QCPog,

"you are not an employee of the QANTAS group".. If this is so. Then WHY THE HELL DO THEY GET A SENIORITY NUMBER????

Mean while the direct entry guys pass all the Phyc and Skills B.S and sit on the hold file with out getting a seniority number. Whats the difference?

Wake up !

Dlesmond - spot on mate. I find it ridiculous to believe that QF take any money off the Cadets and in fact probably lose money through overheads like travelling every other month to provide performance appraisals to these guys. Also, ever considered who is paying for the pilots to sit in on the recruitment interview ???
As it has been stated several times before - if you want to do the Cadet Program and spend the money then do it - if you want to go elsewhere are train privately then do that - your choice !!!!!!
Stop the whingeing, do some homework on the options, and make your b***dy choice yourself - grow some balls and man up to the decision you have to make.

And for those of you that have spent your dosh and now whinge about not having a cadetship or job - have you removed your hand from your old fella lately, got up from the PC, and listened to the news - theres a economic crisis happening - NO JOBS !!!

Can't wait for the posts when people have to go back again this year for testing and get stung again - again your choice if you want to be involved !

Please please please NO MORE cadet talk??
Thread drift!!! It's turning into an appendage measuring contest amongst you cadets/wannabes... start a new thread if you want to keep it going (qf make money/don't make money blah blah blah)

Please leave this thread for the direct entry's!

There is a thread for cadet talk. Why not post it there. This is where people tune in to find out details about mainline recruitment. Pretty annoying clicking on the thread for the last month only to be faced with the cadet debate. Honestly who cares?

So in that light has any one heard anything?

Emailed recruitment about two weeks ago and was told they were expecting a re-forecast in the next couple of weeks. Just wondering if any one had heard anything else?

Suppose its not looking good though with numbers down across the board

Heard that courses may start running again from September. That would be best case scenario though. The way things are continuing to unwind globally I would put a six month slide factor on that date and assume that nothing is going to realistically happen until the beginning of 2010.

Beaver & Mr Hat, I was thinking the exact same thing!!!!!

Stop the cadet rubbish on a direct entry thread! Its not even helpful information - just complaining!

As for direct entry, mate of mine at qf told me that its looking like there is going to be a hiring freeze until 2010. Hope he is wrong and it all kicks off a little sooner.

Fingers crossed for all.

"Qantas has announced it will axe 500 management positions and up to 1,250 equivalent full-time positions will be affected because of the global financial crisis.

The airline has also downgraded its outlook for its full-year profit before tax from about $500 million to between $100 million and $200 million.

The company will also ground 10 aircraft and try to sell them, and defer aircraft orders, including four Airbus A380s.(and 787's, 738's)" ABC news

She's all over boys. Pack up the practice IQ tests/sim/interview.

The moderators could probably close this thread as it won't be needed anymore!

The lesson: when airlines are hiring apply asap don't put it off for one minute.

It's called a recession boys. Jeez the glass if just half empty. There is lots of us in the process (with letters or not) so get over it. Happened in the 70's (I work with a guy who's dad got sacked from QF then re-hired years later [he was a cadet woops]), happened in the 80's and in the 90's.

Oh and it's happening now.

HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF. Go get your twin/turbine/multi-crew ****e sorted like I am, then you'll be top pickings in the next shortage now won't you.

I'm off to have a glass of harden the fark up, cheers bottoms up ladies

The Oz aviation downturn from '89-94 was quite a significant one. It preceded a run of employment in QF that lasted six years. It would have slowed off during 2001 except that QF were in the right place at the right time (along with DJ) to expand significantly and thus the expansion continued virtually unabated for a few years afterward.

So it may be quiet for a couple of years but it will go again....it always does.

Dr Do little

Word is they'll be dispanded shortly as part of the staff cuts.
Word from whom? Or just speculation.

Do you have information on management decisions yet to be made?

Honestly, how many times has she said that in the last year? 10? 15 maybe? I actually find myself trying not to laugh when she says that now.

Not that I blame recruitment for not having information. I do find it very amusing though that they have this line they keep expecting everyone to take seriously.

Good luck to all when we all have to do testing again.

Has anyone heard from HR lately? Not that it's going to be good news. Seems very quiet!

Latest info to crew from flight ops (via new 6 weekly publication) states "most likely no training slots in the 09-10 financial year", so that would seem to prohibit recruitment until mid 2010, at this stage.
