As WannaBeBiggles said the ropes are very handy! For the machine on Hamo the ropes were very handy for beaching too!

Glad you like the photos guys!

Are those token ropes under the wings actually long enough to be useful?
Left side, ASI,
Right side, Backup ASI..

Good one Ultralights, gave me a chuckle. Couldn't think of anything...

Reminds me of the aussie rock on a string weather station.
If it's swinging, it's windy. If there's no shadow, it's cloudy, etc.

At least he remembered to inhibit the EGPWS warnings "TERRAIN TERRAIN, PULL UP, PULL UP!"

Jabiru Dawn

Hi All,

I was going through my photos from last year's charity flight around Australia and came across this one I thought I'd share.

It was taken at Kalbarri in W.A. I was the only person there at the time and it was incredibly quiet and still. And until the sun came up; pitch black.

Cheers

Owen

Is that a KLN90b pride of place at top of stack?

Please tell me this is an old video?

KLN90B is a good piece of kit, certainly does the job. Integrates well into the PC-12 EFIS. Anything else would be a waste of time.

I'm guessing that's a small opal mining community airstrip in that video Scramjet?

You've got to hand it to those RFDS pilots - they must have nerves of steel. If only they (& their flight crew) were paid what the board members & directors get!

Wow. My KLN90B is in a box under my desk. Didn't get a look on Feebay. And to think it's still helping guys find places like that in the dark !!

The issue of still using KLN90B isn't nearly as scary as the SE night IFR remote area thing!

Nahhh with a gns530w and 14 other gps it is much easier

Besides, finding that black hole in the gafa is the easy part, landing in that said black hole is the fun part.

You'd be surprised how easy it actually is to see the car headlights when you do the approach. And with plenty of black hole experience the car headlight landings are surprisingly easy. BUT, they are still to be treated with extreme caution. Great fun to do for training, but I'm happy I've never had to do one for real yet.
