Yeah, that was the first thing I noticed too. Kinda makes me miss the place just a bit less. But as you say, memo came from the top accountant who doesn't believe that history should have a place in that company. After all, the Okie Operating Certificate is not in their hands anymore, likely in a safe place at CHC's HQ or framed proudly in St. John's at the Dobbin family home.
Nice trophy to have.

I got started in this industry too late to be apart of the okie heritage but I try to appreciate what the old boys went through. I've been in enough hangars and worked with enough old timers and read enough from the history books to have a grasp of what the original okie personnel, and those from other companies, overcame to get the job done. They were tougher sob's then me and my generation.

Here's an idea. Maybe the dobbin/chc family could open a museum of sorts to pay tribute to those that have built their empire. The towns, the aircraft and the PEOPLE who made them a success.

Here is one of my most precious possessions, a watercolour painting of two of “My” Farnborough helicopters.

I got it at an Aero jumble at Yeovilton back in 1984. A guy called R Finch who was based at Shoreham-by-sea painted it.

XL728 was the prototype Gnome powered Wessex and it ended its life on Pendine Sands Rocket range.

ZA941 was the last Westland build Puma. It crashed in France killing two RAE engineers, who were on board.

Serious road accident reported. Location not well defined. On border somewhere between 3 regional ambulance control areas and three air ambulances and local police ASU.
Probably reported by many calls from bystanders, passers by, those involved, to any one of all three control rooms.
It's not happened before in this area , in my recollection.

do you stay with the machine at all times at the owners side ? do you base your self any where? or is it not worth it with all the traveling you seem to do

He's at the boss's side 24/7. What you don't see, just out of the shot is Capt H washing the fleet of cars, painting fences, digging the garden and fetching Mrs Boss's shopping from the supermarket!

This is my kinda IFR.
A beautiful night for a flight.
It looks like the newf painted over the old okie bird. I'm sure they made him but it's sad to cover up so much history especially with the boomerang.
bb
Where was that pic taken? Looks really familiar.
Cheers

Outwest,
If you're talking about the night shot from the cockpit then it was at 6,000' enroute Victoria in the cab of a 61.
The shot with the boomerang and the pair of a-stars is from Terrace.
cheers,

The guys at work will get a kick out of that picture, Hotzenplotz... especially the ign'ant ones that say "A can't fly upside down, it will fall out of the sky. A Jet Ranger on the other hand... damn those things are manuverable and would do it in a heartbeat"

Some photos from the Bega fires:

The helipad, 11 helitacks and 3 firebirds: long walk for the last to arrive!

Tim Turner contemplating: beer, wash tailboom. No contest, really

Dave from Wildcat, trying to hit the earth with the Bambi

Another Wildcat 212, outbound for the fireground

Dave, again

Fairly typical NSW water hole: no good not having at least a 100' line!

The helipad
