That used to be the old Phoenix Aviation 402. Sat at JT for a year or 2 after their charter aim went bust.

Are there any old 402's (tip tanks) still flying?
A few, as far as I am aware. A 402 (not a 402A or anything - note the oval windows) operated by Westwing in Mt Isa (from their website):

They also operate a few other cabin class Cessnas including a C402B.

Tinny, from what I remember Hardy's bought one from Mt Isa early 2006 and took it to Darwin. Not sure what happened to it after that.

Regards,

OpsN.

West Wing have 3 402's that I know of. RDZ (A model), TIV (B model) & they have just bought TAN (ex S.A. Police Airwing) which is a C model.

Did my 402 endorsement with TK himself in that a/c Peter. Way back in the year which cannot be mentioned!

It was a far better example of that model of a/c than any of those I flew in PNG though!

The two Emu pilots had the best, most effective radio procedures I ever heard. "yeah righto cobber"
They passed lots of information, effectively, and did not upset anyone. (much)

DF, RDZ is a very early C402 (ie; before the "A" designator for the model was around). When I showed the AFM for that particular aircraft to WWA's FOI he laughed and originally thought I was pulling his leg.

She's a great old bus though, anyone know if they ever got those props to keep in synch?

I've gone back to my prior post and tried to make the previous a bit clearer.

Regards,

OpsN.

Ahhhh, good old RDZ. What a machine!

Relatively low timed for such an old machine. But she flew nice. Still one of my favourites of all time, .

Some confusion maybe!
RDZ used to be a short nose 402.
Now its a long nose.
Same callsign, change of aircraft.
I think the original RDZ did some time with Unionair, TWB / BN.
It had a heavy empty weight.
Or am I confused.

TAN is one of the best 402 c in aust. Was with the SA airwing SINCE 95 in a hangar and 11,000 hours. All the gear in it works, di ice boots, prop sink. The guys and girls at Westwing will enjoy flying her.

OpsNormal, I was going by how it is listed on the Aircraft Register & also by what G. in WW said when I spoke to her regarding the ferrying of TAN through my location. Her words were "We now have an A model, a B model & a C model."

Gooday CAR

Might be SKX, but the location was not YBTL. Jamair has the location spot on and he could confirm the rego too...... perhaps he knows where the photo came from.
