Have any of you ever flown over Huskisson, NSW?
I lived there eons ago when my father was stationed at HMAS Albatross and many Brit familes lived in the village.
I would love to see what the place looks like now if any of you have any pis.

Have you had a look at satellite pics in Google Earth? They are often clearer than aerial pics.

I don't know about any new strip, no, but then I don't live down there anymore. Anyone who regularly flys in the area could guess the aircraft in the first pic, I'm sure (It's not a van).
The second pic is from a Caribou.

Trojan, you even managed to get the flat me an the new bride first occupied in the photo of Huski. Sigh ....... good times long, long past. Twas a sleepy hollow back then, 1970, spoilt beyond all recognition now by development.
Was 38Sqn where little Bou pilots hung out till they were man enough to make it to 35sqn?

GANNET FAN, for you, sorry I have no others to offer.
That it was Trojan. Used to make a family day and BBQ at Greenpatch when we had to do our wet winch drills. Wild lorikeets sitting on heads and shoulders and a kookaburra perched in the tree over the BBQ that filched the meat should you err and turn your back. Now its been turned into a caravan park administered by some aboriginal organisation and you got to pay to get through a boom gate to the beach.
Included a couple of photos from our training days for you as well - your handle being what it is.
must have been a top spot

Great shots Brian!
35 didn't exist when I was in. I believe it had just been disbanded and what was left was 38 + 3 Dets.

Trojan yer killing me mate! We don't get to spend much time airborne now; Ronnie loadies don't like us meddling in the back of their J models.
'Bous have gone and AIR 8000 Phase 2 seems to have stalled.

Tell me about it. I was present at AMTDU a few years ago when a very, very senoir Ronnie stated that he didn't "want Army personell crewing our aircraft". It has all been downhill from there.
With AAvn seemingly banned from fixed wing ops and the RAAF not really interested in light tactical airlift anymore, what hope have we got? It is a mistake. As soon as the Govt realises that we have to be able to deploy and support Soldiers in our own region they will realise how poorly equipped we are. Good luck operating a C-17 (or C-130 for that matter) in PNG!
Ever tried to get airlift or resup for an RFSU patrol? It is next to impossible, shame .

G'day Mr Brian Abraham
I am assuming by the Trojan images and your comms you have spent some time in the Cockpit of a Trojan. If I was in the position to get a Trojan I would love to get a NA T-28C for something different in Aus.
Here is an image of one of the newest T-28B's on the Aus register
And a lovey machine indeed.

Gotta love the big radial

That is a beautiful aircraft scottw
Dr Oakenfold
The top photo was taken in a C-130J over Penrith Lakes, during airdrop training on the Water Board land at nearby Londonderry (Londonderry DZ).
The third shot is Caribou A4-234 dropping Ammo Boxes at Londonderry DZ.
It's a lot of land, but they still manage to miss it some times
If your car is ever stolen that's the place to look for it!
Dirt bike riders also love taking off with our equipment some times! But that's another story...

Lovely snaps you have posted scottw. Yes a few hours in the 28, a top of the world feeling for a teenager sitting way up high behind that radial, and operating off a carrier to boot. All 43 years ago though, would love the opportunity again. Am Toowoomba born as well, Grandparents had a dairy property on the corner of Rowbotham and Nelson, Middle Ridge.

G'day Brian
That is just awesome operating a T-28 off a carrier.
When was the last time you came up to Toowoomba?
Middle Ridge is one of the fastest growing parts of Toowoomba. A good portion of my work I do is in the Middle ridge area. And my wife does a weekly clean in a house not far from that intersection in Nelson St
The T-28 operators in Toowoomba would love to meet you if they have not already.

Wednesdays Angelflight YMMB-YMEN-YMAY
Hello
Helped Dave out on an AngelFlight last Wednesday. It was a very satisfying experience. It was CAVOK at YMMB, but foggy at YMEN. Fortunately the fog and the BKN CLDat 500' cleared as we approached PLE, but we still ran the ILS.
Being Co-Pilot meant I could take some photos...
At PLE, starting the ILS, YMEN is somewhere down in the soup
On short final, visual!!!
Did the VOR approach into runway 07 YMAY
On the way home...ELW to LACEY at 10,000'
