Whats the go with QF minimum requirements?
According to the website, to apply for direct entry QF mainline one must have a minimum of
"500 hours in command of a powered fixed wing aircraft (excluding ICUS), or"
Isn't this ridiculously low? I haven't seen any other airlines that require only 500 hours as a minimum. Does anyone know if any applicants have ever been successful in gaining employment with this many hours?

I know of some with pretty low hours that got in. Cadets get in with zero hours. There is alot of weight on the psych and skills and not on experience.
Thats their system and it works for them.
Its good for you Damo it means the less experienced guys have just as much chance maybe even more than the experienced guys at getting in.

Hiya all,
Congrats to the guys and gals who have heard back and got on course!
Just a quick two part question, has anyone received a LOI since July, or are all the people being put on courses form the beginning part of the year interviews?
Second, does multi crew turbine hold much weight on competitiveness?
Cheers

What about multi helicopter with less than 500 fixed wing ??
FRQ CB
Great. That sounds a bit like having sex, but not being involved in the first or last 30 seconds.
What good is the middle 10 second period?

Runaway Gun, hee hee, BEST ANALOGY OF THE YEAR!
DirectAnywhere & Dragun, not everyone gets that much! Maybe the senior filth!!
Blade root, there is a helo entry requirement, but I think you still need 250 command FW as well as the RW requirements

I believe there're too many experienced pilots out there exceed the 500 hrs minimum requirement, I just don't understand why would QF take those who just meet the minimum hrs. Does anyone know what's the more realistic min requirement for QF direct entry?

I think you will find that Qantas are looking for the right "profile" not the total number of hours.
Their interviews are behavioral and not so much technical because you only sit in the back seat for the first few years.
Hours matter a little more at DJ because you can start really flying pretty well straight away....
