B-707

Hey, that photo of the 707 reminded me of a question that has bugged me for YEARS....

Does anyone know why three of the four engines have little ducts on top, but one of them (I think its No 1 engine) doesn't????

The engines with the little ducts at the top are fitted with turbo compressors for cabin pressurization.

It can vary somewhat, I think you could choose from having 2, 3 or 4 on the aircraft.

One with 4

Photos: Boeing 707-437 Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net

One with 3

Photos: Boeing 707-321B Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net

One with 2

I understand that the three I picked out are all different series but I believe if you search further you will find variations with in the -100/-300/-400 subgroups.

Pretty sloppy track and altitude keeping if you ask me. Ten feet low good enough for you is it?

Is your name Mr RVSM? I say good enough for a Cessna auto pilot in reasonably rough conditions. Certainly better than I could do.

Yair, Grog, you got the idea, but make em 'web' size 320x240 instead of 'email' size 640x480 and they fit the page width a little better.

Background looks like El Questro, but there doesn’t seem to be enough scrub around the runway.
