Find a lot of money and go on an integrated course with Oxford Aviation, Training, Cabair and a whole host of other schools.
a degree is advised but not essential? and what course? how would i start with my PPL?
If you wish to do the modular route (i.e. PPL, hour building, ATPL exams, CPL course) then go along to your local flying school and ask about it.
is there a way to get sponsored to pay for the costs? if so who would sponsor me?
No.
after getting a PPL wat else would i need to get?
build your hours to 150, take the ATPL exams, do a CPL course, Multi-crew course, Instrument rating.
which companies/airlines run training courses?
try a serach on Google for Integrated flying schools or Modular flying schools.
which airlines would hire novice pilots/officers?
Not many as far as I know but I'm not a fixed wing person.

You are going to have a spend a lot of time researching this. Do you have the funds? It will run into tens of thousands for the whole qualification.

If not, maybe go to university and get another career which you could fall back on.

Alternatively, consider joining the Armed Forces.

Cheers

Flybe and Air Atlantique run part-sponsorships for PPL holders.

Do a search. Google is a good start.

Hat hair , keep on reading and learning as its gobbledegook to us all at first but soon becomes clearer. Plus its a good way of trying your patience which you'll need alot of whilst job hunting in the future.
Good luck

Your going to be suffering alot from death by acronmys, FTO´s, AME´s and thats before you start training. If its really what interests you and motivates you theres alot of information about that can be found through google and on this forum. Certainly with the costs involved its not something to go into on a whim so take your time, do your research and find out what the best options are for you.

Stop being lazy and search the net there's more than enough info out there, you won't get far with that attitude.

Don't do it - Become an accountant instead - Then buy a share in a nice little plane and fly for fun

If you cannot understand that son, I'd recommend another career. Sorry to sound so blunt..... but really!
You are just being lazy - you need to wipe your own backside in this game.

I think this is the best advice

If you can't figure out how to search for a training school then you've failed the first test. I can see 3 training banners flashing in front of my eyes. If you keep refreshing thi forum you'll see a number of flight schools - You don't even have to use the complicated search facility

I think the cheapest way to get all the needed qualifications is go pack your bag and go to Greece (Egnatia) give them £31k and hope you pass everything first time. You'll be short of 750 hours that can be built up over time and when you reach 1,000 hours (a lot of Multi time in night and bad weather conditions) you might get a sniff, if you can prove in the interview why you're better than the person next to you who has the same hours and maybe a little wiser and complete with life experience and a science degree then you might get the job if you pass the sim test ... then all you need to do if fork out £30,000 to get a licence to fly a 737 / A320

If you go to Uni expect another £15,000 to add to your 'self training investment' but it'll also give you a second chance at life if you should fall short at becoming a Pilot.

My best suggestion is buy a ATPL revision book and read through the whole lot. If you think you can pass the exams then pay the money to the man and see where it takes you ... if all else fails at least you died trying.

Keep reading the threads, some will make you want to slit your wrists and some will give you the confidence to put your parents home at risk in order to pay OAT the £70k+ bill

Either way - Good luck

You pose the question: How do I become a pilot?
My question to you: Why do you want to?
I'd wager 99% of the people with any kind of pilot's license knew the answer to that one long before they started training.
If you don't, start thinking. Better still, take a trial flight sometime.

Want to fly a big jet

Hi... I have allways wanted to be a pilot. I dont really care about small aircraft, just big ones.

Are there any informative websites out there that could help me fulfil my dream?

Regards... TP

Bit Cynical Crew

Try here team

http://www.oxfordaviation.net/

All the best though It might give you a heading in the right direction. I do believe that Oxford are selling the right to get in the right seat 747-400 with BA. Not too sure of the price though? Failing that just hang around in this forum and pick up advice that way. Many similar requests around.

Ps.. why remove the post from Airlines Airports and Routes? It was inspiring and very uplifting...

Bok..

Please be more specific. What is the smallest aircraft you would consider? If we know what aircraft type you wish to start on then we can all start helping you with regards to sorting out your uniform too.

I think Airbus are looking to recruit A380 test pilots on a full sponsorship scheme.

Get your application in quick

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

I can understand peoples sarcasm here - U have to appreciate light aircraft as part of your path to the jets!

If you cant pilot a small single u wont progress......

Yup, but it's a fair enough question. At least he can see that there's a huge difference between pootling about VFR in a Cessna and multicrewing a 737 (assuming that fits TP's 'big jet' category). For many I'm sure the light aircraft bit is just a means to an end.
I'd suggest that Team Pegasus has a look at CTC's Wings Cadet scheme.

Are you sure that you are going to get a C in English?
Sorry someone had to say it but the spelling is awfull, it might be an idea to use a good spell checker.
Your plan looks ok and the height should not be an issue.
How would you plan to pay for the training? are you going to work and save or do you have other plans?
