Q
hello daver_777,
As it is explained, it is due to advancing blade.
when advancing balde pitch increased the Q will be decreased and vice versa
for instance, torq will be 2-3 psi decreased, soon you forward the cyclic to increase speed during high performance take offs. (making cyclic forwarded causes advancing blade flaps down, that is, decreases pitch)
and, advancing blade drag increase is always much bigger than retreating blade drag decrease during cruise. all this stuff is sensed by overspeeed governor. ah-1p pilots know better that q variation.

Just for shere curiosity, what would it cost to fly a privately owned huey.
If you include insurance, maintenance and so on.
Anyone with a clue?
As a yet non pilot, it is my all time favourite!

If you want a detailed breakdown, trying PMing HIHU. He owns and operates one of the UK Hueys.

I am still looking for the report(s) concerning the the response to engine failure of the Huey. They must be in our store room, since our project was finished 4 years ago. I have been doing experimental test on Huey's for the last 11 years and I will not beep the rpm down to less than 6600 N2. The fuel savings is not worth it.
Laggie
Generally speaking, standard UH-1H will cost about $900/hour to operate based on last years fuel prices. This does not include crew costs or insurance. The insurance costs are highly variable because of the amounts and types of coverage. Most operators don't insure the hull. The lease price to customers runs $1500 to $2000 per hour depending on the type of use, insurance requirements, and current fuel prices. Count on fuel flow to be 70 - 85 US gallons/ hour depending on amount of hover time.
All
I am one of the lucky ones. Next week I go to Oklahoma to work with their Narcotics agents for rapel and stabo training, flying a UH-1H. Three periods in the summer I will be flying in support of their marijuana eradicatuion program. Should be about 80 hours.

hi dh30,
Thanks a lot, would you give a reference ( book, video, etc) which explains the relation between rotor rpm- IAS- mast bumping if you know,
thanks again

G-UH1H
You missed her flying south on the 23rd of May heading for Beaulieu and north again the following week. Many air shows have shown an interest but will not confirm until they know if the 'Delta' lady will be displaying. Leaves everyone in limbo.
Just keep checking the web site for future events.

G-UH1H Huey 509 out and about
Weather permitting we're out and about this weekend.
Saturday we're flying to Lytham and landing on the 'Green' by the windmill. Arriving early and staying static until mid afternoon. In support of Lytham Club day.
Sunday flying to Liverpool airport to take part in the event organised for the 75th anniversary.
Not quite low level corridor stuff but as close as we'll get for a while.
If you're around come and say hello.

Blue Monday,
Nice cockpit pic. Are you implying that H1HU is flying around with an extra engine these days?

video footage
We were made up having an escort in to Speke. We wondered if it might have been you flying. We also wondered what your were up to as our GIB kept saying his at 4 o'clock, no he not he's 7, er now I can't see him oh there he is back at 8 and so on. We look forward to seeing the footage, air to air stuff is hard to come by when you've not got a second helicopter.
You were kept busy that day but certainly entertained the crowds with your comings and goings. I didn't get a chance to come across and have a nosey at your machine and all its gizmos. Another time perhaps.
Had great flight down and back, great views across the Liverpool skyline. Good day all round except for the rain at lunchtime though that didn't deter the flip flop, shorts and t shirt brigade
