Probably because that door is in front of the #2 engine. You do not want anything falling out of that compartment if the Cargo door should open. Just a guess.

I have seen some mayor airlines (i.e. Emirates, Brussels etc.) using the Runway turn around area the opposite way as it is depicted on the runway.

Don't know who trained you guys in radar weather detecting but I founs this verry enlightening. Remember though it is an old paper. But most can be used in todays airplanes..
