Merged: QF Recruitment
Here's some info I found very useful, which expounds on the Q website gouge. These things do take practice, but once I did them a few times my brain came out of it's comatose state and rose to it's peak NASA engineer performance....and has now comfortably slid back down to normality
Aptitude Test Examples | Psychometric Assessment | Free Psychometric Test | Personality Tests | Verbal Reasoning
Do the following:
Numerical reasoning
Comprehension
Abstract reasoning
Diagramatic Reasoning
Spatial Abilty (I see they have new cube ones on here!!)
Once you've warmed up and stretched your grey matter, try these ones below (verbal and numerical reasoning) which are timed!! Do the examples followed by the practice ones.....you'll have to enroll as a reseach guineapig, but could win an ipod Make sure you drink lots of electrolytes and warm down to clear the lactic acid from your cranium Just kidding, they're really not that bad, but you'll feel like a 5 year old when you start, but the next few times you try them you'll fly through them.
SHLDirect
Hot tips:
READ the questions.....more haste, less speed.
Don't get bogged down on tricky ones, but don't give up in 3 seconds!
Look at the UNITs on the tables/graphs
The displayed data can play mind tricks when you're rushing (eg: years can be decreasing from L to R instead of increasing etc....subtle stuff....see point #1)......false expectations etc.
Dump all previously known knowledge on the comprehension......"is the sky blue?".....Can't say!
Good luck and bon appetit.
ps: if you can do them all within the given time....call NASA for a job as an astronaut.

Well said TruBlu...
Good point there. Make sure before the comprehension exercises that you 'delete' everything currently stored in your head Answer the question using ONLY the information given

Qantas sim and the panel interview
Guys and Gals...
Can someone pls give me the good guts on the Qantas sim and the panel interview?
Can you pls tell me who does a good 767 sim preparation ride; if you did one; and if it was worth it?
What were the exercises Qantas made you do? What was turned on and off? What was it like to handle? Were the engines 'derated'? Can you give me some insight into light wgt 767 attitudes and performance.
Also I am seeking some info on the interview... Are they still strictly based on personality or are they a moster tech quiz, QF and AIP quiz?
What happened with u?

Don't sweat the sim too much. It's a rather benign sequence just to check your basic IF skills. You have all your instruments and no failures etc, but no AP or FD's etc so basic raw data. No R/T calls etc, just fly.
This is all explained in the sim package which gets sent to you well in advance. It includes the approach plates, table of all the PWR/ATT settings and profile etc.....just a big Cessna You'll probably have a throttle stop to keep it tame.
They briefly swapped over to the Classic recently so if you're lucky, you'll get to learn both sets of numbers But I believe it's getting shut down soon???
If you want to practice on FLTSIM, do the YMML ILS RWY16 and NDB RWY16.
Nothing is ever "strictly based" in an interview and you'd be a brave person to go in assuming you'll get "just" behavioural Q's, even though this is where most or all of the time may be spent. Unfortunatley, the 0-10% of other "possible" Q's doesn't tanslate to a proportional 0-10% of the required preparation to be 100% prepared

Obviously you havent read the title- pprune professional pilots RUMOUR NETWORK. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought that this was a discussion forum for pilots (or anybody with an interest in aviation) to voice ‘bleat’ their opinion/feelings regardless of whether being right or wrong .
“To think that the QF Recruitment team have ANY say in their numbers is ridiculous”. Who has said that? I haven’t read a post yet that insinuates that statement.
One point I agree with you is QF doesnt owe anybody with a LOI anything. I have heard that the recruitment team is extremely busy and doing their best given the circumstances. But try to understand from somebody else’s standpoint to be sitting on a LOI for months without disclosure of what’s happening, not knowing if or when they’ll get the call. It just would be nice to be kept in the loop (maybe wishful thinking).
Any business in this current economic environment, (especially aviation) will definitely have to “cut the fat” out of areas that are wanting. I may not get a rousing applause but I believe Joyce is exactly what QF needs at this time.
Im also a little befuddled at your statement “still battling with high fuel costs”. QF uses something called fuel hedging as a measure to combat predicted future fuel price increases and seeing that current oil prices are as low $94 a barrel (about the same price as this time last year) QF also indicating that they WONT be reducing fuel surcharges anytime soon, I find it hard to believe that this type of “battling” you’re referring to is going to have any real influence on recruitment numbers.
Perhaps you could educate me also as to why “reducing exec heads” will have any affect on numbers. You might want to know that just recently Joyce appointed Lyell Strambi to the NEWLY CREATED POSITION of executive general manager of operations, responsible for QF airlines engineering, pilots, airports and flight training. Just to reiterate NEWLY CREATED POSITION OF EXECUTIVE GENERAL MANAGER OF OPS.
In the future it might be best to do some research before “BLEATING” so that your comments don’t “SHOW A LACK OF UNDERSTANDING”.
