Seriously, I think people who hasn’t received the PA invite (including myself) by now is most likely going to get rejected ☹️ It’s my first time applying but I really rather them sending out rejections along the way, instead of making people wait until the end 😫

Completed my PA task last night, it’s really not as bad as you think and the timing is quite generous and can be used to your advantage.

I received a rejection email this morning and I’m so disappointed since I wanted this so badly. I thought I did quite well in all 3 tests and I also have a degree but hey, it wasn’t enough I guess. Gotta wait for next year.

Got my rejection too. Do you know if BA releases generic feedback on the tests like TUI? I thought I did well on the tests, so unsure if I went wrong with them or with my CV and motivational answer.

I'm really confused as my test results I'm 99% sure were great. It can only mean my motivational answer and CV weren't appropriate which is so annoying! It's hard to portray how much you want to do something in one paragraph and it seems dumb to me that it's done at this stage. If I were BA I'd want as many going through the AON tests as possible so you get the most cognitively capable and then looking at motivation and interviews properly and in person but that's their system so will try again next time! It's hard to take as it feels like you're being told 'we don't think you want this' but internally, we know what we want we obviously just haven't portrayed that

Then again, it could be something else altogether.

If you don't mind me asking what did the email say. I assumed that they would specify why they decided to reject someone.

Start dates

For those that are successful to make it onto the course, does anyone have an idea of start dates please or what the dates were last year just to get an idea?

I still haven’t heard anything and I finished the checking tests on the 14th. I’m assuming it’s a rejection just wish they would get it over with

Any idea if for the audio recording, do you only have one shot at it or can you re-record?

First course in 2024 cohort was Jan 2025 and they run monthly through to October 2025. Between 10 and 20 SPA students per course (out of a total of 20 students). Q1 2025 starts I think were favoured to those already with Class 1 because its a quick turnaround from offer to start date, particularly if you get deferred.

The AON tests probably cost money per candidate for BA to put people through given how much more in depth they are than Stage 1 and the fact they're involving the schools. Far easier to give a motivational answer which takes under a minute to assess.

It's only fair that the tests are very mixed at this stage. They have been clear from the outset that they don't just want cognitive ability and the short writing exercise given is an easy way to assess that. Read the question over and over again and ask yourself if your response directly answered the question. Best of luck for next time.

Thank you! Sorry, I didn't see this yesterday. I submitted my checking test in the early hours of 5th February (1am or so).

No, I don't believe so. Only feedback I am aware of is if you fail at one of the interview stages. This was the final or penultimate stage last year. Slightly different this year with the changes of course, but I assume the gist will remain the same. No interview = no feedback.

It can imagine it is rather frustrating, because with everybody getting to sit all 3 tests this year, it's almost impossible to know whether it was tests or CV/statement, let alone which test specifically.

I thought that but it must also cost a lot in staffing and time to properly assess 1000s of answers. It still seems a very odd way around for me and think the Aer Lingus way makes more sense. Some people are just better at articulating their responses I suppose. I will learn from it and do more thinking about my response but I did run my response past family after I'd submitted and they all thought it sounded great. That's the difficulty I suppose. Perhaps I'm wrong and my situational judgement was poor. Perhaps there was something on my CV they didn't like. Without feedback, short of changing/trying to improve most everything next time, it almost makes you wonder if you're just not what they want. Won't stop me from trying though. I got to the last 30 for NATS so know I've got the cognitive skills. Just need to obviously work on the rest of it!

Anyway, good luck to all who have progressed and I'll look forward to keeping an eye on what's to come! Sort of jealous I won't be able to do the next round of testing!
