The Home of Photos in Dunnunda! Mk I
Real ones - oh boy, talk about living the dream.
One of my first aircraft scale models I got from my Grandfather as a lad was one of these. I was back then and have been ever since captivated by this aircraft.

Anybody recognise this mug shot......and how did he get in the LHS of the Retard Vehicle!
And for something educational, this is 1000' and WOT, 29.6"MP and 2430RPM and about 90% power. High QNH day and I get some RAM AIR effect!
So we leaned to about 60-70F LOP and look at the result, 50 LPH, going fast and the CHT's are beautiful. Result is 79% power and LOP. Cop that flat earthers!

With your FPV in the brown, you're lucky the earth isn't flat, or you would have eventually bumped into it .
Not too shabby an effort though, but whenever I see 184 knots my thoughts are generally..... "ROTATE"!

Jaba - it would seem that is a fairly well known 'MUG'. He must get around a bit . I hope you were sitting in the rhs with hands very close to the controls ready to take over.
My guess is, he had no idea how to start it, and had to get you to start said retard vehicle for him. Did he try to select 'Flight Idle' upon line up?
Was that a prize for him passing an exam recently?

His prize was an hour or so in the Dash 10.
He did rather well indeed, after 12 months since last retarding, and had the start sequence and most things under control. I was impressed as some of my other learned and skilled mates seem to have much more trouble......and they see it more often. But they are Bonanza pilots

"Jaba! Start it"!

Clinton, good question, I do not have the exact answer at my fingertips, but Lyc's generally are happy from around 55-95PSI and the typical happy medium is the mid 70's. Hot Oil maybe 70, and up to 80 if cooler.
I think your TCM has a lower oil pressure range, 30-60 PSI perhaps?
I am surprised that nobody has picked one small "data" conflict The fuel QTY on board did not equal the LTS REMAINING, because we shot about 50L to go play and could not be bothered adding the amount in. Slack I know.
You blokes are getting soft, especially you Trent, not much gets past you!

No No Jaba, it was one of the first things I noticed. I just didn't say anything because I thought it was too obvious and there would have to be a reason for it. I was more interested in the NM/Litre. -very respectable. Is that ANM/LTR or is it smart enough to do GNM/LTR as indicated by the 'Range'?
(Your rudder trim balance hasn't improved since your last photo though).
I still worry that little gems (like Clintons etc.) may be taken as gospel by some of the younger/less experienced pilots of aircraft with basic OEM garden variety engines without your set-up, realising that your engine injectors, instrumentation and installation knowledge is far superior to the basic setup found on most GA aircraft, (where some of those OWT's may just have a reason to be observed).

Arrrggghhhh! That engine is running ‘over square’! I’d expect the cylinders to explode soon (unless ‘shock cooling’ gets them first).

GNM/LT, it is derived from GPS data over the ARINC429 link. I normally see numbers around 3.8-4.0, but horsing around at low level, the fuel burn is higher.
When you have a TAS at FL130 say and 160Knots, 36.5LPH, it looks REALLY nice
Hehehehe that skid ball lies.....he is a King Air driver, the ball is always in the middle Actually it is pretty much in the middle! For a change!
Clinton is on the money..... this is a garden variety Lycoming, complete with grey paint! It does have a good EMS and some education to go with it.
The thing is most of what I can do with that engine I can apply quite safely to a C172 and a fixed pitch prop with not much more than a Tacho. A Chieftan, well a Fuel flow meter also. When you have knowledge and understanding, you actually need a lot less instruments. However less instruments and no understanding, is where most people are at. The difference is with a good EMS, be it a JPI/Auracle or whatever, you have an excellent diagnostic tool. Problem is once you get it, what you do with all that data is where the value is.
It is my goal to change that over time, bit by bit
So anyone else wanna take a shot at the bloke in the first pic
Or post some more pics?

Must have been an afternoon expedition, he don't like mornings too much.
Did you manage to match the Jammy TAS record??
There was a recent incident with a C210 engine failure locally, story has it that the new owner read about this LoP thing, figured it was a good plan and ran his TIO520 at 6GPH.... without the benefit of an engine monitor. Seized it solid about 10nm short of the RWY.
OMG, I just realised I don't have enough gold bars on my shirt!! Better go get some more!

Surely you are winding me up...
This is the photos thread so if you want to start a new one to discuss this furphy further, please do.
At 6GPH the C210 would have been developing 89.4HP and no more.
How does that seize an engine? :roll eyes:
How could he run it without a monitor at 6 GPH anyway? And if it had full MP and RPM and that much fuel flow, it would stop cold.....due lack of fuel not a seizure.
You must be winding me up ya bastard!
And he does look cool with those gold bars and glasses

Don't hardly even need to BAIT the hook when you throw a line out to the Jab-meister
If I get time tonight I'll download some from more recent times.
BTW, anyone got any experience with CONTOUR or other HD video cameras in flight?
