of employment has been asked many many times before. Don't expect to be spoonfed here.
As regards to your first post, you've left a really bad impression on me and I believe some fellow forumers felt the same too.

As far as I know, you can submit anytime as long as you are really sure of what you want. You can go to http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_U.../tech_crew.jsp for more details. It is in fact an all year round event. If you are prepared and sure that it is what you want, you can simply prepare a cover letter, along with your C.V and the application form on the web site and send the application to them. If you meet all the basic requirements as stated, they will call you up. But, since they are processing a rather large pool of applications, you might have to wait for some time before they revert back to you. However, do keep waiting and you will definitely get a chance.
Good Luck

apologies and answering questions you do not know..
apologies to everyone especially to aftertwelve.. there's a misunderstanding there. prolly its the way i said it. i'm just saying that it is a pretty unexpected question and i was in fits. my opinion in that message is that it is not a general question and neither a relevant one. i was thinking the logic of asking such question. now it makes sense to me that it depends on how you dealth with the questions like that (thank you very much to sqboy).
nevertheless i wish to get an opinion on how to answer a question where you don't know the answer. its not spoonfeeding here but its just a general discussion so that everyone will be able to come out with their own conclusion of how to answer questions they do not know. kinda like a group study..
to start off with, here's my way of answering with humble yet confident tone.
"unfortunately i do not have the answer to that, my apologies"
is this good enough for the interviewers. a penny for your thoughts.....

Sometimes, you will be asked gruelling questions like what aftertwelve is getting but sometimes you will be asked general questions about SIA history and fleet. It all depends and also how you dealt with the questions. I understand what aftertwelve is going through and his disappointments since he flew all the way from Perth to Singapore. But, I can definitely see his zeal and passion for it. Aftertwelve, do move on and re-apply again. I am sure you will be able to get through the second time. Perseverance is they key. Wish you all the best.

If it is so difficult to do some research on ONE thread then you will not survive one day in SFC.

Keep this on track, I'll be wielding the scalpel on this one if you can't manage it. Not difficult for people of such obvious intelligence....

The best thing is to ensure that you have met the basic requirements and prepare a proper cover and C.V. Send this together with the application form and wait for replies. Do not keep sending your application. To the HR and Cadet Pilots doing the screening of applications, it may seem like a hassle. Don't worry, if you meet the requirements, they will call you. Be patient and wait for their reply. I waited 3 months to get my first interview. Good Luck.
