I agree with you that alot of morons have come through the student loan scheme however as you have stated you used the sceme yourself to fund your licence. So why knock schools that provide the loans.
Alot of people have used loans for the wrong reasons and I have seen all the reasons you have stated. At the end of the day you can not blame the flight schools for accepting buisness, you should blame the goverment for poor legislation and not having any form of screening process. Either that or blame the twats that signed on to a huge loan for the wrong reasons. They are Ultimately responsable and will have to pay back their loans for the rest of their live's. ONE HARD LESSON

Heliflight has H300's so if you have a problem with YOUR old flight school maybe you should start a thread about them and not put all schools in the same box.

I'll give it a go for you (as far as Australia goes),
Bristow 5 x S76A+, 5 x AS332L
CHC Australia 5 x AS332L / L1
Esso Australia 6 x S76C
Jayrow 2 x S76A, 2 x BK117
As far as I know, that's about the scene as far as current (IFR) offshore machines go, but CHC use B412 and S76 equipment as contracts require. There is a lot of activity in Bass Strait at present and Bristows will have 3 x AS332L's operating out of Essendon shortly.
There are also A109, BK117 and B222 / B430 operators carrying out IFR marine pilot transfers in Queensland.

Agreed Heliflight were a good outfit.
But, How are the Massey/HeliFlt students feeling now that they have to either go down the line to finish their training or train in good a couple of old C models?
And believe me there is not any new (read formyldahide) smell in those things.
How could a company become so dependent on another contractor to provide them with students?
Was it greed like "the company with 4-5 R22s"
Who would want to go to train with a company that is locked in a court battle that could halve their size?
The only thing it does is tarnish there name even more.
Why did a place like Ardmore Helicopters not jump on the loan gravy train when they were probably the best positioned in the country take take hoards of idiots that would sign a 100k loan without a second thought?
Why did North Shore take the Massey contract only to ditch it due to the standard of students Massey provided them with.
Hopefully this will end the Rotary side of full funding.
That will be a bummer for the ag operators that have enjoyed a steady stream of CPL qualified loader drivers over the years.

Flying In New Zealand
I am chasing some advice on getting work in New Zealand after flying in Australia. It is something i have always wanted to do. I am a relitively low hour commercial pilot with around 700 R22 hours and 400 R44 hours. Is there much chance of obtaining work over there or am i better off staying over here in Australia until i gain a bit more experience. I have no turbine time or any other ratings at this stage. Is there much to change over so i can fly over there or is it all pretty straight forward. Thanks
On the work situation you may be be better staying in Oz (a lot of low hour pilots in NZ due to the student loan scheme, and your lack of turbine time could be a problem)

Heliflight NZ/Massey University
Just a bit of advice needed, if you don't mind. Has anyone trained for a CPL(H) at Heliflight or at Massey University, through Heliflight, in New Zealand? If so, which would you opt for?

I think you will find that Massey doesnt offer helicopter training anymore.... its a good thing I assure you!
However Heli-Flight is still training students in Auckland and they are as good a school as you will find in NZ.
