Instead of asking "WHAT IS THE OPERATOR DOING?!", you should be asking, "How is the operator doing?"
Small businesses are very hard to keep afloat (Especially in Aviation). Even more so when "employees" spend half their time drooling the same bulldust. "Award this! CAO that!". I suggest you tighten your shoe-laces, iron your shirt properly and show some respect. Once you start acting like an adult, the operator might start talking about adult things like "pay" and "working conditions".
Nobody held a gun to their heads, and nobody flinched when they ran away back to the EASY COAST. There are plenty of young lads who are ready to DO THE WORK!
CASA are renowned for going after dodgy operators... Don't you think CASA would have stepped in by now if there was a legitimate concern for safety. It's called "PILOT In Command" not "COMPANY In Command". The AOC in question promotes a fantastic safety culture. This is clear. Unfortunately, it seems some hour-hungry individuals, were happy to cook their books for an extra 0.1 per sector. But drew the line at getting asked to stay after dark to help the team. Company Culture is a TWO WAY STREET!
I don't know what this "proposal" is you are referring too. But I've never been asked by the operator to do anything I wasn't comfortable with. He may seem hard on the outside, but I can assure you, he's just a big teddy bear.

“Award this!” “CAO that!”. Indeed, how ridiculous…the whole notion that pilots have entitlements and responsibilities.

Me thinks it’s not the operator, but definitely someone trying to score some brownie points. Kia Ora, little cub.
Not sure of the proposal? I do believe they still have the ring given by “the operator”….

The company must be saving money for the legal costs by doing the ole intersection departures at YJAB. The videos of you setting yourself up for failure after take-off will make good evidence when something happens to show what the safety culture is really like. The cameras also look great at YJAB, crews arriving at 6am leaving at 8pm with no split duty and bulk nut polishing achieved.
Tell me more about how the pilots should be asking how the operator is doing...
AOC holders aren’t responsible for a lot of things the PIC does in a Part 135 operation.
I suggest that some of the commentators here comprehend the new Part 135 regulations, it isn’t rocket science!
Read the rules, comprehend and stop winging - bit wet behind the ears kids! Grow up children!

I had a quick squiz and reckon there were fewer than 4 in the first half of the 135 regs.

Plenty of young lads who are ready to do the work? If by work you mean accept substandard conditons, a psychotic boss and being pressured to work 14 hours a day, then yes, you are right.
There's a few dodgy operators around that CASA hasn't really done anything about, so it's no real surprise they've also not done anything about you. While it is true the PIC is ultimately responsible a lot of the time, as with any basic human factors (something your operation seems to think doesn't exist *cough* fatigue *cough*) you also have to consider factors such as what pressures the operator is applying to their pilots and how this is influencing their decisions. To say they promote a fantastic safety culture is ridiculous when they encourage pilots to come in well before their first flight and stay well after their last under the guise of teamwork (to the point they're sometimes there 14+ hours with no split shift), it's almost cult like for anyone that sees it from the outside.
Oh yeah he's just such a big kind teddy bear that will make fun of ex employees to current ones. Complain and make fun of employees for taking a week off even though they are legitimately very sick. Start props next to people's heads. Have mental breakdowns and take it out on employees. Attempt to start a relationship with an employee when it was clearly unwanted. The list goes on...

How is the operator doing? Yikes. They are fine, the cycle has already begun again.

Fortunately some of his pilots already have the good sense to know their rights, and what is acceptable and what is not when let loose in an aeroplane, and when walking out is safer than sucking it up.

Notwithstanding that no names have so far been given in this thread, a reasonable person, familiar with the operators in the region, could work out who the operator is; accordingly, certain comments in this thread are bordering on defamatory.
For defamation claims to succeed, allegations or statements must be substantially false.
Soaring Cub's rants look very much like an admission that much of what has been written above did happen or is company policy.
Agreed, but we would not want to give our operator any silly ideas, would we? Better that he reads this , repents and aims to mend his wicked, wicked ways.
This whole thread just reeks of nonsense. Below I quote the thread starter:
As the thread progresses we find that the allegation may relate to either a Airvan or a 210 but the type is unspecified.
I suggest its BS and get the following from a newby called 172Heavy
STFU indeed :-) Tell me, if this event relates to a single engine piston aircraft like a 210 or Airvan, what sort of stuff up lead to the oil being checked while someone sat in a control seat? "His pilot was checking the oil"? Eh, really? Was it a passenger that was sitting in a control seat? Who was actually in command of the aircraft.
I repeat, the whole thread seems to be slander innuendo and BS with a hint of hearsay. Instead of addressing the issue raised in the thread opener this thread seems to have degenerated into a quagmire of rants about pilots quitting en mass for numerous reasons unrelated to oil checking which is a seperate thing entirely. Come on 172Heavy, you know the whole story, do answer my simple questions please. (Relating only to the oil check please)
What happened to the NT operator that tried to start an engine while his pilot was checking the oil? This story went quiet!
I suggest its BS and get the following from a newby called 172Heavy
I'm guessing you work for the said AOC. I know everything mate. Including the events that triggered said incident, so unless you want me to post about the proposal all over here, get back in you box with your few hundred hours and STFU.

What an interesting thread. Just like the old days of PPRuNe a couple of decades ago - out the back of the hangar for a punch up at Noon!
I wonder how many "new users" we will generate that seem to have IP addresses as existing users?
The thread is being very closely watched............. Most entertaining.

Most entertaining.
As far as I can read it, not one single poster has claimed or can do so, to have actually witnessed the alleged incident. Could be wrong though...
Keep posting you blokes! Got plenty of Barossa Valley Mettwurst, Jatz biscuits and a freshly opened bottle of Barossa Shiraz handy! B*&$#r the popcorn!!
